What I do is battle the elite 4 over and over again knowing that I have no chance of winning until my pokemon are at level 60 or higher. Eventually, after about 20 attempts I win.

gen one you could run out of PP, if you were at 0 you had to use another attack till you ran completely out and gained a physical only move that would do dmg to you too.
