My absolute favorite part is when the entire hornline has to teleport roughly two steps towards their next dot at 3:28 Honestly though, why was this not already the drill for the actual show. I love the use of all of the symbols, and how you go from a triangle to 666 or the Illuminati symbol to the upside down cross in a matter of measures. Great work. My actual favorite part was the full corps pentagram in the opening hit
real interesting. I am mostly torn at the ballad because the upside down cross turning right side up represents so much with the story but how the show was actually done with the curtain was so damn cool too like ahhh. amazing work.
I would have liked this drill on the field by farrr. I definitely think their drill this past season was too linear and easy. This also alludes to the Inferno theme more accurately. Great job!
As a DCI super fan and a dream drill designer, I love this. I recently started playing around with free drill software and this stuff is not easy. It looks great. I especially love the satanic darkness of the drill and the rings of hell throughout. I still love the covering of the corps from Crown's show but I am assuming the software hasn't caught up to that yet. (I still imagined it there though.) Excellent job and thanks for sharing!!
Very interesting rendition with some great ideas! As a performer of this show, I also noticed staging pain points and issues that would have been hard to achieve to convey the same clarity or performance and of concept. But that's just because I've seen the drill a thousand times, and I also understand this was more for the creativity of the art instead of actual functionality. Awesome stuff!!
+ckooooooooo975 Well this isn't their actual drill, as it is just a rewrite done by myself, however I'm sure their would be some reaction to this if performed in real life.
I used to, but because of school starting up again, I don't have the time at the moment to do any other shows besides those that I must make or those that directly affect my website samples. Sorry about that, I hope you still enjoy my later videos!
I can imagine if this was their actual drill, just everyone else using cool designs and shapes and patterns and then theres just crown using *a fucking pentagram*
Good drill but I prefer the quality of the show as it evolved. The beginning inverted crown just seemed more appropriate. Glad they incorporated many of Dante's symbolism. The circles were fantastic!
There are high school and college marching bands out there- a lot of them- who could use this level of competence in their drill writing. I do think you overused the cross set a bit- use that no more than three times at the most- but damn, you did a good job here and you deserve an actual job doing this.
I respect your opinion! However the cross was indeed in the story. To be fair, I also can only write drill, I cannot add detailed choreography or any intricate props, so I needed anything I could get, otherwise it's just a bunch of blocks and curves like always ;)
+Joe Petruzzi Drill Design yea no problem! I do alot of composing/arranging for marching bands and am starting to get into drum corps writing if you ever wanna collaborate to write drill for fun I'd love to do that! I took a drill class in college last year and learned a little from it
The only thing that I see is that you probably wouldn't want the drumline in front of the horns for so long after the drum feature; up until around 4:10 is how long they're in front here. It looks cool, and I like it, but tempo issues would be a huge problem. The horns wouldn't have anything to listen back to. It's possible, maybe. But really, really, really hard. Just thought I'd share my input if you continue doing this. Great job though!
You are correct! For my high school writing my drill is no where near this challenging, do not worry! However carolina crown has demonstrated again and again that they can handle things even harder than this, so when I was doing this for fun I figured it would actually be pretty realistic. But as far as a normal group you are absolutely correct
I really like the Satanic stuff you put inside the drill because it really suits the theme of the show. I also like the part where the Flugelhorn solo ends you inverted to Satanic cross into a Christian cross, it really shows the "turning point" of the show(get it?) I like the part where they change shakos but I don't really think it's logical because how can the Mellophones play while changing shakos? (unless the Mellos stay visible to the audience while some of the colour guard help them change their shakos) But I don't think you should have incorperated the 666 and Iluminati symbols after the big hit because in the context of the story, they should have escaped from Hell, and shouldn't be under the influence of evil anymore, and therefore shouldn't make those symbols
+GuyWhoDoesStuff Thank you! My intention for the shako change was to have one side of the corps play while the others changed. Once both were under the prop, one side would continue to play behind the prop(obviously the sound situation isn't ideal). As for the closer, you can take it a few different ways. I was trying to symbolize evil being defeated. The 666 as opposed to when it was first introduced, is now being unraveled and being opened up. The Illuminati symbol also is present briefly but is immediately disintegrated into the next set. Thank you for your input, I really appreciate it!
Ok...after the announcement @0:41 there's a FULL MINUTE of showcasing! From the flag flash to the powerful sound and that crazy perfect star rotation, those great attacks and echoes, it can't get any better...or so I thought. Then I get hit with those horns @1:13-1:41!!!
Man I love this drill, The 6 and cross motifs especially connect with the show almost better than the original. I will say as advice try and space and seperate the brass more often. For most the whole show they are spaced in one group mostly together. Its great writing though.
+RandomJewGuy Yes, three others are entered in this competition, our videos are due on thanksgiving day, and voting starts the next day. I will upload a video explaining how to vote. You can also get more information out of the "DWI Teaser" I posted a couple months ago.
+cooljw1 Berlin High School, Berlin CT. Class 4A band, however we have a limited practice schedule. Hope to get a decent video of a run-through on my channel soon!
+Duaneb Tankionline It's the theme of the show, there are limited symbols to use that exemplify hell, and the upside down cross is one of them. Get over it.
+Jacob White i dont believe he's being hypersensitive; an upside down cross is an understandably taboo symbol with a pretty dark story behind it in church history. dont be so harsh and quick to judge someone over their beliefs.
Never thought I'd see a pentagram on the 50 in my life then all the 666s just amazing with that drill (and cleanliness they lacked) they coulda had a shot great job
This show was more along the lines of the aggressive Spanish theme, not really Good vs. Evil or anything like that. So the 666 and cross drill wouldn't really fit the title of Inferno. I think the people at Crown did a perfect job, and you did as well.
The only thing I change is getting rid of the illuminati eye in the closer, and make it so the drumline or guard has a straight set right through the 666, and then destroying it making a scatter of lines, all forming to make a cross, or a fish symbol.
This drill is amazing. Though I would say this drill probably woudn't of made it if it were real due to the Satanic references, Even if it's Inferno people would still get offended.
It certainly looked it! If you're interested. I've been designing just a random Marching Band show if you might be at all interested in designing drill for fun.
+Joe Petruzzi Drill Design that's perfectly fine, it's when I'll need it started anyway, we are finishing the music and handing it to the director around May. It's the music from Cats. 5 movements
some of this stuff would have been great in the actual show omg
Yeah
They should of had like lava tarps laid out on the field to make the show more cooler
My absolute favorite part is when the entire hornline has to teleport roughly two steps towards their next dot at 3:28
Honestly though, why was this not already the drill for the actual show. I love the use of all of the symbols, and how you go from a triangle to 666 or the Illuminati symbol to the upside down cross in a matter of measures. Great work. My actual favorite part was the full corps pentagram in the opening hit
this drill was really good, but i dont think 666, a pentagram, and an upside down cross would be appropriate for dci
real interesting. I am mostly torn at the ballad because the upside down cross turning right side up represents so much with the story but how the show was actually done with the curtain was so damn cool too like ahhh. amazing work.
Imagine if they had enough guard to cover the band While they were doing that movement🔥🔥
I would have liked this drill on the field by farrr. I definitely think their drill this past season was too linear and easy. This also alludes to the Inferno theme more accurately. Great job!
+Mai Thanks so much!
i mean yeah, but im pretty sure drill sets of 666, a pentagram, and an upside down cross wouldnt sit well with some people in the audience
If I was a band director I'd definitely make you my drill writer ;)
Thanks! :)
As a DCI super fan and a dream drill designer, I love this. I recently started playing around with free drill software and this stuff is not easy. It looks great. +Zachary Green Thank you very much! And yes the tarp was a little tough to beat definitely :)
Hey! I’m into drill designing! What “free” software are available?

The Illuminati eye transferring into the upside down cross was fucking sick.

+Musician4231 Thanks so much! I'm glad you understand, and congrats on a terrific season!
+Joe Petruzzi Drill Design thanks! So glad our show could inspire people like you to create a completely new vision for the music and concept.
+Musician4231 My second favorite crown show right behind 13 :)
+Musician4231
👌
The 91 star tribute is incredible, well done
okay so like I'm really religious and stuff but holy crap I would pay millions to see this actual drill on the field omg
Bri White who cares if you’re religious
@@carterwaite4665 probably because there are '666's all around, and he probably shouldn't say he liked it... I think?
Carter Waite it’s something that you would say with a show like this, did you not expect this?
The flag animation was spot on, it really mimics the real deal quite proficiently.
Jordan Simmons drop spins for days
Nice job, I was impressed by how well your drill conveyed the music. I too often see a lack in the connection between the two. Great job!
+Michael Auz Drill Designs Thanks so much!
You should try to write for a school or something
Man I was so surprised when I saw them do this in person! the whole crowed was shocked to see the satanic ritual on the field!
+ckooooooooo975 Well this isn't their actual drill, as it is just a rewrite done by myself, however I'm sure their would be some reaction to this if performed in real life.
Wow! Did a very nice job with putting powerful symbols in powerful musical moments. Even though it's digital, it still brought chills! Awesome work!!
Thank you very much!
FANTASTIC.. THIS IS THE BEST ONE I HAVE SEEN
+march winter Thanks so much!
This is better than their actual drill for this show...
Cant believe I havent seen this until now! Definitely I different interpretation of the actual drill, but also pretty damn cool. Nice work.
Thanks! I enjoyed this. Some very cool ideas at play.
+prd9601 Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome. I love the references to Star 1991 you can see in the drill for the closer.
Thanks! and good eye :)
I absolutely loved the cross to cross!!
Amazing job man, loved every bit of it.
Thanks so much!
+Joe Petruzzi Drill Design do you by chance take request for high school shows?
I used to, but because of school starting up again, I don't have the time at the moment to do any other shows besides those that I must make or those that directly affect my website samples. Sorry about that, I hope you still enjoy my later videos!
if i was a band director you'd know what i'd say, "You sir are HIRED!! welcome to the crew mate" *insert stereotypical Australian accent here*

it's soo awesome, great work
only time i'll ever say that i love the satanic stuff

seems a little too... secret society to me... sure those things represent the devil, but it doesn't exactly relate to the story.. (Dante's Inferno)

this is fantastic! I wish their actuall drill was this, might offend some people but oh wellXD

Must be fun to play around with these shapes without any regard for whether a human being can actually perform it.
If they're marching 4-5 or smaller for corps and 6-5 or smaller for drums, they're doing it ;)
I think the 666 would be frown apownd if it was performed during the finals but other than that very nice work

too much marching, not enough dancing and standing around :) Seriously though, nice job.
