    I never knew there where so many different types of orchids before I found your channel!! Yesterday I picked up a Vanda, Dendrobium, Cattleya, and ordered a shary baby! I’m now 6 orchids in and loving every moment I get to be with my orchids! Crossing my fingers that the cattleya will grow some good roots and I’ll get to take her to bloom next year!!

    Great video. Love to see mostly happy endings and even an “oh well”. Your sharing is terrific. I have to tell you. I copied your idea of using clear/translucent food containers as orchid pots. I used a glue gun to make the holes. Worked great!! Best of all they are the perfect size to fit on my bathroom windowsill where my orchids are happy. I had a store bought clear orchid pot that was getting tons of algae in it. I realized it had no side vents. So I took orchid out, put a ton of side holes in the pot and repotted the orchid. It is so much happier. I would have never thought of doing this without your videos. Thank you.

    Thank you! Excellent updates. Would certainly like more of this type (showing updates) for different types of orchids.

    Thanks for the update! I recently purchased a Odcdm. Catatante ‘Sun King’ on discount and it is doing pretty good. I left the spikes that were in bloom and once they withered repotted, made a division (which had a spike that had not yet bloomed- and like you I want my orchids to focus on vegetative growth - so I cut it) and both divisions have new growth but sadly no roots yet. Should I start using fertilizer now or wait for the roots to shoot?

      This is my first oncidium. Also my friend sent me a Nelly Isler ‘Swiss Beauty ‘ - so any advice you can give will be great! It has two spikes which are getting ready to bloom- I have already repotted back New Zealand moss as that is what it came in but hash a bad moldy smell😬 and so far it has not shown signs of any shock - pseudobulbs are still move and plump and the flowers are continuing to “advance”

    Denni I am super intrigued by your Orchid knowledge! Do you allow people to message with questions and for advice? I am new to orchids and had one attacked by a bug and now she does not look well and I really need to know what to to!!!

    Hi!!! I have been losing sleep watching all your videos!!! Thank you so much! I am learning so much. I have had various orchids for quite some time now and suddenly I am having issues with them. I have a zygopetalum no id, but has black dots like the dots on your shady lady on this video. Also freckles like the second orchid on this video. Are the dots natural? diseased? just a little concerned because of discoloration seems to be spreading to other leaves. Thank you, really enjoyed this video.

      @MissOrchidGirl  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Zygopetalums are notorious for developing spots on their leaves. Many growers have many different opinions on what they are. My opinion is that it is related to culture. Too much light, or too high temperatures are my guess, so see if they might be the reason for your orchid as well. Also fresh air and ventilation can help. Once the source is eliminated the new leaves should not develop as many spots, or at all. Good luck!

    Hey Miss! Hope you are doing well on your vacation! I wanted to ask you something for your next Q&A video. I recently noticed some tiny black bugs swimming in my orchid containers. They can be seen in any type of potted orchid (semi hydro, self-watering and regular mixed pots). They are rather tiny and always in movement. Do you know what they are? And if they do any harm to the orchids? Thanks and cheers

    Hi Danny, I hope you had a great vacation! I need some advice. I’ve been watching your videos for a while and you inspired me to take up the orchid hobby. I’ve run into a snag recently with a paphiopedilum mamie Wilson. It was being sold as one that needed “TLC.” Well, I’m into giving TLC to my orchids but this one has me scratching my head. I received it about a month ago and I’ve reported it on bark and moss (repotme), and I can’t get her to perk up. Also, the challenging part for me is that the leaves towards the base of the plant aren’t opening up all the way. They are in fact “open,” but pinched closed in the middle of the leaf it’s as if it’s not open at all. As a result when the leaves flop over towards the base of the plant it’s creating kinks and I’m concerned for the new leaves growing in. I’d love to send pics to give you a better idea of what I’m talking about. Your advice would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Danny

    You have magic hands for sure!!
    I use Leca for my phals without water reservoir, is that ok or is a reservoir a must? I soak/water them once a week and on warmer days I spray water on the top roots once inbetween waterings. I know you use semi hydroponics with water reservoir thats why I ask if it is a must or not.

    Hey really love your videos and they have helped me a lot!! I am fairly new to orchid care and I have noticed some stem rot on one of them, but it's only on one side of the stem. Should I cut it away and use some hydrogen peroxide with some cinnamon powder on the cuts?

    Thanks for update! I would like to ask something regarding orchid care: Are the dark red (?) spots on aliceara tahoma glacier (3:06) traces after spider mites or is this just a pigmentation due to sun? I experience very similar spots on my miltoniopsis, thinking to try your non toxic oily solution ;)

    Do you have care tips for a Milt. Rouge 'Picardie'? I saved this dying orchid from a nursery but have no idea how to care for it

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, it just takes the same care as any other Miltoniopsis. Do a search on my channel for Miltoniopsis and you'll find a few videos. Remember you can always search TH-cam for my videos on whatever subject you are interested in, I have about 2000 videos of orchid information! Just search 'missorchidgirl' and the subject you'd like to find out more about. Example: type in TH-cam search 'missorchidgirl dendrobium nobile care'. Hope it helps! 🧡

    If a Phalaenopsis is producing a new leaf, is it also (always) producing new roots?
