When you drive a tractor, you should keep all implements close to the ground. High implements just raises the center of gravity, making it surprisingly easy for a bump or an off-camber turn to tip the tractor.

I did have to chuckle a bit as Jeremy made the comment about the kids’ help being necessary to build the bed…I couldn’t help but think that the two of you built the home mostly by yourselves BUT it was necessary for all six of you to put together a bed frame. I will admit that the gold bar on the oven vent hood was the first thing I didn't like in your furnishings, but once you got the stove in, now I get why Melissa chose it. 😢 It’s been a rough week out here in California as well. I have three families that I love dearly who are evacuated because of the mosquito fire (which as of now is 37,000 acres, zero containment). We live in Colorado, we know how serious wildfires can be. We had the Waldo canyon fire in I think 2012 it was literally in our backyard. I’ll be praying for y’all.

Love it, time to move in! BUT, with this fire and all of the other craziness in our world I'm reminded that we each need to take the time to set up Go Bags for each member of the family, including our animals. Extra meds, disposable contacts if you use them, scans and hard-copies of important documents. Food, feeds and water. Set up your go plans and go over with your children. Praying for you that the rain comes and knocks these fires out. You have worked so very hard, time to really enjoy and celebrate it!

Praying for many days of soaking rain from heaven, no storms just heavy soaking downpours to put out the fires and save the lives of all involved.
Melissa you have my dream oven. We are going to build in a few years and you two have helped us make so many of the decisions. The oven and claw foot tub are my two must haves. It's a true joy to watch you build your dream, and see your little one grow.
I absolutely love the bed frames! The fires are so close and the smoke must be intolerable. I hope you and your complete family (animals included) are safe and the fires don't come any closer. During the late '70's early '80's I lived in Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) and had to deal with the smoke from forest fires northwest of the city. It was brutal and a 1/4" of ash was over everything outside. What a cleanup. I can't imagine living as close to the fires are you do. Stay safe and I hope if you were ordered to evacuate, you didn't waste any time leaving. How large does a fire have to be before the government sends in water bombers or fire retardant? GOOD LUCK! STAY SAFE!

Hi. We are a Homestead in Southwestern Oregon in the Cascade Range. We are no strangers to wildfires which occur on average no less than three times per year. Those are the one's within a ten mile radius of the homestead. My son Jeremy is a wildland firefighter and is currently assigned to a fire in Idaho defending homes and heritage sites. I wish the best of luck for you guys.

Those fires bring horrid flashbacks to a couple of years ago. I’m on the Far South Coast of NSW Australia and vividly remember watching the flames coming closer to my home and family. The smell of bushfire smoke, the ash and the constant heightened anxiety day and night can certainly take its toll. I wish you all the best of good luck and praying for good rain. Take care.

keeping that balance is not easy especially during the incredible amount of work you all have been putting in to your dream home, raising your family, home teaching during the school year, all the animals that demand so much of your time and attention, the garden, the volunteer work you put in especially during the holidays, reaching out to contractors to get the stuff done on your home that you knew would be better off being done by a professional , keeping in touch with friends and family through it all, editing thousands of hours of video. all of it makes me feel exhausted just thinking about it . lol somehow someway you have managed all of it and I have to say you all did it with such grace and patience .

We are in a similar situation totally ringed by fire, I don't think our air will be breathable until we get soaking rains again. It's eerie to go outside and see burnt pine needles and ash covering our vehicles. Still, no threat of evacuation in our town. Praying for all of Idaho as we handle this late, ferocious fire season! Stay safe, and keep those fire lines cut.
