- In this rant, I'm addressing the problems I've had with the 2k community in the past few weeks. I packed a lot into this rant, so make sure to listen all the way through!
I'm a big fan of NBA 2K and I've been playing the game for years. But lately, I've been really disappointed with the community on 2K24. I'm not the only one, either. There's been a lot of talk about how toxic and unpleasant the 2k community has become.
In this rant, I'm sharing my thoughts on the 2k community and why it's been such a problem for me in the past few weeks. I hope you enjoy it and that it helps you

There is a lot to unpack here…
First of all, to play ProAM you not only have to get 5 people online, you have to have 5 guys who can communicate to play team ball and have the corresponding builds to do it effectively. Most reject Pro-AM teams have 1-2 guys that could actually thrive in a comp environment. Makes no sense to go there knowing you have liabilities on your team. I do agree with you about the whole Zone thing. I LOVE when Rec squads play Zone because 90% of them don’t know what they’re doing and its easy money if your team can shoot mid ranges and be patient passing the ball around. 2K has to have a better ranking system so the best of the best ONLY play against amongst themselves. The matchmaking logic is horrid and needs an overhaul. Oh, and until 2K decides to prioritize PROAM (Let squads of 4 play each other, better rewards, an actual arena, matchmaking, a pre-game shootaround, working alternate jerseys, etc. 2K NEEDS TO KNOW THAT PROAM IS THE MAIN MODE PEOPLE WANT TO PLAY!!! MAYBE AN UNRANKED MODE OR “RANDOM REC” FOR CASUAL PLAYERS IDK… let me know what you think
Well 2k does give you more rep in pro am the better your team is , but the only way for pro am to thrive is for it to be the only 5v5 squad game mode in 2k.
Ngl nobody is gonna play pro am if there’s a more casual option. Mfers be scared

The thing is that most “teams” aren’t built for taking on more serious gameplay. People take pride in being able to get a high win% vs randoms instead of taking a more challenging game mode and going up against actual comp. I have gone in with 5 but it’s not a consistent 5 or ever the same 5

i play rec with 5 sometimes but we are bums and never run zone, miss half of our open 3s

5v5 rec well i feel like 99 rec is comp games at least 45% of games
92u rec feels like playing MyCareer so really trying to find a medium where not only me but my friends have a good time, and not talking about having a 50pt game but winning in a team fashion
my team averages 25 assists a game depending on how comp it is and we hustle play for fun we barely even play 4 games to then go play wz
I think it’s a lack of basic comprehension. People don’t understand that what they watch on screen in a competitive environment is totally different from their random experience. I watch mainly NBA but I don’t go to the park expecting my team to drop 50 in a pick up game off pick and rolls splashing three’s at a 50+ clip. When I go to rec as a big I stick to my role. I play help D, stretch the floor, set screens, and grab as many boards as I can. I am in no way a great player and I’m ok with that. If I help get the W all the better. The amount of talk that comes out of some of these players and their lack of actual ball knowledge is baffling.
On the point of zone, I think this is a great example of a community that has never played organized ball on any level. No school, AAU, or even local recreational leagues youth or otherwise. I was taught zone at the age of 13 and I would never run it in rec because I am not a comp player.
People don’t even know the zone’s purpose, they run it because they see someone else doing it. Then they wonder why it don’t work .
@@ImChrisJones92 exactly. They’ll set it up and wonder why dudes are splashing 3’s on them all game long. It’s meant to stop the drive, hence why it was so popular in late 90’s and 2000’s era of ball. Even if these dudes set up a 3-2 zone they’ll still got bodied because they don’t get the goal is to move with the ball and cut off any open shot. Hell even the Pacers in last night’s game were more effective with their blitz tactic on the double team at the high point of the half court.
What’s wrong with bring a causal 5 to play other casual 5’s?
You aren’t being casual if you incorporate sweat tactics into your gameplay.
I think it’s more of us a community settling for less. I hate that the 5v5 all star was taken away and nobody seems to notice it. We’re definitely in a majority rules society.

as someone who does play comp proam when I do play rec with my girls its funny asf saying a 5 stack playing likes its the HOF league

All facts I been saying this. Soon as I have 5 we’re in pro am, yeah maybe some of my team ain’t fit for the pro am… but how they gonna learn playing people in the rec??
They don’t wanna learn . They told me they don’t wanna play sweats in pro am yet , they play sweaty in rec .

Don’t forget them people who make the JoeKnows or LakerFan build hop in Rec then complain. The sooner ppl realize everyone just wants to hop on get a couple shots up n not be Comp in every mf thing the better

If you’re comp stay comp , if you’re casual , don’t bring comp tactics to a casual mode .
Comp is overrated and requires to much sacrifice because no matter what position people will want you to play their way
Prime example PG is 7/11 3 AST vs 11 5/6 9 ast no turnovers but it’s everyone else’s fault yet he literally will say I’m not running back on defense.
The better PG had everyone in double digits and multiple 30 point shooters and led his team to a 40 point win
Yet the “comp” person will get upset because no one is forcing things so by their definition you’re trash,bum, can’t score but want you to pass immediately if their matchup is baiting the pass
Comp is basically people that will build a specific team and enter multiple tournaments vs the same people with no regard for the actual game just what mechanics are the most exploitable because regardless of what you do certain animations,layups,dunks,etc. are going to yield a foul,bucket,space,crab etc. and “meta” is basically stacking the best exploits together

Dude avoid rec cause they want easy wins thats why..same at the park HOF and Gold status plays will literally jump from court to court looking for the worst teams to beat up on, then when a good team comes to get next.. they leave and go look for another court with low overall players who just wanna hoop so they can get easy rep whilst avoiding competition... 😂😂..

Bro it’s literally just faster to go in the rec with five 😂 and anyone who plays comp knows that ranked pro am is literally the same skill level as rec. and we can’t play comp matches ups all day because it takes 45 to an hour just to get 1 game started and people don’t get on to play till like 8pm
