The drummers complete and total Elvinesque fluid control over music. 4) the rhythmic and dynamic interplay between all 5) the bass drum and soloists all converge around their own respective version of the beat. This creates a beautiful fluid swing. No riders. 6) piano and Sax each peep a really unique aspect of this tune. Yea yeah yeah it’s a driving uptempo natural minor hard bop thing. But it’s THING us the jumpish feel underneath. Sax and piano both rode the fu
Just started learning this song with the group I’m playing with, Wow, I am really looking forward to seeing and hearing what we will do with this song. I’m so inspired by this version.
Wow im no musician or nothing but just love jazz and a lot of Adderleys stuff especially with the Quintet and even Septet. Especially Jeannine, Work song, and This here. Love the live recordings very much. that aside, these musicians killed it! Enjoyed it so much. thank you. I have been looking for some current jazz musicians from the era we are in and it seems like the genre is in very good hands.
I fall in love with your playing more and more with every new line I hear you play, man. Seriously incredible stuff. You bring a level of organicism that is so uniquely your own to your improv, please never stop
“Last time - Last time I saw Jeannine She looked - Just like a royal queen!” Patrick has tapped into that ebullient Cannonball rhythmic drive without sounding like Cannonball - absolutely stellar! The trio is, once again, super human. I especially dug that 12 seconds of telepathy starting at 9:58 between Kyle and Emmet while the bassist locked it down - so much energy!!
What incredible skill. I am amazed. Thank you Patrick for sharing this with the world. One can't help but notice, though, the age of this crowd. We have to carry the torch of this fantastic art forward into new generations.
Many X Infinite thanks. Great panorama of the audience - an overall soaring performance transported to another reality with a sense of tredpidation and awe! (Emmet even got in a little Ferde Grofe.)
Patrick, I've always loved this song and now even more now that I've heard your inspired interpretation! I'm glad I discovered you relatively early in your career. Will be following you as you continue your musical journey and discovery. Wishing you continued blessings and happiness! Keep the joy in your playing and never let music become a job.
every time i hear you play it amazes me. IMO you have such a unique sound and style of playing, it makes me just drop my jaw. you are the reason i love to practice the alto
Love this tune and Patrick is ridiculous! Only criticism is I wish the bass and drums would dial it WAY back when the soloists start their solos and let the soloist dictate when the energy should build.
Jah neen! Where are you my love? Swinging guys! Can anyone tell my what happened to the drummers snare? Go*damn the bassist is swinging his jazz off while the pianist is playing some bu88shit!
It’s pretty much inevitable to drag at a speed like this. You just have to know how to deal with it. In this case? Undoubtedly pushing was the way to go. Better to keep the energy moving forward than letting it drag behind and die out.
The Adderley bros would love this
I love seeing and hearing u play with Emmet, especially if its a tune by Adderley! You all are killing it, glad to see live shows return!
I don't think Adderley wrote it, but yes Patrick is special!
Duke Pearson wrote it and Cannonball plays the definitive version, imho. But, Patrick and the whole EC trio here absolutely bring it!!
@@ricaardNat Adderley, I think write this tune.
@@biwc-erie3618 Duke Pearson.
You all keeping me reaching for it and i am 76 and I thank you for raising the bar!
Athletic performance from Nakamura-san!
Patrick is a MAN on the sax! Transporting!!
These Cats are Badass !! Exiting drive !! WHOA !! 😎🎶🎷🎹

So much energy that my cell battery charged from 2% to 💯%

Patrick, at 5:10 it sounded like you quoted Delfino Plaza from Super Mario Sunshine! Was that intentional? Either way, awesome stuff, brother!
Thanks to my favorite sax player for sending this!
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
What’s the song at the very end? Must find
They took a while to slip into Jannine but then they got goin. This song is like that.
Cannonball- kenny gerret- ZANE MUZA- PATRIC.
Man I would love to hear this with a better mix. Everyone is ripping. Bass just too loud…
My problem is with the snare, sounds like a firearm whenever he hits it
Someone should master that. Got to deal with that punching bass. AKG sax microphone.
Love this tune and Patrick is ridiculous! Only criticism is I wish the bass and drums would dial it WAY back when the soloists start their solos and let the soloist dictate when the energy should build.
良いなぁ。🙄
ベースの日本人がタイム感一人だけ違うな。。。
Bassists has a nice feel and interpretation of this tune. He’s pushing it and the drummer too!
Jah neen! Where are you my love? Swinging guys!
Can anyone tell my what happened to the drummers snare?
Go*damn the bassist is swinging his jazz off while the pianist is playing some bu88shit!
Shepherd's Chapel Network !!!!!!! Pastor Murray is an Anointed Servant of GOD who teaches the Word of GOD with Authority!!!!!!!
Snare side should've been mic'd for articulation in final mix.... overall mix is loud (players)...Smh....
Fire whoever did the mics for the kit, every single snare hit sounds like a thunderclap and a balance is way off- at least to my ears.
Anyone else feel like the bass is rushing at times?
No. Bassist was correct to push, or it will be a drag on the tempo.
It’s pretty much inevitable to drag at a speed like this. You just have to know how to deal with it. In this case? Undoubtedly pushing was the way to go. Better to keep the energy moving forward than letting it drag behind and die out.
No, yasuhis playing keeps bringing me back here. Especially that intro.
Too frantic...it never settled
