I have a set and like 8 people we rotate but it’s still days we only 3 people and I don’t run park anymore I barely get two so it’s always times we gotta pick up randoms but if I go random rec it’s times I get good teams but it’s always that 1 player thats gotta sell
That's definitely true statement about everyone thinks there a superstar. Because 80 percent of people play the same. Plus watch there favorite TH-cam to create there player. 85 percent of 2k players have terrible defensive or understand defensive. Because most people are offensive minded.
I don’t think I would have an issue if the 2 guard or small forward is scoring a lot within the flow of the game . My issue is when there is no flow and it’s just constant isolation and screens. A lot of people should just play 2v2 or starting 5
And then you got these guys complaining every year that we can't make a "superstar" build anymore and that they aren't as good as they used to be. I say it depends on how you use it. One game I might have 30, one game I might have 8, but I'll be doing other stuff to help out my team too. All these dudes wanna do is score 40 every game and they want it to be as easy as possible to do so lol
Chill gang, you using logic & the community doesn't like using logic. But you spot on fr, the community loves to go online & play like it's MyCareer when they're not actually that good. I lowkey miss 2K17 because everybody had no choice but to pick a role & the real superstars still stood out
Facts and I have a build at every position so I’ve seen the negatives from every position. I think the worst fundamental fuck up is when bigs only stay near the rim. Never spaces the floor, never cuts. Just stands there thinking he’s Shaq while the team has no driving lanes anymore lol
i don’t mind sitting in the corner and dropping 20 off catch and shoot and getting 8 steals playing good defense for my team, i be losing w pgs that don’t know how to hit the open man
This is how I play on my defensive menace and then the randoms bitch because I do that🤣 I’m doing my job you pass I shoot and score, not my fault your man drops 30 because you have no defense
We had elite role players in 2k18-19, even in 2k20-21 but once next gen dropped these superstar builds have been around. And we complained about that as a community
The best 2K players know how to be role players when the game that calls for it you can always step it up and be the Superstar as a team when they game calls for it. A lot of the problem with the game is the player itself they refused to make this simple play you could be standing wide open right next to them they'll continue to do five step backs before shooting a contested shot.
This is it. It's all matchup dependent. One game I might drop 30 because we are running the break or my matchup is sagging off me. The next I might only get a few shots because a lock is guarding me. Maybe my teammate is going off that game so I'm just focusing on defense and getting them the ball, spacing the floor or boxing out because my bigs are overmatched down low. Those games where I score a lot are fun but so is *winning* when I'm able to just do the little things. That's why I always make a pretty balanced build, because you never know what might be needed of you from game to game. I'd rather not shoot the ball once and win every time than have 40 and get blown out.
I be telling my random teammates this all the time stop trying to be the hero and they get mad at me like wym or stfu and we lose cus a guy wanna play dumb
I been making Paul George style builds for the last two 2ks and it makes life so much easier when it comes to varying lineups, it sucks so bad when you have a build that can only play a certain role every time
Yeah this is true, the problem with this game is there is a huge skill gap. When I play rec with my friends it’s either a game that we win by 1-10 points or we lose by 1-10 or it’s a blow out win
most 2K players are hybrid defenders or power forwards trying to be PGs and PGs scoring isn't the only way to influence the game and 90% of randoms in the rec can't even get to their own bucket I average 22 points on my power forward sitting in the corner and cutting, occasionally I'll create my own shot yet these dudes think they're franchise players averaging 6 points on 25% FG shooting
most 2k players make hybrid defenders because of the lack of dribbling animations in the game for smaller guards compared to bigger guards and 2ks decision to make smaller guards completely unable to guard anyone taller than them. I totally agree that randoms have 0 ability to create their own bucket but 2k is primarily at fault for their unbalanced ass game. Example: the jamal murray behind the back. U get it at 83 overall ball handling which is obtainable for pretty much all 6'8 builds and its the best behind that back in the game. Non primary dribbling builds shouldnt be able to do the most explosive move in the game.
Been using my Tim Duncan build for 4 years at the center. I always tell my friends I’ll block all the shots and grab all the rebounds. So they can focus on offense like they made their build to do
I think I already 100% agree with your point. I've been roasted plenty of times by friends because my point guard builds were always some "unknown build names" because I focus on making a role playing but better or I try to build more all-around type of players. I never understood it tbh.
For sure, you make so many great points. I always been a team player for the most part but I ran randoms until this year and I've seen all the horrible takes, shots, turnovers, no defense. Now I have a good squad to run with finally because of cross play and it's so nice to have people who give the ball to whoever is open, feed whoever is hot. Communicate, have some IQ, know when to help on defense and when to stay home, and who don't constantly run around while in the half court offense. I was so sick of being a willing passer and someone who shoots 60% plus from 3 every yr..and never getting the ball back because these dudes wanna spam their adrenaline away then chuck up a contested 3 lmao. I've made the same balanced big guard type of build for the last 4 2ks as my main rec build to be able to play 3 positions and fit with pretty much anyone, and that fits with the way I like to play and the stuff I want to be able to do. So many people get that wrong, you're right. Loved the video
i’m glad I found this video i’ve been saying this for a while the game is fine i have fun whenever i hop on with my squad. but whenever i’m not it’s gets bad the community is the worst same few builds same playstyles and low Iq. me and the homies discuss our builds about who’s gonna make what so we fit idk why others don’t do the same
You would think that’s the case . But I’ve already had someone tell me that this take is BS and a fake narrative. So you know if there’s one there’s 100,000 more that think like that.
THANK YOU! Some people not willing to be real and play their roles. I think the large investment of VC or build has killed a lot of that experimentation because of limited funds/builds. I did use one of those community builds as a template but tweaked it to fit my needs. Took a long break from them earlier days and it's wild now. Just lemme make my pat bev hustle player and cook in peace.
This is an amazing perspective I stopped playing park and rec due to that I know my build and understanding where I fit when playing with randoms you legit have to think of it as if you are really playing ball
@@ImChrisJones92man fr been hoopin on my new sharp build ran been running into hella full fives 92 ovr goats , been giving em 40 balls Ona 88 ovr it’s sad
Totally agree I made a ridiculously elite role player to run with my boys. 99 3 ball + 99 perimeter + 91 steal at 6’5” SG. I can’t dribble and I don’t have any finishing but that’s not what my role is on the team. This build would be horrendous if I tried to lead a team, but it is the perfect compliment to the point guard I play with because he doesn’t have any defense. I can space the floor so much for him and then pick up his assignment every time up the floor, essentially taking the opposing teams point guard out the game.
So if they suck at defense don't upgrade defense? Wait a minute here, tell these fool if they can't dribble to practice dribble. Doesn't 2k have tutorials anymore? I grew tired of online watching everyone fight over the ball when I got 30 shooting 5-6 from 3 as a 2way pf lol. Seriously, everyone wanting to shine gets annoying and park takes too long to watch someone get off the spot and grinding a player take way too long. AAA title with P2W features and the community buy into it is wild.
Have you never seen a dude with high defense still make no impact defensively? It’s rare but it happens. When it does that means his defensive stick work is just trash . Learning how to dribble doesn’t mean you have the mindset to chain together moves based on the coverage you’re going against . There are levels to this
@@ImChrisJones92 that's what I mean, get the mindset too. I'm not disagreeing with you. Had a homie make a playmaker for years because he " gets assist " but he was ass because he couldn't dribble and no mindset to get better. Told him to get off that is and learned to off ball lol.
@@ImChrisJones92 I hear what he’s saying and you. People gotta be honest with themselves. Say you make the most defensively out of a average defensive build or bad but you do fine on d. That same person is okay at shooting with a 92 3 and relies on driving. Instead of a 6’6 sharp he shoulda made a 6’8 6’9 lock. If you have the capability of learning dribble moves on high ball handle build because your not bad rn dribbling you should but if your simply not a dribbler lock or point and you make one your dumb.
How much I feel this video 5 minutes in is crazy! I play as a 6’9 sg and I’m left to play big every game because my friends only make point guards and can’t dribble so I’m left to try get open and score with 80 ball handle honestly a struggle I only play 3s thou couldn’t imagine how frustrating that is in rec!
Very true statement and explanation, I also believe that the second big issue is a lack of understanding that 2k is meant to be simulation, many people that play 2k, don't know basketball, doesn't watch it and only knows who's the most popular player at the time. It's what contributes to the flood of TH-cam builds.
That one bit you said about people needing to switch to the pf position is the definition of "the truth hurts" and i am one of those people cuz that gaurd life wit all that dribbling aint for me 😭🙏 learned that the hard way
Man that's ok, though I agree with him to an extent, I'm a point guard that can't spam dribbles and I average 18 pts 11 reb and 13 assist. Dribbling wise all I really do is step back here and there, but I'm a shot creator with high middy and 92 post control so either I'm hitting the open man posting up or running past my man with 89 dunk. If you wanna try playing point but can't spam dribbles try post moves/ shot creating like Shai/ Luka. Hop steps, hop fades, post spin technician are life savers and if you're a true playmaker it's an instant pass when you get doubled!
I literally stay saying this and mfs be having the nerves to talk shi when you get all your animations from TH-camrs and yet Alone the build and play garbage or get bailed from a specific Animations (Lebron hop back) magic ( dribble style) then talk like they good
@@VisionzTruethe Lebron step back, Jamal Murray behind the back, Magic crossover. All these need to be gone in 25. It’s crazy how much these moves can bail people out by just spamming it
@@ithinkimanaries2620 i agree it shouldn’t be in the game or at least if they use adrenaline bars again make it to were you lose it if you do those moves
the majority of my builds are at the PF position and I do personally try to make them a roll player that has enough versatility to adapt to whatever mode I'm playing so I always try to make them to be able to finish at the rim, be able to catch and shoot, and be able to switch on defense enough so I'm not a liability every time if there's a switch and enough rebound to be a secondary rebounder. I personally really enjoy this kind of play style cause I can mix well with anyone of my friend groups I play with or randoms in rec. been playing this game for 5 years now and this 2k really allowed me to play how I wanted it's not perfect but I enjoy it. My favorite build rn is my so called Larry bird build I only call it that cause it's 6'9 can shoot like a mf and I say "Bird from deep" every time I shoot from anywhere
Yea a lot of people actually make role player builds and think they superstars like I see too many defensive anchors tryna drop step….u made Rudy Gobert not shaq or I see interior scorers not post scoring and tryna make full court passes.
this is why I just stick to all star team up on play now online. Sure there's gonna be some kids who play terribly, but at least in higher ranks most people know their role, and pick some sort of playstyle despite playing with their favorite players.
I try to have a mix of both what I like and what benefits the team. That’s why I’ve made two way players for as long as I can because you can never have too many defenders in your team. I’m aware that someone on my team is probably going to want to score or shoot a bunch so I don’t trip over that. My bread and butter has been inside post scoring so I do try to retain that at least because I do enjoy playing it. Thing is I make my build PURELY off what I like doing, the only thing I usually search up is how people feel about certain badges in the game since they change every year
PREACH BROTHER! I’m a stretch big main since 2k17. I shoot over 65% from 3 every year and can create my own shots pretty much every year. I’ve played guard a couple of times, the ball handle/getting myself open isn’t the problem but I can’t score and facilitate at the same time. With that in mind I MAKE A BUILD I CAN PLAY TO MY STRENGTHS ON EVERY YEAR LIKE YOU SHOULD
3:43 Thank you... This is a huge misconception within the community and it slightly annoys me when people have the mentality "Oh I'll just make a center, it's easy I'll get boards and just be lazy and try to paint mash everyone in front of me." No, if you are a bad center going against a skilled and experienced center that has mastered their build, you will look like a jackass. If you are a bad center playing against a good one, it will show. You are involved in pretty much every facet of the defense every possession whether it be PnR, baiting out the corner, zone, etc. you have to have a high IQ, knowledge of when and how to position yourself, and have good timing to play big, or you will look goofy. If you are new to the game, don't know where you fit in the offense and don't feel like you can learn the dribbling system well, want to be big, make a PF and backup the center...
Back in 21 during Covid I wanted to be a guard originally, but instead opted to be the only bigman out of my group and became an athletic glass cleaning lockdown. My player was the unsung hero of me and my boys rec squad I dropped triple doubles in rec and played elite D shit was so fun
Pf is such an underrated position that no one wants to play, especially when it comes with the people I play with. I'm willing to play a boring role if it helps us win. There'll be games where I'll go scoreless but have 15 Reb, 10 Ast, 6 Stl. If I have to play a Draymond/DennisRodman role, I will. People just need to understand to play their role, scoring the ball is not everything, there are different ways to contribute to the team.
Those players you named games aren’t “sexy “ enough for people. Yeah they got rings and a lot of wins between them but who cares about that stuff . 😂. It’s about them and them only . “They paid their money to play their way” . That’s what I get told
This is 100% facts. You PREACHING! Majority of the community doesn’t make a build that actually fits them. PGs and Centers should not just be made by anybody. They require the most IQ and handle the most responsibility. Majority of the community needs to make SFs and PFs they’re the easiest positions to play and don’t require much skill to use
This is 💯 not only do they make their players for only scoring but they also set up their badges just for themselves. Can't tell you how many people have guards or bigs with no support badges.
Preach bro I learned from my mistakes in past 2Ks I got tired of making defensive guard builds. I always got matched up with randoms who get cooked and don’t pass so my defense didn’t matter anyways. This year I made a 2-way inside-the-arc finisher C build and I love the control it gives me over the outcome of a game with hall of fame quick twitch and Boxout beast
This so true. I make a build that can do everything so I’m no liability anywhere but I’d much rather make the pass or play team defender than score 20+. I got averages of 10 and 6 at PG and I give no shits
I’m glad these type of videos are starting to surface cause I’m a high IQ player and I constantly get sold by people with bad builds, can’t shoot or can’t pass. No defense or bad spacing . Either one or the other and sometimes all of the above . I tell people all the time “you’re a role player”. There’s nothing wrong with that just excel at your role. Especially when I’m a pg looking to draw doubles and feed my teammates
Facts, you should also make a video talking about 2s, talk about if you can’t shoot MAKE AN INSIDE BIG, practice your pick and roll and make a 99 offensive rebound big, and set screens for a shot creator, it’s easy, it’s all about gameplan, its either pick and roll with a guard fade or pick and pop with a 3pt shot hunting guard Anyways I think you should make a video talking about how people need to take their 2s or 3s partner and make GAMEPLANS to win games
why not put all that effort and learning into learning how to shoot? I'm sorry but if you're playing random rec an inside big is a liability to your squad no matter how you spin it yes it can work but why even take the risk? instead of hoping you get a good PG who can dribble around your screen just make a shooting big man
@@DRandR1productionz personally I’m a popper and I use my popper for everything besides 2s where it’s strictly pick and roll, but some people are genuinely that bad at the game where they CANT shoot, it’s just a good starter build for bigs that have people to play with
That's my bag set mean screens for shooters I have a Rodman mindset play def a d reb first then get offense in the flow of the team . Love when I see a small guard gets stuck to my player with brick wall setting
Having a big that can’t shoot is definitely a liability. He needs to at least be able to shoot a midrange shot . Once you play against someone you know can’t shoot , the game becomes so easy . Maybe TOO easy
Maaan my problem was always looking to content creators for how I play instead of figuring out my play style. I realized like you said they made their build and even jump shots for their own play style. My play style is very relaxed so I made a of and took like 3 hours making a jumpshot that wasn't meta. Nobody wants to be original anymore in this game.
This man speaking to my soul. I had to become my teams role player. Tbh I ended up with a dope build because of it, but man the game would be much simpler if I aint had to plug so many holes
I relate to you what you say so much. I am a shooting guard that thinks I can score most possessions but guess what? I’m not there to shoot every shot, especially whenever they put me at the PG position because my goal is to get everyone involved. Then I end up with 10-15 assists. I can be 8/10 or 9/10 from the field, and though I’m the hot hand, I know for a fact with me scoring so much creates a change in their defensive scheme, allowing me to see the open man. I feel bad when I see someone on the team have only 2 shots and I have 10. As a SG, you are still a secondary ball handler. If I’m the only one scoring, I’m still looking for the open man. Some people don’t see that.
You understand the concept of basketball and also understand that in order to keep everyone engaged , they need to feel like they’re a part of the game .
If you play hero ball all the time, go play some 1v1s. Because no one wants to be on your team. Why do you want 2 or 4 other people on your team if you're gonna play how you're gonna play?
Why is this the most on point take I've heard about the 2k community for a while. The game changed and people need to just know their role and play it. And play good defense and put they hands up, that's it. Have a sub and keep it up, had me laughing at them goofies.
It ain’t about you in an online game bro. It’s about the team. Don’t waste 30 minutes of people’s time chucking up shots when you could be learning from your mistakes and finding holes in the defense. On any given nba team there’s only room for 1-2 stars and in a rec game with half the amount of possessions those touches are scarce.
I'm a 2k newbie from Europe, had very little basketball knowledge going into the game, and have mostly played solo against the AI in my career on PC/current gen. Over several 2k titles I've tried to get into the online game by playing REC, but my experience so far has been very miserable despite trying my hardest to be a good teammate. I don't understand this selfish and toxic behavior. I would love to find teammates to play with and learn from.
“Ima powa forward and I’m actually pretty much of a beast” im tryna make some breakfast bro and you almost made me spoil my pancake batter laughing at that 😂
The problem with 2k is A lot of ppl think they’re better than what they are…they make these pg builds and don’t know how to get open have good shot selection or find an open man…
Yk what’s funny is I had this conversation with my friend the other day. I was like “I remember in 2k20 people would just let me carry them & be happy that they were winning” now people who don’t put in time to learn wanna be the ones ISOing and shooting when they literally can’t and they complain and cry when they aren’t the main player
the problem is the black to purple bs, and showing peoples stats before games. It creates way too much separation, meanwhile you got purples out there sellin games because they wanna play hero ball. Every build I create is for teamwork ofc, but I got a 90+ win %
It’s the nba in general even in the league they want a 6’8 point guard who can play center shoot 3s dribble elite pass and score from everywhere. That’s the problem with this “positionless” basketball. No roles so everyone do everything. And this even extends into the workplace
It’s hilarious to me that you can carry a team of randoms to the lead and then they’ll decide it’s their time to shine and lose you the game. The best part is that if they don’t quit they’ll start passing it to you again but way to late to anything about it like okay guys thanks for passing it to me now but it’s a 20 point game with 1:30 in the 4th
Your point about the difference between curry/harden is spot on. It’s like Caitlin Clark, she actually plays more like Trae young because neither of them operate off ball like curry does
People watch highlights now and not the game . Prime harden is literally the community . 5 out of from the top of the key . Seldomly run the pick and roll and when they do it’s to get sharp takeover , then it’s back to 5 out 😂😂
I have Starlink internet, so my connection has a slight enough delay that my shots are very hard to time compared to most, so ive learned to play a role as a defensive playmaker. Know your role it you win more.
Whenever I make a player themed build I mold the build off their rookie or near end of career abilities. My Kobe build is 16’ Kobe, can’t dunk at all, still Kobe. Scratching that out leaves proper handles, defense and scoring, and I can still sorta pass with 77 pass accuracy. The issue with the build is people have outrageous expectations of scoring and defense and they don’t understand how the mamba played. Ain’t not a soul gonna expect the post game either.
I feel like the only people who should be looking to score is if you're wide open or if you actually know how to ball irl. For the most part if you ball irl the iq is already there.
Agreed with absolutely everything you said. Used to have a group chat on Playstation w ppl we ball with slowly w time ppl left. Every year I make point guards to facilitate and lock up the pg, only 1 of my friends actually put similar defense to mine. The ones that ask ' what should I make ' I take into account what they suck at at make a build, then they complain it git 2 much defense, they make what they want and randomly expect ppl to just accept the build because vc is spent. Imagine making a build with barely any D and every time u get a good look instead of shooting you try and dunk, and when you should dunk you instead attempt a shot? Builds that don't suit the lineups then complain about how we gonna win, I tell em if u had listened this wouldn't have happened suddenly I'm the villain, I'm the only one Every yr w pass accuracy higher than 75. At the start of every game, ppl r on their phones giving up 3s when accelerator is in the game, really??
I just joined the 2k community a month ago and its the most toxic I've seen. And I have yet to play a game of "Basketball" online. I only played 3 point contest. Every game is the other team comes down the court then behind the back, behind the back behind the back 3 point shot. Don't matter if they're winning by 1 or by 30 the stop on fast break where they have no one ahead of them and pop a 3. They're not playing basketball, they memorized the muscle memory well for the 3 point shot and that's all they do. Its so annoying
honestly feel like the biggest prob rn is people don’t know how to stand still and actually watch and pay attention on the court you got 2 people cutting at the same time because they’re not looking around 2 people come to set screens cause they not paying attention idk if people that play 2k watch basketball but in a real game people only move when necessary and they also move with a purpose it’s getting tiresome you think you have a open lane or you think you beat your defender then “bam” you hug your teammate 🤦🏾♂️
It's way too hard to play in the rec random because people don't know their roles. As you said: They all think they're superstars or goats or whatever. But they ain't...they're dawgshit sometimes, going 0-7 but still wanna talk trash when you brick one stupid taken layup but green all of your 3's. Finally someone says it out loud that the majority of the 2k players need to know their roles. When I play PF or SF, I go in the corner and stay there - in offense. Simple bball starts by making space and know your role Edit: Shoutout to Joeknows for dropping videos of his builds, BUT....telling the community to take those as a template but adjust all the ratings to their own style
This is what happens when games lack a dedicated competitive mode. There is no hierarchy of skill and no way to track what works and when. 3v3, 2v2, Rec and pro-am all play differently.

This is absolute facts. I really try to be the type of player you describe. I’m trying to fit into the team. If we have a guard that wants the rock, aight I’m off ball. We have someone that loves to shoot from hash, aight bet I’m in the corner or dunkers spot. When you get a random team in rec willing to do that we win multiple games by 30
I felt this because I hated the pressure I felt when using a pg in previous 2ks so this year I made a SG and SF. Besides the bs 2k comes with I actually enjoyed 2k lowkey, at times I do want to go back but only because I see too many trash pgs.
I have an SGA build cause I really wanted to pride myself on being a dimer/team player and being able to score whenever I want. So I try my best to be an amazing PG/role player
It was part of what made 2k fun. Jumping into rec in older 2k’s and having a competent team that communicate and make the right decisions was great but it also had a load of degenerates. Being able to impact more then just one facet of the game is why bots complain when they brick a shot. If you miss a good take, get back on D (pause) and then focus on the next shot.
Hey man, greetz from Chile 🇨🇱. You're so right. I ALWAYS make a role player, I make a 4, sit corner, and help our, and a C that catches rebounds, shoots, and play for my team. You know what's sad tho... When you are a role player, the rest of the team doesn't see you. I have lost count of how many times I've gotten the stop, run down with my big, sat corner, just to see the PG try to dunk on 3 and fail. I know my limits, know I ain't superstar, learned my role and try to do it as better as I can. If anyone looking for a big to complete their team, HMU. I know my role/place, and have NO main character syndrome whatsoever.
Imma center i have my 5. I love setting my screens and getting rebounds. People always say you scored 0 points. Yes but look at the rebounds look at defense and the screens that get my team open shots. I agree with everything you said
that build shit is so real bruh😭 ppl be making one way defensive cone builds with 92 ball handle and 97 driving dunk just to lose the game because they got 34 perimeter defense
Its severe pain being a big man player. I only play the 4 and the 5. I just play D, grab boards, and spot up 3s. Very simple, and when you have 2 guards that just spam dribble and throw up bad shots

Ima role player I love it😂
Same, I play my role, not become a superstar, and ask for the ball 24/7. I just want the ball when I'm open for a dunk or a three. That's it
And then you got these guys complaining every year that we can't make a "superstar" build anymore and that they aren't as good as they used to be. I say it depends on how you use it. “ It’s a video game , if you want real ball go play it for real “ .
That’s the response I get when the shoe fits a particular individual
Bro this is a fundamental issue with 2k. It’s a basketball sim but you get away with playing bad basketball.
It’s a nasty thing
Even worse that 2k teammate grade can train you to be bad at times.
Facts and I have a build at every position so I’ve seen the negatives from every position. I think the worst fundamental fuck up is when bigs only stay near the rim. Never spaces the floor, never cuts. Just stands there thinking he’s Shaq while the team has no driving lanes anymore lol
It’s not sim anymore. The community has whined enough to get this arcade version of 2k that has existed for years.
The realest shit ever said

Been a PROUD role player since I started playing park weather it be corner sitter lock or big man I just love doing the nitty gritty
The community needs you
Fr I like to get my teammates involved and lock in with n defensive. Then score when I need to
We had elite role players in 2k18-19, even in 2k20-21 but once next gen dropped these superstar builds have been around. And we complained about that as a community
And looked what happened, the game got better but the community got worse.
See ?
You get it 👍🏾
As a basketball coach, it is frustrating to see that people think good basketball is the bad style and IQ they play

I been making Paul George style builds for the last two 2ks and it makes life so much easier when it comes to varying lineups, it sucks so bad when you have a build that can only play a certain role every time
Paul George now is an example of an ELITE role player
Yeah this is true, the problem with this game is there is a huge skill gap. When I play rec with my friends it’s either a game that we win by 1-10 points or we lose by 1-10 or it’s a blow out win
most 2K players are hybrid defenders or power forwards trying to be PGs and PGs scoring isn't the only way to influence the game and 90% of randoms in the rec can't even get to their own bucket I average 22 points on my power forward sitting in the corner and cutting, occasionally I'll create my own shot yet these dudes think they're franchise players averaging 6 points on 25% FG shooting
It’s disgusting
most 2k players make hybrid defenders because of the lack of dribbling animations in the game for smaller guards compared to bigger guards and 2ks decision to make smaller guards completely unable to guard anyone taller than them.
So they can focus on offense like they made their build to do
What's a good tim Duncan build you use

Another thing to they take these builds into a bum park or a 90 below rec it’s sickening 🤦♂️
The 92 and under teams of five might be the worst teams in history. And 2k needs to ban them
@@ImChrisJones92man fr been hoopin on my new sharp build ran been running into hella full fives 92 ovr goats , been giving em 40 balls Ona 88 ovr it’s sad
Totally agree
I made a ridiculously elite role player to run with my boys.

I play as a 6’9 sg and I’m left to play big every game because my friends only make point guards and can’t dribble so I’m left to try get open and score with 80 ball handle honestly a struggle I only play 3s thou couldn’t imagine how frustrating that is in rec!
man I been telling my team make different builds but they don’t wanna listen, now we going into the rec with three point guards 🤦🏽

😂😂 man that’s insane
Very true statement and explanation, I also believe that the second big issue is a lack of understanding that 2k is meant to be simulation, many people that play 2k, don't know basketball, doesn't watch it and only knows who's the most popular player at the time. It's what contributes to the flood of TH-cam builds.
Which is disrespectful to the game
That one bit you said about people needing to switch to the pf position is the definition of "the truth hurts" and i am one of those people cuz that gaurd life wit all that dribbling aint for me 😭🙏 learned that the hard way
😂 at least you learned something. Trust it’s still certain guards that I can’t guard either . They know how to spam for real !
Damn I typed all of this for nothing I just realized y'all were talking about defensively lmao damn my b!

the majority of my builds are at the PF position and I do personally try to make them a roll player that has enough versatility to adapt to whatever mode I'm playing so I always try to make them to be able to finish at the rim, be able to catch and shoot, and be able to switch on defense enough so I'm not a liability every time if there's a switch and enough rebound to be a secondary rebounder. I personally really enjoy this kind of play style cause I can mix well with anyone of my friend groups I play with or randoms in rec. been playing this game for 5 years now and this 2k really allowed me to play how I wanted it's not perfect but I enjoy it. My favorite build rn is my so called Larry bird build I only call it that cause it's 6'9 can shoot like a mf and I say "Bird from deep" every time I shoot from anywhere

this is why I just stick to all star team up on play now online. Sure there's gonna be some kids who play terribly, but at least in higher ranks most people know their role, and pick some sort of playstyle despite playing with their favorite players.
Honestly due to social media and gaming so intertwined. Ppl rather just make optimized builds than builds they actually like
True
I try to have a mix of both what I like and what benefits the team. That’s why I’ve made two way players for as long as I can because you can never have too many defenders in your team. I’m aware that someone on my team is probably going to want to score or shoot a bunch so I don’t trip over that. My bread and butter has been inside post scoring so I do try to retain that at least because I do enjoy playing it.

Facts, you should also make a video talking about 2s, talk about if you can’t shoot MAKE AN INSIDE BIG, practice your pick and roll and make a 99 offensive rebound big, and set screens for a shot creator, it’s easy, it’s all about gameplan, its either pick and roll with a guard fade or pick and pop with a 3pt shot hunting guard
Anyways I think you should make a video talking about how people need to take their 2s or 3s partner and make GAMEPLANS to win games
why not put all that effort and learning into learning how to shoot?

My main problem is these mf that make PGs every year knowing they can’t defend dribbles, dribble, icon pass nor shoot that good
So annoying
With a 60 pass accuracy 😂
See you’re using logic .
Logic is a word he majority of this community can’t use
Why is this the most on point take I've heard about the 2k community for a while. The game changed and people need to just know their role and play it. And play good defense and put they hands up, that's it. Have a sub and keep it up, had me laughing at them goofies.
It’s a very simple thing
Who’s paying 70 dollars to be a role player though. Especially one that never touches the ball.

Good luck on your search .

Problem is with randoms, they refuse to space the court. So playing with any cohesion is impossible.
im a lock n a good game for me is 10+ points 5+ assists and 4+ steals. as long as my pg hits me on the break or on open shots idrc as long as we win
That’s unique
Talking to the community is like talking to a wall
I have a pf kawhi build
But I use him as a Jaden McDaniel and focus on defense slashing and 3 point shooting
Welcome to one of the worst communities to ever exist
honestly feel like the biggest prob rn is people don’t know how to stand still and actually watch and pay attention on the court you got 2 people cutting at the same time because they’re not looking around 2 people come to set screens cause they not paying attention idk if people that play 2k watch basketball but in a real game people only move when necessary and they also move with a purpose it’s getting tiresome you think you have a open lane or you think you beat your defender then “bam” you hug your teammate 🤦🏾♂️
So true
It's way too hard to play in the rec random because people don't know their roles. As you said: They all think they're superstars or goats or whatever. But they ain't...they're dawgshit sometimes, going 0-7 but still wanna talk trash when you brick one stupid taken layup but green all of your 3's.
Finally someone says it out loud that the majority of the 2k players need to know their roles. When I play PF or SF, I go in the corner and stay there - in offense. Simple bball starts by making space and know your role
Edit: Shoutout to Joeknows for dropping videos of his builds, BUT....telling the community to take those as a template but adjust all the ratings to their own style
This is what happens when games lack a dedicated competitive mode. There is no hierarchy of skill and no way to track what works and when. 3v3, 2v2, Rec and pro-am all play differently.
This is absolute facts I rant about this all the time I go on for hours this why I say archetypes will revive 2k forsure
Revive one half , while the other half cry about being held back while they hold themselves back 😂
@@ImChrisJones92 faxxxx, people want to spend money on 2k terms LeBron ,but use them like Pj tucker Mfs be having post control strength reb passing 3s middy dunk def steal block
Just to shoot 5 corner 3s and stand around in a zone and press square and instant leakout
Like bruh just make rockets pj tucker or Trevor ariza😂
@@ImChrisJones92 it took me no time to realize the custom builder was terrible once I seen everybody making inside out scorers from the first iteration of it ,also I honestly was one of the first to make the nba players but ian gonna go deep into that lol but now it’s just a thing where people making these players but don’t live up to them, I stopped making superstars how can u win in a 5 minute qtr game and expect everybody to be happy, i literally make people like dennis rodman now i dont even care about offense like that nomo everybody else want to be the main character when they make they character but not even a main character on the floor
@@ImChrisJones92 pro league kind of also messed 2k up, instead of people playing the game the way the game meant to be played they go out of they way to get an game breaking advantage and tell you your bad when they cheesing and directing playing lower competition for no reason, win percentage doesnt even mean anything anymore all people do is teamup and beat on low overalls i miss the old 2ks 17/19/20 were fun, honestly as bad as the old 2ks was they were still somehow kind of fun even shitty 2k18 u can find some fun in it
Bruh you said a mouthful then I stamp this video as no 1 for calling out the bs salute my guy
✊🏾
I’m a 3 and D guy. I keep things simple. I can play with anyone. I’m not a star player but I accept that.
Guards that can create their own shot and know when to pass, and also understands the defense is godsend
Facts
This is absolute facts. I really try to be the type of player you describe. I’m trying to fit into the team. If we have a guard that wants the rock, aight I’m off ball. We have someone that loves to shoot from hash, aight bet I’m in the corner or dunkers spot. When you get a random team in rec willing to do that we win multiple games by 30
If you’re not winning games by 30 in the rec , there is a major problem with that
I felt this because I hated the pressure I felt when using a pg in previous 2ks so this year I made a SG and SF. Besides the bs 2k comes with I actually enjoyed 2k lowkey, at times I do want to go back but only because I see too many trash pgs.
It’s a lot of those roaming the 2k streets
I have an SGA build cause I really wanted to pride myself on being a dimer/team player and being able to score whenever I want. So I try my best to be an amazing PG/role player
Brother I’m glad this video came to my algorithm cause i say this 24/7 😭
You’ve gained yourself a like follow and new subscriber my boy
✊🏾 appreciate you
It was part of what made 2k fun.
Someone told me today , that if I looking for sim basketball just play it in real life
Great video. The whole community needs to see this
Hey man, greetz from Chile 🇨🇱.
A team will definitely appreciate your play.
Hopefully, if anyone is looking for a 4 or 5, I'd gladly be there
Imma center i have my 5. I love setting my screens and getting rebounds. People always say you scored 0 points. Yes but look at the rebounds look at defense and the screens that get my team open shots. I agree with everything you said
Only people who played basketball in a real life competitive situation will realize that
The most honest video on the state of this game and community I’ve seen
that build shit is so real bruh😭 ppl be making one way defensive cone builds with 92 ball handle and 97 driving dunk just to lose the game because they got 34 perimeter defense
Literally just lost a game because they put me at the two and the PG gave up 40
Its severe pain being a big man player. I only play the 4 and the 5. I just play D, grab boards, and spot up 3s. Very simple, and when you have 2 guards that just spam dribble and throw up bad shots
That’s 2k
