I have amd 6800u and 7840u handhelds and with an egpu they can run aaa pcvr games just fine, even at high/ultra settings (hl alyx, lone echo 1/2 etc.). Usng virtual desktop and enabling asynchronous spacewarp really helps.
I can see this can start being a portable VR system just have it wired to save the glitchy screen problem, then carry a battery and hook it to the legion go, put everything in a ventilated net bag or backpack some sort and there you can do free locomotion VR in a wide open space. lol
@@sdutangoand you get the added benefit of being able to play non vr games on a handheld. I can imagine if you need the extra performance for VR an external gpu is always an option
I bought today and tried with beam ng, very resource intensive game. It runs very smooth (non vr) and it’s decent in low quality in pcvr. I’ll say this, if this device had 16gb ram + 16gb vram it would literally be a portable vr gaming device. But as it is now it’s not feasible to buy this just to run vr, you will be disappointed if this is your true intentions id wait for the msi claw coming this month which has better specs. Regardless the Legion Go outperformed the Acer Preditor Helios Neo 16 ($850 rtx4060 gaming laptop) which couldn’t even run steam vr decently so I’m surprised that this small form factor is doing this but yet it’s gonna run flight sim + vr at same time so it’s a hard no. I’d like pcvr at higher graphics Lol.
Haha you can use ether a cable or WiFi connection as you like but I recommend WiFi for the convenience just make sure if possible connect your legion go with an Ethernet port for the lowest latency or have it close to your router so it can have the best Signal I was a little far away from my router but worked great!
Great video, thank you. Since there where a loooot of updates, even with "drastic" performance improvements. Can you please retry the VR games with the newest updates to see if there is a difference?
Well in my own testing without the screen recording software it still ran almost the same so that was not fully an issue but it’s still good running the games
I don't own a Legion Go but from my experience with normal pc airlink, immidiate yes. The difference between wired and wireless is extraordinary. If you don't play wired you are missing out on a massive amount of performance.
I tried the Quest 3 with Rog Ally with Alyx and No Mans Sky and worked great.
Were you wired or we you wireless using steam vr app or virtual desktop?

but at what cost?
geeez, thanks for the video, i was waiting for that :D

True I actually took my legion go to a party last night and took my quest 2 and was a showstopper!
They used to have Vr backpacks many a year ago that were just gaming laptops but with straps to put it on your back, same concept
@@NovaCaine2489 yeah, pretty much, but this looks smaller to work with

Definitely 🎉 that’s the first thought that came to my head when I saw this system ! I’m getting it for Christmas 😊
But how dose it perform in vrchat. Can you go to a public world with 30+ people?
Can you do this with the psvr 2?

Will you try with Lenovo glasses as well?
Don’t have those in hand now but I do have the Nreal Airs and they seem to work pretty great on the legion go ! I’ll do a video if interested
So can I hook my meta quest to it. Nevermind nice!!

I played riven remake in VR on legion go. Not super fluid but very enjoyable. I think it can run super hot quite good may be at lower res.
would you say the screen recording software affected how well the games ran?
Well in my own testing without the screen recording software it still ran almost the same so that was not fully an issue but it’s still good running the games
Thinking about buying this for pc vr will it run re2 vr mod? I recently sold my pc to free up space and was looking at this as a great alternative
Does quest 2 display is good then 4k tv or not, does text is smooth or not?
It does look clear but there might be times where it does fuzz a little due to internet connection you know text is legible as well
Is it actually very playable to be used for pcvr????
now add an epgu and bam youve got a good portable pcvr setup for like 1k
It’s laggy how do I fix it. Yours seems to be way smoother than mine
it’s your wifi, it’s slower, you need a really high wifi speed, mine is 300 mbps but the quality was low, and there were frequent stuttering.
can you turn off the screen to conserve power whilst you use vr?
Yes
Would it go smoother if you connect it with a cord??

@@legowyn24 maybe not on a handheld ,maybe too much for a processor gpu integrated .. wireless lighter maybe?
Can it run Fallout 4 VR?
borderlands 2 probably would work
Did you have the go on custom tdp?
No I just used performance tdp and efficiency on the OS power
😡 "promo sm"
Promo what do you mean ?
