    Thank you for the video. I’ve been eyeing this storage system for the last year and have decided to get it as it appeals to my space and organization wants.

    This looks great! I started out with bobbins but quickly grew to despise them. So inefficient. I'm moving on to floss drops but I do love how neat and orderly this system looks!

    Very helpful video that helped me decide between a couple of different storage solutions for supersized full coverage pieces. Can't wait for my order to arrive!

    Thanks for sharing! I have never tried cross stitch but beginning to think about it. This kind of videos is really helpful 🤗👍

    Thank you for sharing! I might buy this system for my extra skeins of floss that aren't part of my master set.

    I prefer floss away or stitchbow. No winding.

  • @sheilaclark6122
    @sheilaclark6122 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You could use the extra bit of string that you snip off that is extra to loop through the skein. Then you could secure it to the back of the number by tape or glue dots.

    I've been stitching for 40 years and love my bibbin system. I recently updated my floss boxes to a small chest that holds Everything. I am trying the stitchbow for traveling projects. This seems fussy and complicated to me.

    • @RachelRaeCraft
      @RachelRaeCraft  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Maybe so, but then again I am not fond of bobbins myself, so it works for me and projects I don't travel with :)

    Thanks for the video Rachel. Is it at all possible to have longer strands in that system? I really like the loop method for starting my thread.

    • @RachelRaeCraft
      @RachelRaeCraft  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, you'll need to purchase the "long" pages. 😊

    Question, if your kit has more thread of one number that doesn't fit in the tube where do you put the rest without messing up the count?

    • @RachelRaeCraft
      @RachelRaeCraft  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I keep my second skeins in the project bag with the chart and fabric 😍

  • @texadianstitcher

    With a system like this, where do you store the partial length you pulled out if you didn't use it all?
    Also with my luck, trying to pull 1 or 2 threads would get the bottom all mucked up.
    I hope the system works for some, but leaving on skeins & bobbins seems easier for me.

    • @thestitchmenagerie
      @thestitchmenagerie ปีที่แล้ว

      That was my first thought too! Where/how do you store your unused lengths. I use stitch bows and just loop them through the hole on the label side... Much like looping through the bobbin hole.

      Yeah, I’m not too fond of this method myself, but whatever works for ya. I currently use bobbins, but I hate the little kinks that cause knots, so I’m shopping around for a new method.

    There is no way I could do this. My limited time is for stitching not going through this. I use Floss-A-Way bags in a box made for them and am quite happy with it

    • @karidrgn
      @karidrgn ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. I never saw the use of bobbins for the same reason.

      I had separated all of my floss bads, on rings, keeping 1-99, 100-199, etc. In boxes for these floss bags. Just recently moved with paying for movers to box my "stuff" ...
      Yep, they emptied the itemized boxes, in to a bigger box, & trashed the LABELED boxes.... when I opened that specific packed box, I was aghast!!! .
      At least, they didn't remove the rings, too! Now what?
      I chose a tie hanger for the closet and placed each large ting on each rung of the hanger. Works even better!
      Then, I found CVS has "medicine bags" which are smaller, so I place the much shorter & usable lengths of floss, wound around a finger, into the smaller bag & just add it into the hanging floss bag! When I have more of one floss #'d skeins, it fits in the floss bag, too !!

    Why though ?? Have been stitching for over 50 years & have never needed to do this.... It's a lot of extra work to take off a number & put a different label on isn't it ? Or am I missing something here ??

    • @RachelRaeCraft
      @RachelRaeCraft  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's faster than putting them on bobbins for me. No need to change if you like the way you're doing things, just a new idea 😎👍

    • @thestitchmenagerie
      @thestitchmenagerie ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does come in handy when you have limited space for storage. I think this system is interesting, but I see some issues it doesn't address and new ones it creates. I like the stitch bow system from DMC because I utterly dislike bobbins. And with stitch bows, no need to rewind on another tool. But I can appreciate the tidiness of these items.

    • @christinafidance340
      @christinafidance340 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s kinda funny to me that all of the older stitchers tend to have much more simple ways of organizing and many just keep their floss right in the skeins. You’d just think it’d be the other way around!

    • @thestitchmenagerie
      @thestitchmenagerie ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@christinafidance340 It's because we didn't have all the fancy gadgets that are available now. When I started embroidery when I was 9 years old, there was really only bobbins. Then when I came back to stitching in my early 20s there was Floss Bags and Stitch Bows. I started out with floss bags because it made it easy to store the cut pieces that I didn't finish using. But as my collection grew, the bags got out of hand. So I tried the stitch bows, and haven't looked back. I also, don't precut my floss to any certain length. I count the turns of the Stitch Bow as I unravel what I need.

      Not necessarily. I just purchased a huge 850k stitch project that will take literally years to complete under the best case scenario. I want a system that will keep things tidy and easy to manage long term and will be somewhat resistant to mishaps given the amount of time this project will be in progress. To me, the time spent to organize floss this way for this type of project is well worth it.
