Because I think he couldn't speak English well enough to sing in the song, and probably there are no harsh vocals because the vocal parts seem very hard to do while playing guitar/bass at the same time.

A pity that they didn't do this with vocals. The vocal patterns for both clean and harsh parts are perfect.
