Sissel, the vocalist from the big movie Titanic, sang with The Mormon Tabernacle Choir in December 2006. People who watched this concert will never forget this beautiful performance!
This has to be the best performace ever done by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchstra. Sissel's voice matches the choir perfectly and is not too high or low. Wow Bravo!!!!!
“I’m ever and always a stranger to grace. I need this annual angel visitation... to know the virgin conceives and God is with us.” - Eugene H. Peterson
@YT102008 And, though they ARE volunteers, keep in mind that they are pretty much the best in the Salt Lake area. I've known men and women that have been offered a chance to sing with them and have moved to Salt Lake to accept the honor. And they are indeed amazing for it. Sissel just adds to it, bringing it to a whole new level of 'wow'.
Marvellous! And very beautiful lyrics, too. I think I envy all the lucky ones who were there that evening. Such performance must be something unforgettable.
This song is the finale of a Christmas Concert and it's sung at the end of every Mormon Tab Christmas Concert. Watch the whole concert to see songs featuring Sissel alone.
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (Jan. 2, Christmas 2), I filled in at a local Lutheran Church and played this as the opening hymn. However, it was to the tune, REGENT SQUARE, composed by Henry T. Smart, 1813-1879. And the refrain is "Come and worship, come and worship, Worship Christ, the newborn king." It is #275 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship.
Enchanting! What a gorgeous voice Sissel has! I'd never heard of her until today. Thank you for sharing this magnificent musical presentation on YOU TUBE.
Sissel is also the voice of the norwegian dubbed disney version of The little mermaid. In case anyone was wondering. hehe she's from my hometown Bergen :)
I think from the look on Sissels face that this was one of the most exhilirating moments in her singing career... to have such a huge backing would be amazing. BTW did I see her levitate somewhere there lol...
The producers of this TV-concert have named this song "Angels, From The Realms Of Glory" as you can see at the beginning. The choir also start the song by singing this sentence. The song could possibly have the wrong title, but I have just named the song as it is done in the concert.
In the United States, the hymn is today most commonly sung to the tune of "Regent Square" by Henry Smart.[1] In the United Kingdom, however, the hymn came to be sung to the French carol tune "Iris"[2] (Les anges dans nos campagnes, the tune used for "Angels We Have Heard on High") after this setting was published in the Oxford Book of Carols[1], except that the "Gloria in excelsis Deo" refrain is sung in place of Montgomery's original "Come and worship Christ the new-born King' refrain.
Why don't they ever sing the 4th part? "Sinners, wrung with true repentance, Doomed for guilt to endless pains, Justice now revokes the sentence, Mercy calls you-break your chains"!
thank you...I grew up hearing better than this...& not thousands upon thousands were spent on set, costuming, & much more. Someone please tell me why they do not help their own...& many members leave & many die needlessly...lifelong acquaintances & relatives. I wish I didn't feel this way...but she managed to ruin 2 of my favorite songs. She did look the greatest I have ever seen her look (except in her youth) in one performance..but my goodness who wouldn't with all that so many do for her. Even blurring wrinkles in close ups except long lines on side of face. ( I saw her on a talk show on internet...soooo unfair to both men & women alike...not to mention insulting our intelligence.)
+300angel003 because only muslims can be extremsists nowaday and being tagged as "not all muslims" :c Like I'm what you can call a "nowaday templar" I'll be glad to sing such Choirs But i can't so i'll stay with Powerwolf Kinda similar but kinda more arsh with the infidels
@John1Chr Why don't you listen to the MUSIC being sung? While the words may have some similarity to the original Angels From the Realms of Glory, it is not it. They are singing the lyrics of "Angels From the Realms of Glory" to the tune of "Angels We Have Heard On High". That is why @edgehringer is calling the publisher of the video out on the title being wrong. Also, the "Gloria in Excelsis Deo" was NOT part of the original "Angels From the Realms of Glory" song. The original lyrics were "Come
I have this on an SACD, but it's not this particular performance. What I like about the one that I have is that the prime vocalist (like in this case) does NOT overpower the choir. Most of the performances on here have that problem. This one is far more harmonious between the main vocals and the rest. Which is good.
If you are listening to this stunning rendition, wondering if there is a Jesus- He is real. He's complete, tender love and He wants to know you. Look for Him and you'll easily find Him.
There are two separate carols to the same tune. This carol is Angels From the Realms of Glory whilst the other one is Angels We Have Heard on High. This however is a beautiful rendition of Angels From the Realms of Glory. Before castigating someone for 'an error' it would be wise before jumping to conclusions.
Wow. Do you ever leave your house, look out your window? Or do you just assume your small world is all there is? Hymns are texts (i.e. poems). Hymn tunes are the melodies to which hymns can be set. Almost every hymn you can find has multiple tunes; and almost every tune has multiple texts to which it has been paried. This tune has the enviable distinction of have both great "Angel" hymns paired with it in different church traditions.
With all due respect to the choir, as good as they were, I wanted to hear more of Sissel's singing. She kind of got drowned out. Yes, I know people will argue that this song requires a strong choir but I would have like to heard Sissel by herself just a little bit.
Perhaps the correct title of "Angels We Have Heard on High". is from an old tune, learned in youth. Look stuff up. Music sung to an English tune, how much attendance do you require?
Wow.... you're hostile for no reason. "Angels, From the Realms Glory" is a text. The tune to which it is set is of little consequence, as every tune has its own name as well. Listen to the text and you will hear it is, in fact, 'Angels From the Realms...." "Angels We Have Heard..." is an entirely different text. Perhaps you're used to hearing it set to the tune "Regent Square" (a tune also used for the hymn "Lo, He Comes With Clouds Descending."
cette chanson est une chanson française traditionnelle qui date du XVI siècle ou XVIII siècle, plusieurs versions (paroles surtout) sont connues voila pourquoi vous ne la reconnaissez pas
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir rewrote the song in a sense compiling the version of that song you mentioned above with Angels, from the Realms of Glory and with bits Angels, We Have Heard On High
Dillon Chavez Both of you are correct. The hymn is sung to two tunes. In the US we tend to hear a piece titled Regent Square used. In Great Britain they tend to use the French carol which is also used for "Angels We Have Heard on High" I like both. In fact I've heard both so many times it's hard for me to tell them apart. This has the "In Excelsis Deo: refrain substituted for Montgomery's original ... another twist.
Um, this is not Angels From the Realms of Glory... It's Angels We Have Heard on High. Totally different song. I see that others have commented on that, as well. Perhaps you should take the time and correct this glaring error?
Okay, that is *not* Angels from the Realms of Glory. That's Angels We Have Heard on High with the lyrics messed up. *Why* do they find it necessary to do that??? They are 2 separate and distinct songs. The *real* Angels from the Realms of Glory is becoming *hard to find* because of this ridiculous nonsense.
Proof that angels exist.
BEAUTFUL AS USUAL
full choir + sissel's solo performance = heaven
It's not Christmas but I love this song every season...
So do I!
This has to be the best performace ever done by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchstra. Sissel's voice matches the choir perfectly and is not too high or low. Wow Bravo!!!!!
It was very unforgettable! One of the best performances I've ever been to.

I'm listening to this in May. That's when you know it's good.
Listening in September rn. Can’t wait for Christmas
If I saw this live, I would have probably cried.
I still feel that they sang this almost perfectly
Praise to God! Hallelujah
There simply are no words sufficient to such beauty!
@YT102008 And, though they ARE volunteers, keep in mind that they are pretty much the best in the Salt Lake area. I've known men and women that have been offered a chance to sing with them and have moved to Salt Lake to accept the honor.

Spectacular!!! That was a complete masterpiece.
MoMoM
Masterpieces it is Merry Christmas!
Marvellous! And very beautiful lyrics, too.
I think I envy all the lucky ones who were there that evening. Such performance must be something unforgettable.
OMG these choir is soooo nice. I love their voices and harmonies
That was moving!
oh! awesome one of the best choir performance. Sissels voice & composure & smile is incomparable
She is right, we are singing this song for a carol concert, its angels, from the realms of glory
I will never forget this beautiful concert!
Absolute brilliance! Merry Christmas everyone!
this was one of the best concerts the M.T.C. Had held.

quelle magnifique interprétation, quelle voix, quels choeurs et merci à You Tube, et au hasard, qui m'a fait découvrir Sissel!
I think it’s time I told you I am photo old for you. I’m sad to say that, but I can still love you in a Different Way,. God bless.❤❤❤❤❤😊

I love when the flute part starts :)
Magnifico!
Simplesmente Magnífico

It is a pity that different people have different opinions but just for this festivity, please do not fight over this beautiful Christmas.
Soy ateo, pero admiro este coro de voces y a Sissel como solista...
You welcome! Check out the Titanic movie as well, Sissel sings the vocals you know;)
Really?
My favorite version by far. Rene Fleming's version comes in a close second.
OMG so beautiful... EVERYTHING... Praise to the LORD XD
wow, that's good...
Why don't they ever sing the 4th part?

Let me get this straight, you are referring to Sissel and BLAMING her for all the worlds woes!!! That is a bit much TO SWALLOW!!!
What are you talking about?
I am not sure! My response was to a person's post that I no longer see.
+300angel003 because only muslims can be extremsists nowaday and being tagged as "not all muslims" :c
Like
I'm what you can call a "nowaday templar"
I'll be glad to sing such Choirs
But i can't so i'll stay with Powerwolf
Kinda similar but kinda more arsh with the infidels
My favorite rendition by far. Rene Fleming's is a close second.
👍👍👍👍👍
hii!i'm a mormon, thnx for the video!^^

If I can find the disk, I'll tell you. Just got finished moving, so....
@@devanhite4721 Doesn't matter. Renee Fleming for one...
If you are listening to this stunning rendition, wondering if there is a Jesus- He is real. He's complete, tender love and He wants to know you. Look for Him and you'll easily find Him.
Just a friendly note: The conference center at Temple Square is capable of seating 21,000 people. :)

This however is a beautiful rendition of Angels From the Realms of Glory. Before castigating someone for 'an error' it would be wise before jumping to conclusions.
I am pretty sure it's the biggest choir I've ever seen. How many people were there? 500 maybe? Anyway, they did a great job:)

I glory in my Jesus 2 Nephi 33:6

@OldSuffolk : I can hear Sissel quite clearly and easily in this recording. Perhaps it's your speakers?
much like what the angels at the Manger might have sounded like, I imagine.
Agreed
I also agree!!!!!!
Perhaps the correct title of "Angels We Have Heard on High". is from an old tune, learned in youth. Look stuff up. Music sung to an English tune, how much attendance do you require?
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the song is gorgeous so who cares what they call it... its a mix of both
Celine Dion sings My Heart Will Go On, but Sissel sings all the vocals.

Why can't they do this at the Super Bowl half time show?
Oh, stop. Don't try so hard, anyone can look stuff up just to create a discussion. It's music, it's beautiful, just let it be.

Did anybody hear Sissel?????????
Angels we have Heard o High not realms of Glory
dont get it twisted
Actually this is a different song entirely. Same basic melody and chorus with entirely different lyrics as well as some tweaks in the melody.
The video is mistitled. This is NOT Angels from the Realms of Glory, but rather Angels We Have Heard on High.
Gloria in Excelsis Deo
this is mistitled. It's not Angels from the Realms of Glory, but In Excelsias Deo (spelling off, I know)
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir rewrote the song in a sense compiling the version of that song you mentioned above with Angels, from the Realms of Glory and with bits Angels, We Have Heard On High

Dillon Chavez It's done all the time. Sometimes good, sometimes bad.
Little plus : In French, the Carol is named "Les anges dans nos campagnes" (wich means "Angels in our fields")
You, and the producers, are correct. Sarah apparently isn't as familiar with this carol as she thinks she is.

Is there a black Mormon choir?
a siete personas no les gusta esto por que sera?

This is not Angels From the Realms of Glory: it is Angels We Have Heard On High.
Celine Dion sings the Titanic theme
Its just amazing and great but I wonder when in Europe will be forbidden, same as Christmas and Jesus, etc. just to don't "hurt" refugees...
Ashia Live&Love Don't worry. They wont. Christmas is hugely commercialised by the market.
+Ashia lmao
Never forget
Every year we sing these kind of cantics (or idk how you call it in English) with me church
