Thanks for all the content you guys churn out! It reminds me of old TH-cam and it's oddly comforting like a weighted blanket just listening to 3 guys bicker and fawn over hockey. Keep up the great work!
Love these videos, guys! Just discovered you three recently and am catching up on all these awesome videos. I’d say one thing that was kinda innovative for Reebok that I thought was overwhelmingly good was the increasing prevalence of the “hanger effect”. Reebok pioneered it but I feel like adidas really mastered it, it’s a neat cherry on tap. Sticking in that area, I also think the collar treatments of the late Reebok era previewed adidas. The Islanders Brooklyn black jersey was the first I can remember with the stretchy neck material that came commonplace on the adizero template. Keep up the awesome content!!!
You know, you're right, and we actually caught ourselves in one of these videos and made mention of the hanger effect that Reebok introduced. I think we were gushing over Calgary's cityscape they had in the collar, and that got us thinking about that Reebok actually pioneered the idea. Thanks for watching!
Just "VANCOUVER" in big letters for anyone who was unclear. I wish I still had the meme that went around the McFarlane boards that added "British Columbia" "Canada" "We play hockey" among other things. I swear it was a ploy to sell souvenirs leading up to the 2010 Olympics. Vancouver got it right when they dropped the city name under Adidas
It’s obviously not how a hockey jersey should look but you could count the word mark and number on the front of the jerseys as something innovative for the era. Jerseys like Dallas, Atlanta third, Isles third. We probably won’t see that in hockey again.
@@RichardChips True, but that wordmark was not innovative in a good way. I think that's the overarching theme of this episode: innovative doesn't necessarily mean good.
@@superbrett95 It is actually stunning how much worse those are than 96-07 copper and blue uniforms (including the blue shoulder yoke version). I have both and have put them side by side just to realise how much Reebok sucked.
I'll be honest the lack of a bottom stripe never bothered me with the Sens and Pens during that era. It would have been a nice accent piece, but I think they look fine. And I think that is the worst part about those two is they are pretty inoffensive. I was upset the the Sharks ditched their first set of Reeboks (2008-2013) for thosr bland monstrosities theu wore for a decade. Yeab lets ditch thr shoulder yokes and the bottom stipes and make them look bland when our last look was perfect...
Man is this stuff horrible. The only jersey feature I can think of that was even remotely "innovative" is the introduction of the NHL shield at the center of the collar and that didn't even look good until the adidas era, the Reebok collars were weird, but at least the collar shield is a cool thing we still have.
Reebok - 100% my LEAST favourite ERA for hockey jerseys, I struggle to find anything complimentary to say about their version of NHL jerseys. And yep I hated the apron strings / the zero hem stripes / the incomplete striping / the weird templates / the ree-box and those stupid plastic CHROME things - ugh. I saved myself a ton of money not buying a lot of these jerseys. $50 or less on ebay can still get you a lot of them - if you want them.
One of the reasons why I never liked the Reebok era was everything was just so “cookie cutter”. Pre-Reebok, every team had its own identity. And if I’m not mistaken, didn’t teams have their own contract with the jersey manufactures sorta like the NFL did in the 90’s?

Well that was definitely an episode. 😂 Gingy was so underrated.

Glad when the Canucks did their rebrand in 07, they didn't incorporate that apron look for their jerseys

Yankee Stadium….the best part of those stadium series jerseys is that they tried failed by didn’t try to force it….oh and I hated the Reebok era
I'm pretty sure I messaged the Oilers Facebook page back in 2007 protesting that jersey. Such a horrible look!

It's a decent feature, but I hate how that renders the laces useless with the fabric in behind them. Now with Adidas they're a silly feature

They did until CCM/Koho became the exclusive provider for the league. Manufacturers have bought that contract and continued that ever since
