Thanks a lot for posting this. A couple of things spring to mind: Firstly, I hadn't realised how distinctive the original singer's voice is; he is so much THE voice of the frog that it never occurred to me it could be anything else, so the new singer just feels WRONG even though he's a perfectly good singer. It's the same with the differences in animation. Secondly, for all his popularity, I'm glad Michigan J Frog only got two official appearances; he's not a versatile character, he's only got one joke (albeit a very good one) so he would get boring quickly if he became a regular character. The cleverness of this cartoon was actually giving him a second joke when the ending reveals what he really wanted all this time!
I just noticed it. Yes, those are Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert, in animated form anyway. They usually gave a thumbs down to a movie if they didn't approve of it.
In the 1990s, people were able to replicate exactly the spirit, atmosphere, and animation style of the 1950s. And it turned out much better than trying to repeat the old animation in modern digital realities. After all, the complete abandonment of traditional manual animation was the most stupid, erroneous and unreasonable decision. It's like stopping selling brushes and paints in stores for artists who paint paintings, replacing them with computer programs. We have lost a whole layer of human culture embodied in hand-made animation. The movements and emotions of the characters will not be able to convey the way they did before. Digital animation, and especially the current similar style of "CalArts", deprived the characters of the feeling that they are living and independent characters, and not the same type of blanks from a ready-made template. And I really hope that one day we will return to traditional animation, which will be more highly paid and will encourage ordinary artists to draw in this particular style compared to 3D or Paint.
Fair point, but on the contrary, Chuck Jones’ last ever project was a Flash cartoon on the Internet. Also, the last hand-drawn cartoon with a more flourished animation style imo, was Spongebob/The Patrick Star Show, and even that was highly debatable in of itself.
My question is why didn't William Roberts who voiced the original Frog in 1954/1955 not do this? He could have done it since he died in 1997. I love these and am sad to hear that WB didn't even credit these amazing people back then. 🙄 🐸 😊
*Plot twist:* A frog is an alien vessel sent to Earth by an ancient alien race billions of years ago to destroy all wannabe entrepreneurs that plan getting rich over night 😂 ps. Since i posted a comment before i watched the whole video, now that i know the frog speaks Martian, and sings a duet with one, kind of confirms my theory 🤣
What a missed opportunity they had when this character was first seen. If they would have thought of this in the 1950s, people probably would have found it hilarious to have Marvin actually understand his croaks.
They were known for their “thumbs up, thumbs down” system of reviewing movies, which they probably got from the Romans, so it would be fitting to represent them here.
Happy July birthdays to Bugs Bunny & Marvin The Martin @ 0:06 and 8:09. Roger & Ebert and Chuck Jones’ cameo appearances @ 5:27-5:30 Pussyfoot’s special guest star shot @ 5:40.
You know, the guy on the island could have made a deal with the frog. Either the frog sing and make him a lot of money, or he cooks the frog and eats him for dinner. That certainly would have gotten the frog to do his singing. Also, you have to notice that the frog lived over 300 million years and did not once have a bite of anything to eat. Frogs don't usually live that long, especially without eating.
"Hello mah darlin', hello my mah baby, hello mah rag time gal!!!!!!"
It never gets old!!!! 😁😆😂😂😆😁😁😆😂😂😆😁
I love the ending here. Marvin actuality understands what that frog was trying to say. Plus, their harmony part is spot on.
Ikr Marvin is too precious 🥰

Three appearances: he was the mascot for the WB for what, 11 years? Gave him really nice send-off too.
This WHOLE time Michigans croaks were basically him asking his current owners if they wanted him to sing? Wow that’s actually a great twist.
They couldn't use the recording form the original?
I guess chuck jones was at one point good friends with jeff mccarthy that he didnt want to reuse the song from the 50s
Makes the original and this one so much more hilarious
@@kiartoons2010 the 50s had better vocals!!
Oh goody goody gumdrops!
I can't with the ending 😂😂😂😂
That caveman who built Stonehenge all by himself, just to show off a singing frog. That's some dedication
7:48 *My favorite song of all time🩵❤️😍*
8:47 *BRAVISSIMO🥹🩵❤️🤍🌹🌹*
The return of Michigan J. Frog!
_"We've got a show called 'Muscle', folks. It's a brand-new series right here at The WB!"_
2:39 Stonehenge
4:54 Caesar Salad
5:29 Are those the Movie Critics?
6:34 Yankee Doodle
8:09 Oh, goody goody! It’s Marvin.
Beautiful

Poor frog just wanted a singing partner, and those greedy stooges just wanted to profit off of him. Greed gets you nowhere!
This episode came up with the best, final, unbeatable version of "Moonlight Bay".
Cartoons that make people laugh. Miss them.
5:57 *What a beautiful voice😍🩵🩵❤️ sighs a voice of an angel*
This frog has a natural talent for singing. For a frog, he can sing dang well
I remember my stuffed animal of MJ Frog… Timeless character!
Ever notice that the guy who discovers the frog in these cartoons over the years is always the same guy? A lot of ancestors apparently.
Clearly their lineage is cursed with that frog.
Love the split-second Pussyfoot cameo @ 5:40 (who's also barely visible following the lions/tigers down the street right after).
Ha. That's just adorable.
The Immortal Singing Frog.
This is The WB Television Network from 1995 to 2006 The Home of Michigan J. Frog
Kiss the frog, baby!
Michigan J. Frog: Yeah!!!!!;
Michigan J Frog treats us with beautifully sang renditions of Moonlight Bay,Yankee Doodle, The Prisoners Song and The Rest of The World Goes By.
That ending was actually quite satisfying.
the mystery of stonehenge
solved!
it was built to stage elaborate dancing frog shows 💚
Something tells me this was made because of the launch of The WB
I think this came before the wb became a channel
More like the 40th anniversary of the original cartoon.
This is one of my all-time favorite, and probably the most popular cartoon; of all time
Excellent dudes!! Bravissimo 9,991% yo.
The return of Michigan J. Frog!
8:53 Very awesome duet!
8:48 Jeff Bennett and Bob Bergen perform a duet for the ending

Well said
😊 I couldn't agree with you more but I think the higher corporates want to see how dumb the art can get and still make a lot of money out of it😢

At least we know one moral: never waste your time and money on Michigan J Frog. He will not perform for anyone but the one who finds and keeps him.
Kiss the frog! The official WB mascot.
5:29 I didn't know Siskiel and Ebert had Roman ancestors!
So that’s what Stonehenge is really for.
Awesome songs dude

This One’s Provided By Jeff McCarthy (One Of Mel Blanc’s Ancestors).! 😊❤️
Looney Tunes “Another Froggy Evening” (Re-dub) voice cast:
Fred Tatasciore as Michigan J. Frog
Eric Bauza as Marvin the Martian
What a missed opportunity they had when this character was first seen. If they would have thought of this in the 1950s, people probably would have found it hilarious to have Marvin actually understand his croaks.
I thought this would end in the year 1955 with the constrution worker finding the box with the frog in it.
5:28 what are Siskel and Ebert doing here?
I dont know cameo

You and the timestamps said it!
How did Marvin the Martian get in this cartoon?
I don’t know. But, one thing’s for sure, you can never tell what can happen in an animated cartoon.
@@hilaryjameslyall2133 Either that or Chuck Jones did this!
@@hamursh Chuck Jones did do it! Read the opening credits.

My favorite part. 5:57
Moral of the story. You just might have to speak someone's language to get what you want

La rana matusalen ( y su pretendido explotador/descubridor igual)
Ah, Karma...
If only he had a camera 😂
Always the same schmo.
Somebody explain to me how it is that a man in the caveman era sees a box that is from the 1800s and a tap dancing show with a cane from the 1800s?
The frog is an SCE.
1:39-1:56
4:35 ФУУУУУУУУУ!!
I always hated this cartoon
How come?
8:36-Yes. Yes it is.
8:54-I love a happy ending....🥲
