Something you can do in this mission (and other missions where you can convert ally buildings) is build your 10 houses first, and then convert the allied houses, to go past the maximum of 10 for some extra population. Even if its just 5 houses, thats an extra 50 pop, which is a colossal boost, since population is really ever only limited by the amount of houses and Town Centers you can build.
Oh man you missed out on half of your island because you didn't scout. (and probably with that the trigger that makes Kemsyt land units on your base, because I recall this mission being very hard with enemies landing every few minutes)
I played on normal, so it may not work. But I just built a bunch of towers near the landing zones. Once you upgrade to ballista towers, it absolutely rekt the enemy boats. Just don't build them too close to the water because the turtles take a lot of hits to kill, but they can only attack in melee range. They seemed to only hit the one spot near the end of a canal by the northern most settlement.
@@bigoof7841 I played this scenario a couple weeks ago (with the original aom, not the steam version) and it bugged in the same way... I didn't understand why this mission was so easy lol
Unfortunately, this mission is bugged on EE, so that the enemy KI won't send landing troops and it basically becomes a tedious and easy built up scenario.
Man, being the son of Osiris sounds like a lot of fun. You get to just walk around like you own the place, talking like you put the entire Nile valley to tobacco production then promptly smoked those all, and zapping plantations and men indiscriminately with 40.000 kilovolts via a stick. Also sometimes curing cancer if the guy wears a blue gimp suit.
Viper was a war criminal in this game. He took over a village, used up all of their resources to build an army and massacred all of his civilians 29:52. Next invaded the neighboring island as a lightning wielding God 32:36. Where he killed everything. Right down to the last hippo, deer and giraffe 32:43. #Nuremburg
Didn't see anyone mentioned it, so I'm going to take my chance. When group of people goes back and forth, they gonna go across each others, like, straight through. This feature comes handy when fight, but it allows unit to go into places they will get stocked. By experiments in the map editor, I found that unit can't go on cliffs, not because of the sharp fall, but because the texture is "Cliff". Base on that, I tested that they can walk on cliffs when going back and forth, or sometimes even change of direction can trigger the ability to walk through cliffs, and get stocked. I can't manage to like get them out by do it again, or maybe it's just because I didn't try hard enough. In conclusion, watch out when an army is changing direction, especially when heading back.
Spread your monuments through strategic points in your base when playing as egyptians, the monuments prevent the enemy from using god powers next to them
Son of Osiris is one of the most powerful unit, and also the most useful for the Egyptians. Unfortunately you cannot heal him and he cannot regen, so try your best not to let SoS damaged at all
Missed out on one of the nicest trade routes of the campaign by not scouting that south part of the map, but guess it wasn't needed as the mission is bugged to not attack.
You can see the armour of different units to see what they are weak against. Naval myth units(except the jellyfish one made by Atlanteans) have weak melee armour, so counter by making hammer ships. Same goes for land myth units(like Titans) which could be held back by Ballistae or Destroyer Heroes as Titans have weak crush armour. Of course you can't kill it without another Titan, God powers or such.
I don't understand that. The Viper is the best player concerning Age of Empires and this game is very similar and it's the 17th mission but he sometimes doesn't scout the map, often forgets military upgrades, doesn't notice that he is being attacked or that a gigantic red army is showing on the mini map heading his direction. It's okay not to know the counters yet but he attacks with like 7 damaged units and get's crushed...! Strange...
@The_Viper dude read the major god (civ) attributes. Ra's priests can empower, but not Isis and Set's. Also free buildings add to maximum. I.e., if you built 10 houses (max) before exploring, you would have 14 after exploring. That's 40 extra population.
You did not think of the house trick for this map. If you place the FREE houses down as soon as you get vills at the start. THEN send Amanra to convert the green houses. You basically double your max pop
- If I'm not wrong, an interesting way to "increase" the population cap in this level is to make your 10 houses first, then roam around with Amanra to convert the green houses to yours, so you'll get a higher number of houses than you should normally have. - 22 minutes in and he hasnt noticed that he missed exploring the below part of his island 😅
I replayed this recently on the original 2002 edition (@1080p with minor config edit), and there was a lot more enemy resistance. The Extended Edition campaign seems buggy as fuck. Hopefully the triggers/AI work properly on some of the intense scenarios later on
You know there's a third settlement to the south, right? There's a network of canals down there with gold and farms, where you could build up a second navy, and that settlement is a perfect target for a caravan. I'd also recommend building houses first before exploring with Amanra. That way you'll get extra population limit once you find those other houses.
Have to love the fact Viper can see the southern section of his map, (albeit just barely) on the minimap, but never explores it. That part has like 18k in gold to mine
This is one of my favourite missions. It features isis, my favourite god to play as (among odin), you can freely boom (which is great, because I am kind of a boomer when it comes to RTS) and you have a very high pop cap, which means "haha, elephantos go brrrr" :D
Remember: Isis monument prevents enemy to target god power in their area: use it! It's awesome to protect your land. So don't build all monuments on the same place. ageofempires.fandom.com/wiki/Isis For the rest i won't repeat what i see in comments section already.
14:38 I never see such huge attack wave (or this attack wave) when I play it. Prolly because I never build the dock at that location. Or the game is bugged, or both. Lol.
What triggers me the most are people checking what upgrades do to assess whether they need them although they have 5k+ of every resource. Why not just make all of them?! I would really love to see situations in p2p games like “I could have won if I had this upgrade earlier...”
Oh god! This is too painful to watch!!! USE COUNTERS! PHARROES\PRIESTS ARE IN RANGE AGAINST THE TURTLES!!! SCOUT SOUTH! Also. Amanra can land just north, into that little enclave ahead of your harbour to snag some relics!

that is a nice tip

Even having played that mission 30 times I freaked out with headphones on.
T90 could learn from that
I know it's early but man I'm really looking forward to watching Viper play the Norse part of the campaign. It's his homeland after all
Thaught he was german
Explore the whole island, 100% exploring dude and also MORE EPISODES PLEASE EVERYONE WANTS THEM
"I've been travelling, my apologies"
- What do you expect? Viper isn't shitting episodes, he's doing other things in life. Like Debbie. Prostagma.
Is there anything special at that part of the map he didn't check?
István Kuli, another tc, gold and relics.
@@pascalm1305 Thanks. He then could have probably skipped trading, right?
István Kuli well he didn’t trade that much so yes.
19:46 viper being wrecked by myth units while his 2 pharaohs are literally in shot and he has Son of Osiris Godpower.

Viper: yes
Btw fishing ships can enter docks and make them shoot arrows

6:20 that's what happens if you give viper regular hero units :D (what did ou expect..?)
Either the die or got lost in the forest ;)
Mainly because the hyena wasn't a myth unit and priests are shit against anything that aren't myth units
Whaaaaaat
Collecting a relic, getting a temple... casually carrying the relic around...
Tip for this: build your ten houses first, then convert the neutral ones. Raise poop cap.

Priests can pick up relics through a tech at the temple
Nice! Was so excited for you to get to this level, I think it's one of my favorites
you are right for the priest : it's only with the starting god seth that you could boost building with priest if i'm not mistaken
FYI, Priests can heal Son of Osiris.
Ele train only works with Thoth's tech. You can have migdol units produced almost instantly.

The lighthouse rich a lot, but you put it where were lighting
"These guard towers will be nice while You build up a navy" - builds docks outside XD - I love how You disregard the tips from the game all the time:D
