      @@Yvonne_ennovY I do see a difference. It is subtle, and it’s more in tone. Mini Mauvette, to me, is well named and is a purple-y/mauve and Garnetta is more reddish. If that makes sense.

    I bought 3 of the Invincibelle Ruby and they were beautiful when they began blooming. Beautiful ruby color. This year though they have turned a green color for the last several months. Are Invincibelle supposed to stay a ruby color and then change to green. We have been in a drought for the 2nd summer in a row. Does this effect the color?

    • @pwcolorchoice
      @pwcolorchoice  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is normal for Invincibelle Ruby flowers to turn green as they age. However, absolutely, drought conditions will hasten that transition. The great thing about Invincibelle Ruby, though, is that it will rebloom if it is deadheaded, so you can simply cut off the aged green blooms, and in 6-8 weeks later, new flowers will emerge, provided the plant hasn't experienced significant stress. :)

    I planted a mini mauvette last fall and it slowly seemed to dry up and die but I left it in the ground and it come back beautiful this year. I purchased 3 more this season and same thing happened again. Hoping they rebound like the other one but not sure why this happened. They are planted on east side of my house.

      @@joanotte7097 Okay, great! It is most likely that the plants are still just getting established. It would be a good idea to add a 2-3" layer of mulch to help insulate the roots. After they get more adjusted this year you shouldn't continue to have this problem. :)

    I planted 3 Garnetta’s last fall and they haven’t grown at all. I know most plants sleep, creep, then leap on year 3, so I’m hopeful they well grow some next spring. They were little quart size when I ordered them. I wish local garden centers carried these dwarf cultivars. All I see is paniculata’s everywhere.

    • @pwcolorchoice
      @pwcolorchoice  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, it is most likely the plants are still getting established. If desired, you may apply a granular fertilizer formulated for flowering woody plants in late winter/early spring when the soil is workable, to help encourage some more growth.

    To achieve a hedge effect, what distance on center should limetta be planted? Same question for WEE white…thanks

    • @pwcolorchoice
      @pwcolorchoice  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Limetta grows to be 3-4' wide, so you would want the centers of each plant to be 4' apart from one another. For Wee White, it grows to be 1-2.5' wide so you would want to plant those 2.5-3' apart. We made a video talking about our Incrediball hedge and the same ideas will apply for these two hydrangeas as well. You can check out that video here, th-cam.com/video/Wa3e_VQh5SI/w-d-xo.html

    • @pwcolorchoice
      @pwcolorchoice  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's the way those flowers naturally age, especially if the weather is very hot and/or the plant has maybe experienced some periods of low water during its bloom. You can simply snip them out to neaten the appearance if you'd like.

    Hi There,
    Which pink colored dwarf hydrangeas would be good in the shade? USDA 5b, Midwest area.
    Unfortunately, our backyard area doesn’t get a lot of sun, but we'd love something like this to last all summer thru early fall..
    Per I really love the fullness of the flowers.

    • @pwcolorchoice
      @pwcolorchoice  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello there! Would you say that you get some sun throughout the day? We classify part sun as 4-6 hours of sun a day and all hydrangeas would need at least some sun in order to bloom well. The most shade-tolerant hydrangeas are Oakleaf hydrangeas that you can see here, www.mypwcolorchoices.com/all-plants/?jsf=epro-products:sheight&tax=product_cat:503

    • @pwcolorchoice
      @pwcolorchoice  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello there ☺ Yes, it will! As with the Invincibelle Spirit II, you'll want to give it that 2-3" layer of mulch to help insulate the roots and be sure to give them more supplemental water while they're getting established for the first few weeks 🤗

  • @mariavandinther9266
    @mariavandinther9266 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    How often do you water this kind of flowers.

    • @pwcolorchoice
      @pwcolorchoice  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Watering deeply 2-3 times a week is ideal, if it is consistently hot out, water a bit more. Watering "deeply" can be determined by placing a shallow tin (like a tuna can) next to the base of the shrub when you water and wait until there is at least 1" (2.54cm) of water in it to know you've watered it sufficiently :)

    Last Spring I planted a Mini Mauvette in one of my very small beds. It's the perfect size for the space, but both years the bloom seemed to fizzle out before they got going. The color out of the gate is lovely, as mentioned in the video, but mine only lasted a week before they began to fade. The plant shows no other signs of stress. Any suggestions?

    • @pwcolorchoice
      @pwcolorchoice  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The flowers do naturally fade to a kind of tawny pink - that's unavoidable, but if it seems to be happening very quickly, it could be due to heat stress. You might be able to mitigate it a bit by putting down a good 2-3" layer of shredded bark mulch, which will help keep the roots cool and growing vigorously, as well as providing supplemental water if rainfall is scarce. If you live in a hot climate, this might just be what happens. However, not to worry - it is a rebloomer, and will produce fresh flowers in about six weeks, especially if you deadhead it by removing the old flowers.

    Wondering if I could plant wee white in a container in my zone 6b garden. I have no place to store in the winter so I would have to leave outside, with its container wrapped. What do you think? Would it survive 🤞thanks!

    • @pwcolorchoice
      @pwcolorchoice  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, absolutely! You actually won't want to cover the container over the winter because the plant will still need to get water. You can move it to a more protected area where wind and snow won't damage it.

    I have a mini mauvette and it’s in quite wet soil, the soil does dry out in April but I’m a bit concerned about it. Now the plant is alive and has buds but I’m just a bit worried it might be set back. I’ve heard that this species can tolerate wet the best. What is your advice?

    • @pwcolorchoice
      @pwcolorchoice  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It can definitely take moist soil, but very wet soil for long periods could be an issue. However, wet soils won't set a plant back - they'll typically kill it outright, so the fact that your plant has buds is a good sign. ☺

      Hello there! It sounds like you just planted them this year, so you can expect that the plants will still be getting more established next year. After that, you should start to see more vigorous growth! Because there are so many factors that go into a plant's growth rate, I can't say exactly how big it will be but Invincibelle Ruby has an average growth rate, compared to other slow-growing varieties :)
