Hello Allen, l myself have some psu problems and I think on some sets the P.F.C. circuit can be bypassed it's probably the start up supply to the smp ic via 5/6 +300k 1/32 watt resisters, maybe short 1out. I'll try it myself shortly. regards Edward (SA)
Hi Allen very much enjoy your fixes the Samsung firmware one in particular wondered how you got to the right chip as there was others nearby.(I guess you've done a few)
Fixed nonetheless. Interested to know what the IC is, there are some suppliers who buy surplus stock and a search may be worthwhile (though all in China).
iam guessing that power supply was hansol? i would have gone for a psu recap if it was my set or esr test if someone elses and got it wrong ,always wondered if active pfc could be bypassed as a diagnostic exercise ,you answered the question i never asked! lol
What is it with backlights and humidity, is that really a thing or is just me, TV worked perfect all year but hasn't rained in a year but then one day it rains hard and now there's humidity half the backlights are out and flickering all the time but now today it much dryer and I been watching all the backlights fix themselves and start working again, so very strange. It a good TV as long as it never rains😦
Hello Allen hello everyone I've found the fault on this board as im just learning it's a diode can anyone help please tell me what to order sb5100 and pc33269 are numbers not sure ifits pec but don't think so anyhelp would be great please thank you is it 100v 5amp please thank you I watch alot of repair videos and I'm learning
It's an interesting situation. You warranty your work for 12 months. Let's say £100. The repair shop offers 30 days warranty, for your and their work: £200. TV fails after 90 days. Repair shop refuses customer warranty as out of time, but comes back to you for their £100 per your warranty. Nice gamble for them - £200 from customer, plus £100 from you. What's not to like..?
@@will_dohertyIn reality, if the warranty was refused after 90 days, the customer would throw it in the bin. The TV wouldn't be repaired under the 12 month.
Yep, let’s pick Panasonic then, or Toshiba. Oops, manufactured by Vestel in Turkey. Ok, LG maybe, aka Goldstar as the go to brand to be sold in cheap super markets not too long ago. Well..
@@Electrotat Would you prefer the old bulky and heavy TV sets that came with the huge picture tube that did cost a monthly salary or more in the 80s? I don’t know, I’d rather prefer Samsung budget screens then.
@@marcd6897 Depends what im using them for, I prefer plasmas, I paid £1400 for the latest sony LED 2 years ago, its sitting o the wall being unused due to crap black levels, dont get me wrong its an amazing tv but the black levels in my opinion are crap so im currently using a Panasonic plasma ZT65 Which still compares to OLEDS today, that was the last plasma made, 2014 model. Living room has a Pioneer plasma without a media box as none needed as its an updated model 2012 I think, garage uses and old Sony Bravia LCD, bedroom has a Toshiba 49" crappy thing which responds 5 seconds after you press a button, worst tv ive ever bought but yes I use CRT PVM Sony monitors for certain gaming machines, PVM-20M4E. I have to admit we have a Samsung in the spare room.
Nice fix allen. You can never have enough spares.
I'm with you all the way as an old tv repair man from the 70s here in Germany. I just wish better video quality. Please forgive. Greetings Andy.
Nice fix Allen. Great upload.

Brian

Great fix sad about the prices though, thanks Allen 😊
For obsolete parts try National electronics in Camborne Duncan has a unit full of parts .
Great job, Allen. Is it a voltage reference IC? Could you read the number for us? Many thanks.

@@Edward-h3i yes most PFC circuits can be bypassed but I’d rather not for warranty work.

I wonder if theres an equivalent ic that would do the same job

Before anyone raises the point - we're talking £200 in total, not £300, as Allan was paid his £100 from the £300...
