It will shorter your life span for sure. It takes so much form the body. And every pregnancy increases the risk of complications. It is to me, horrifying.
It took 10 months after having my baby to start feeling like myself again. I just found out I'm pregnant again(I was on Depo, going in the first day of my window for shots every time, and we were using condoms) and it's taking so much out of me, and so hard to care for a toddler while feeling like garbage, and I feel like I'm not present enough for them. I couldn't imagine immediately getting knocked up again so soon after giving birth. That would be a perpetual hormonal roller coaster.
I was pregnant and/or nursing for 10 years straight and it. is. awful. And I only have half the children Karissa does. I ended up in therapy afterward because I had been in survival mode for most of it and was putting my own needs on the back burner. I love my kids, but I do not recommend.
The part about her not being able to eat because of the procedure with checking her heart and coping with that by saying she needs to lose 20 lbs because of her most recent baby 😢 oy vey
It's actually a massive red flag for Munchausen by proxy, which is super worrying. Studies have shown that kids who are born prematurely are at higher risk for medical child abuse, and it may be related to mothers trying to cause premature labour. Karissa mentioned that she wanted her firstborn to be premature... And then she was upset that her normal size baby was twice as big as her sister's baby. Well for that to be true the sister's baby had to be premature, and Karissa was definitely just upset because she wanted the attention she anticipated from giving birth early to a tiny premie. I don't think she inflicts injuries/illnesses on her kids, but she sure as shit plays them up for attention while allowing things to get worse and worse with no treatment. I think there's definitely a level of medical child abuse that Karissa has demonstrated, and the fat shaming of the fetus is a totally related impulse.
That screenshot of her oldest's letter is actually heartbreaking. A 13 year old making spelling errors like "momy", "eeys" and "yor" would be getting intensive remedial education _yesterday_ in any other school setting. This level of literacy would be getting remedial education in a 10 year old. This is a level of educational neglect that not even the Rodrigues and Duggar children face. I am devastated for these children.
In grade school, they kept putting my son into the remedial type classes for reading/writing. At 10, and in the 5th grade (last year in our elementary school), it was my mother who asked if the school ever checked for dyslexia. I was like, damn, that's a great point. It's one of those things that anyone can miss something, this is why homeschooling is so ridiculous because when it's just one/two parents who are paying attention, they might never notice...especially if the parents themselves have issues. Anyway, after testing, found out my son has dyslexia (and dyscalculia and dysgraphia). He makes those same mistakes in writing that Karissa does (commas, wall of text, spelling, etc) and some of her children. It takes a lot of help FROM OTHERS who can help me help him and help him during school. Homeschooling would have killed us both🤣
@@SuperAH1985though I do have trouble remembering how to do spelling from time to time due to a learning disability called Nonverbal Learning Disability, I don't have Dyslexia. I can talk exceptionally well, read exceptionally well, write exceptionally well, remember stuff about biology exceptionally well, and so forth.
@@SuperAH1985I agree that homeschooling needs to be done by parents who can fully commit and ensure EACH child gets the support they need or else it won’t work. I cyber charter schooled my kids (before Covid) until 3rd grade because of the district we were in and even then I had to give them my full attention and support for it to be successful. They had teachers who taught the curriculum all day long so I didn’t have to teach anything just be present to ensure they understood the lesson and assignments. I can’t imagine if I came up with all the lesson plans how rough they’d be. My daughter is now in 7th grade and is the school Vice president, straight A’s, Honor’s band for trumpet, plays div 1 basketball and soccer my son in 5th is honor roll and a football and basketball player . There’s no way I could commit to all of that plus do their schooling let alone while having many other kids and a husband to wife for. This is quite sad! The children didn’t ask for that! Homeschooling CAN be successful but with the right children and parenting. We moved and my kids went right into public school and loved it. Unless they’re involved in sports etc. while homeschooling I also worry about homeschool kids and their socialization skills.
I was homeschooled. I’m now a lawyer, my brothers are both just as successful. But a lot of the people that I grew up with do not possess a basic education. It depends SO MUCH on how your parents educate you, there is soooo much room for error. It needs to be heavily regulated and in my state it was essentially unregulated.
@@Victoria-jd1dxI’m glad you and your sibling got a decent education. It saddens me that there are so many people out there that are functionally illiterate because their parents thought they knew better
She only started saying this once her oldest daughter was old enough to take the reins when she dies on the pronatalist hill. Ya know, like 9 years old.
So, she says she WOULDN'T die for an unborn baby. Her momentarily hypothetical bun in the oven. Unravel that a little further & she's saying if that baby puts her life at risk during pregnancy, she will save her own life. Therefore, terminating the pregnancy. She talked herself in circles and ended up pro-choice LOL did anyone tell her??
They were having their kid ask them questions they should be discussing in therapy 😭 and then arguing and bickering right in front of him. They seem so miserable
It blows my mind that these people are giving advice about something they know nothing about. It's like teaching a course on Calculus when you made a C- in high school algebra and you're actively struggling through the morning class of the same Calculus you're trying to teach.
It’s honestly sad. Sex should be a pleasurable, fun, romantic part of relationships and they are so under taught in it that it becomes something of duty or so taboo rather than what it should be. I feel bad for the women. Not Karissa or Bethany at all lol but for other women and even men who are just going thru the motions of a very natural and supposed to be fun part of life for both parties.
I'm sorry but the part about the baby's food drying and ROTTING on the newborn's skin because Karissa wasn't even rag washing her baby has me so fucking appalled.
@@universal_stupidity yes, she probably expected one of her older children to do everything for her. Her thing is pregnancy and giving birth, but not caring for the actual born child.
She wanted a premature baby because they're "tiny and cute" compared to a "fat" baby. All but confirmed by her being thrilled by the small size of her first baby.
There is also her own body image issues, like she mentioned most of the weight gain of pregnancy happens in the last trimester, if she cuts that short she could avoid some of that (though if she cared so much why did she even have a baby) which is actually a common sentiment in eating disordered women.
Haha, I looked like ET, I was tiny but not cute. I didn't fit into my skin properly. She'd've hated me. Also glad she doesn't care about us young AF preemies having health problems if not disabilities. Does she think they're cute too?
HER WHOLE FAMILY, LIKE OTHER ADULTS, SAW her child struggling to lift their limbs & saw their eyes rolling back & they just all went to lunch?? That is insane.
This tells me that this is where Karissa gets her negligent tendencies toward anyone under her care from. Like, this seems like a pattern of behavior for her family.
And she just casually mentions she let's her dog EAT FERTILIZER and also left it for 2 weeks with one bowl of rotten food and never cleaned it when they came back and put new food on top so it was likely ingested. So now you can only be more terrified for her kids. We already know one of the youngest girls has had SEVERAL UTIs likely due to Karissa "being too lazy" to change her diaper, and then tries to pray it away until the poor girl has a kidney infection and almost gets sepsis. That's just the tip of the iceberg because she's revealed it, and it's terrifying.
It’s so weird because I didn’t notice it until someone pointed it out. And I’ve been living in Europe off and on for a decade. Honestly I don’t mind. Once I was completely drunk (my friend gave me something far too strong) and sitting on the bathroom floor in a bar. Someone saw me from under the stall and asked if I was ok and needed anything. I also have a history of passing out. So having someone be able to check on me - or an elderly person or a child - while I’m behind a locked door is very much a safety thing that I appreciate and now I’m kind of scared of European bathroom stalls. Lol
people say it’s for safety, but it’s actually anti-homeless architecture. the gaps at the bottom let security guards and cops walk through and make sure no homeless people are sleeping in the bathrooms. it’s so heartbreaking his horrible our country is to homeless people. edit: because let’s actually think about it- there is no safety that comes from having giant holes under the stall doors and gaps between the door and the wall it’s hinged to. it’s the opposite of safe, if anything.
@@kirbysthiccthighs Well, there's still this benefit, which does save lives, so I think it's worth it. And as I said, for people like me, or children, or elderly, or so many other people... that access can be really critical. "Having gaps and open spaces in a toilet stall allow for quick access if someone happens to collapse in the restroom. There are over 40,000 toilet-related injuries in the U.S. each year according to Wiki Answers. With all the hard surfaces in a toilet stall, it makes sense to be able to see if someone gets hurt." But let's be real. The actual reason is cost. It's cheaper to make them this way. It's also easier for them to clean the floors this way, and helps with air circulation.
@@kirbysthiccthighs I don’t feel like the gaps underneath or a problem because I can totally see you needing to know who is in there for safety reasons. My issue is with the gap between the door and the stall wall.
So she was 9 months pregnant, they'd just bought a new house, her husband lost his job, he told her not to look too closely at the finances for a while, somehow some money came in from somewhere ... and she says it must have been God putting it there? Two guards stand by a gate. One of them gets an arrow through the head and collapses. The other looks at him and says: "Huh. Must have been the wind."
My revolver: *{BANG!}* Soldier 1: "Argh! Medic!" Soldier 2: "No sign hostiles here, Sir. Over." That was _Half-Life._ Guy I'd shot just stood there with his arm bleeding. Neither of them looked around.
What do you think he did to get the money? That was weird to me too, I was waiting for her to describe an opportunity god gave them or the family members god moved to give them money or something but it never came
I nearly had a panic attack hearing that. How in the flying fuck can these people be so irresponsible?! It’s also pretty traumatizing as a kid being told hi we’re about to be homeless but don’t worry mommy just quit her job 😭
I feel like this is such a trend with large families, too. I know a family with six kids and the older ones constantly look miserable bc they’re babysitting the younger ones
i was the oldest of 4 and went thru this bc my ma was too concerned w her dating life to raise us. which is why all 4 of us have different dads. 🙄🤦🏼♀️
@@Kaylinnf56 Yeah, it is. I have four older siblings. I know my half sister (oldest of us) moved back to her mother's house mostly because of my mom way too often made my sister take care of all of us. Bad, mom! (She was great in other ways, though.) At 15, I wouldn't want to take care of four younger siblings, with the youngest being 3.
I was also a parentified child, but I only have 1 younger brother. When I was a kid, my dad & relatives as well told me that it was "only right" that I look after him with the reasoning that I was a girl :/
I'm the oldest of nine and I was absolutely the third parent (even now when my youngest sibling is sixteen). My siblings have kids of their own now that I help take care of. If you have 5+ children it's pretty difficult to avoid parentify-ing the oldest.
It's really sad to me to watch her 13 year old struggle to read a children's book aloud....she does not care about their children, or their future...she is setting them up to struggle for the rest of their lives, if they don't die from direct neglect first.
The absolute best thing my mom did for me was teach me to read before I was 3. One of my best memories was reading The Secret Garden with her every night and speculating about where the key was etc. It gave me a huge head start in school, I didn’t struggle with spelling and essays as much as some kids in school and it gave me a lifelong hobby. I’m so grateful that my parents and grandparents took reading seriously because it doesn’t seem like just leaving it all up to school is enough sometimes. Yet, these kids aren’t even getting that. It’s so sad to see.
I do not want to sound crass, but she knows the life she is setting her up for. I grew up right on the fringe of stuff like this, the girls are only seen as useful for cleaning and “being fruitful and multiplying.” As long as she can clean, cook, and be subservient to her husband, all is considered good. I met a girl when I was in college who was taking a class with me from the fringe side of my religion. She didn’t know that carbon was an element.
That child needs special education services. I'm shocked no one has called the authorities on them to get them the services that they might legally be qualified for.
I knew someone who grew up with seven siblings and I thought she made a good point once: a parent can have an unlimited amount of love for all their children, but everyone has a limited amount of time. Even when money is not an issue, at a certain point there’s just not enough time in the day to build quality relationships with tons of kids
She doesn’t gaf about these kids, she only cares about using them as her little money makers. I never once see a video of her showing love or affection to her kids just shoving the camera in their face and telling them to impress us!!
When you have more kids than days of the week or even days off... *_You probably have too many kids._* I think 6 is the MAXIMUM the average person could POSSIBLY have time for. And I mean that past that point you're looking at neglect because they literally can't pay enough individual attention to each kid.
To be fair, I know plenty of people who were the only child or had 1-2 siblings and still did not receive proper attention. There are bad and good parents out there. I don’t like focusing on the amount of children someone has. What matters is that there is love in the home, a healthy routine and special time put aside for family togetherness.
@@BeautifulVojonyerThey never said they were child-free 😭💀 And they're definitely not threatened by the fact that she has kids, they're joking because parents who give their kids matching names tend to be... Weird to put it up for interpretation. Also, are you here just to hate? If so, you're just adding to her engagement, buddy.
There is a 40% drop in risk of suicide when there is at least one supportive adult in an LGBTQIA2S+ person’s life. I decided to volunteer for a crisis line because, while reading the Bible, I decided to love my neighbor better. And then I read that metric and couldn’t stop thinking about being a supportive adult for someone, even if I never meet them in person. That’s the stuff I got from the Bible, not homophobia.
Good for you for interpreting it that way, but that's not common. I hope you meet people where they are and leave out religion if it's not pertinent for them. There's something very horrible about coming from a background of religious trauma, calling a help line, and being told "god loves you".
@@thenopedetective part of my training was in making sure to let people bring up god if they need to and talk them through their feelings on faith of any kind without imposing my own. My approach to “god loves you” is that when people ask if god can love them where they are, I ask them what they feel about the subject if they want to explore that. But just like I never give my real name (we use gender-neutral names so they meet me as Jo or Max or Morgan), I never tell them my religious background.
Also, she said she wouldn't die for her kids who were yet to be born, but she's staunchly pro-life...? It was such a weird clarification for her to make
As a muslim myself, her 'our body isnt ours' approach is very misleading, because if you believe that our bodies is a gift from god you would treat it with the outmost care and not harm it with the unnecessary childbearing struggles, she carries very harmful ideas.
58:05 - a small edit from me: Karissa and her *husband* being neglectful. Please don't forget to mention second parent too, it's his child too after all.
Karissa is mentally ill and is surrounded by people who only reinforce her delusions. It's sad. But I feel much sadder for her kids, and I hope at least a couple of them are able to break free.
@@kimberlyaustin7030 Oh I'm sure! She's had a couple miscarriages and has given birth 10 times; that shit messes with you. Thought I still maintain that she couldn't have been stable to begin with to want to just keep having kids no matter what.
The dog story has baffled me. My dog has canned wet food, 1/4 per meal. Once the can is opened, it has a lid to seal it, and is put in the fridge. We wash her bowl with hot water & dish soap after EVERY meal. Her water bowl is refilled at least twice a day and is rinsed out EACH TIME. It is so fucking simple
Not to mention, I’ve never smelled rotten dog food cause I love my dogs and would never. However, you can’t tell me that wouldn’t be pungent af. They saw and smelled that rotten food and were too sorry to clean it. Just absolutely evil imo
Bunny "parent" here, and yes I can't imagine doing anything other than fresh food (veg in their case) daily, with some dry food that's as fresh as possible. WTF?! This whole vid is horrifying so far, but it's hacked up having even a single child, when that neglectful of a a pet one supposedly loves!
Just a note about the abuse to the chihuahua: Our old neighbors used to torture and kill cats and abuse their dogs and we called animal control multiple times. They said they had to witness it. But when they would drive by in the animal control truck the neighbors were smart enough to hide their actions. My mother in law was the one that witnessed most abuse and sadly we gave up reporting them because no one would do anything about it. It's honestly kind of like child abuse, it's harder than it seems to get people in trouble for it.
Was getting it on camera not an option at the time? Not being snarky, btw, I know in some places it wouldn't be admissible as evidence if they didn't know they were being recorded
@@damien678 We did not have a camera at the time. We do not have a lot of money so cell phones are the free government type. Like we also had a man behind us that bred fighting dogs and it was horrible, But we didn't even try to report him for fear that he would poison our dogs or something. It's not always that simple.
@@amyblack3164 Fair enough. And, I'm sorry you had to go through that. It'd have eaten away at me to fitness without being able to do anything (without the reasonable expectation of retaliation)
We had the same issue with our neighbor, but it was even worse because we lived so far up on a mountain animal control didn’t even care enough to go out that far. Our neighbors would leave their dog outside in a cage for days on end whether it was raining or blistering hot. It was disgusting the conditions they’d leave him in, but there was nothing we could do for him.
karissa also has accused her children of sinning, saying their sin causes their illnesses and they simply need to repent. she frequently has "scream prayer" sessions (which, if you have never been in one, they're straight from a horror film and very literal) over/with them, and the infants share a room with the older girls as the girls are fully expected to care for, school, & raise their baby siblings. i believe the skin bleaching rumors come from the fact that karissa will whiten her children's appearance in photos despite them all being noticeably tan and having non-white features in videos that are posted around the same time of the photos. she has serious delusions and intends to cause harm to others. i worry for her children.
the children are very neglected. for example Karissa will let her baby sit in dirty diapers all day…you can tell she doesnt change her youngests diapers in her reels on instagram.
@@pearlboyscasetteI suspected as much with the UTIS. It could also be she's putting that responsibility on her daughters but doesn't actually pay attention.
She's part of the Quiverfull movement. They use a specific type of guidebook which encourages physical abuse with babies. It starts with blanket training. They put a baby on a blanket and place a toy near the blanket, if the baby reaches for that toy, they get slapped or hit. It's so disturbing.
karissa's story about almost killing her dog had my jaw on the literal floor. when she revealed this was WET FOOD and not even kibble being left out for more than 2 days... that is insane behavior. i have cats and i dont even let their dry food sit out for more than a day. my stock of kibble is stored in an airtight container and wet food is in airtight containers in the fridge if i have leftovers. and the way she was watching her dog suffer and die like "i wish i could do something" and then telling the story like this isn't INSANE, PSYCHOPATHIC BEHAVIOR is beyond comprehension. you can tell exactly what kind of person someone is by how they treat animals, especially their pets.
Idk if this is a common fundie belief, but I grew up fundie and there was an assistant pastor who left/fired because he insisted animals went to heaven. Many fundies believe that only humans have souls, so you can imagine for us animals were taught to be sort of like plants are for normal people.
@@SmolTrailer i understand that. and i understand and respect that not everyone holds animals in such importance in their life like i do. i was raised in the catholic church so i am not unfamiliar with these sentiments. i have worked directly with animals for years and have a very special connection with them that i dont expect everyone to understand. but, i do think that there is a difference between being not so much of an animal person and also being outright cruel. i have seen and cared for animals in the kind of distress that karissa described seeing her dog experience. it is horrifying to witness both as an animal lover and as an animal myself. suffering in that way is not unique to pets or non-human animals. our basic biology recognizes that kind of suffering and it does not make sense to me to not take some sort of action very quickly in that circumstance if one has a heart at all, especially with a personal pet. i strongly believe, and i think Rachel has talked about this as well, that when you adopt or purchase an animal as a pet, you are signing on to the care of that animal in almost any circumstance. it is not fair to, in full knowledge, take on the responsibility of a helpless creature and then turn your back on it deliberately. some people may not be as careful with food preparation for their pets as i described in my first comment, but it is wholly inexcusable to allow rotting food to be in a pet's bowl for any length of time. that is neglect. i understand growing up and being conditioned to view all non-human animals as beneath humans, that is a very common world-view. what i don't understand is staring into the eyes of suffering and doing nothing. (i dont mean this to be aggressive at all, i am just very passionate about this subject and have a hard time toning it down!
Right? Whenever one of our cats start acting even little bit out of character, I watch them like a hawk to see if something's wrong. Even though I know cats are cats and they change their patterns, where they sleep etc, so very likely nothing is wrong. One of our cats is prone to eye issues (we might have to take him to specialist to see if there's any deeper reason), one of his eyes was irritated on Monday and he seemed to be hiding from me and from light, I took him to the vet immediately, because he had conjunctivitis twice in a year and I was worried another was starting. I was worried for nothing, but I acted immediately. I can't imagine coming home to a lethargic animal that can't breath well, I'd be booking it there in seconds. Doesn't matter if it's after hours and I'd have to pay emergency fee, don't care, just help them. It's like she couldn't comprehend the gravity of the situation.
@@PetraP01 i’m the exact same way with my cats. i am struggling financially and i still made it work to get extensive blood tests done recently on two of my cats because they started acting differently with each other and i wanted to rule out health problems for one or the other or both. this was just because they started being meaner to each other when they have gotten along perfectly for 3 years. nothing was immediately wrong thankfully, but the kidney levels for my 3yr old were slightly elevated and so i immediately bought a 3rd, different type of water fountain because he prefers drinking from a spout rather than a bubbler (which is what the other two fountains are). in a more severe circumstance, i worked at a big cat sanctuary for 3 years. all of the cats were rescues from horrible situations and so they had some pretty bad health problems from years of neglect and/or abuse. the way i dropped everything and called over the vet for any indication of a problem… ESPECIALLY if they were lethargic or wheezing or anything like that. those are extremely serious symptoms. the panic i felt every time that happened and the vigilance i have for my own cats’ health and behavior… i just don’t understand doing nothing in that situation. i am fairly knowledgeable and capable when it comes to veterinary care and yet i would never try to “solve” something like karissa described on my own at home. to me it’s like watching a stranger choke in public and walking away without doing anything. and on top of that, the fact that she let her dog get into poison in the form of fertilizer MULTIPLE times? i dont even have houseplants in my home without extensive research to make sure theyre not toxic to my cats. i’m flabbergasted. i hope your kitty gets some relief from his eye problems! 🫶🏻 lots of love

Before I found out my cat had WFIP, I drove 4 hours each way to the only vet able to help me when I called at 1AM. Then I went on a 3 hour trip to get medicine for her. I call my rescue pigeons bastards and say things to them that if the neighbours heard they may think im verbally abusing a kid. Well she can't force the dog to pray and marry them off into a life of servitude and cranking out more god bothering babies so I guess the dog doesn't rate in her eyes like the kids do
they’re anti-vaccine christian scientists who dont treat their childrens illnesses so im shocked all 10 of her children are alive, including the 14 year old. multiple of her children have serious illnesses as well.
I remember the Reddit post about how she lightens her children’s skin in photos. When I tell you my jaw DROPPED when I saw the unedited photos versus her edited ones. It is SO frustrating that that information isn’t accessible any more 😢
Her first video is ironically a good analogy for the pro-choice point of view. Yes, as a mother, it is admirable she would die for her kids. But do we want to live in a society that would push a mom in front of a car if her kid is in danger?
YES‼️‼️ The life of the child does NOT outweigh the life of the mother, they are equally as important and both should be saved in life-or-death situations if possible. Motherhood shouldn't be defined by the sacrifices you've made or are willing to make, it should be about you raising your children! "I've given up so much for my kids" just paints kids as greedy leeches
@yeetymcneety I agree. It’s really upsetting when I see parents say they’ve “given everything up for their kids.” It’s sad. It’s important to put yourself first as a parent otherwise you’ll be run ragged. I mean there are always times where there are safety issues & most parents would risk themselves to help their child, but to set your goals/identity to the side for kids is a bridge too far for me. I always make sure my mental/physical health is taken care of, getting enough sleep when possible, time for hobbies/fun things. Being a mom doesn’t mean your whole individual identity is moot. It’s sad to see people perpetuating the “you’re a mom and nothing else” type mentality.
I was listening to that and thinking that she has 10 living children to think about, would she risk her life and their mother/teacher/life as they know it for an unborn child if she were told it would kill her to continue with the pregnancy? (She probably would tbh) Most women who get abortions already have living children, they terminate the pregnancy for their living children sometimes so that their living children can live better lives. Hell, the roe v wade case was started for a woman who already had a full house and couldn’t afford another. All she’s telling those kids is that she would remove herself from their lives for someone who isn’t even born yet.
Also, as a former Christian - her entire vibe (and all the flip-flopping and story changing) really feels like she's reframing herself as a martyr. Not necessarily intentionally, mind you. Early posts: "Always wanted kids, even more than my husband." Recent posts: "I gave up all my hopes and dreams in order to follow God and have infinite children because of how good a Christian I am :D" "I did a *natural* birthing, even though people have created things that alleviate the dangers." "I continue to have children against the recommendation of all my doctors. Look how much I sacrifice for my children and my god. :'D"
I'm getting a lot of "look how many souls I'm saving" vibes alongside that. First with how she met her husband and also with her arguing that all those unborn souls that are getting aborted just want to live. So it feels like she's having all these children so they can be souls to go to heaven and she's sacrificing herself for it
ACCURATE. Recovering evangelical myself. Oh, geez, the martyr complex is STRONG in Christianity. It seemed especially potent amongst women…so many of the moms in my church when I was young were obviously miserable, yet constantly humble-bragging about all the hardships “God” was putting on them to “grow” their faith. Now, I can’t help but picture God (looking a lot like Jeff Bridges, tbh) just facepalming, nearly in tears while whimpering, “NOoooOO! That wasn’t meeeee! Make it staaaahp!!”
My husband and I were always told that the first year of marriage is the hardest. We honestly thought we were doing something wrong because marriage felt so natural. It’s been 4 years and we still have friends who are shocked when I say we don’t really fight. It’s not always perfect, but the good far outweighs the bad and I’d NEVER describe my marriage as a “fight.”
The one situation in which I think "The first year of marriage is the hardest" can happen with a couple that do love each other and are otherwise happy is when the culture is a very sex-negative religious one. People end up with a lot of hang-ups from the whole "sex is dirty and awful and you should save it for the person you get married to" thing that can make the first year of marriage a struggle for everyone even if the couple do otherwise love each other. But yeah, this "being miserable in a marriage is normal" thing is... just very not my experience either. Like, yeah, we disagree about stuff sometimes, but I never feel like my relationship is "hard work."
Same, almost exactly. We are nearing 4 years, and even our disagreements are relatively chill. Like we take a moment if needed, then discuss our feelings and thought processes. We never intentionally hurt each other, so there’s mutual trust in these conversations. The only “fight” part of marriage is us facing challenges head on.
11 years in and I love my partner. We have fun together! Sure, we've encountered obstacles & been through difficult times but it's only served as a way to strengthen our relationship. Marriage shouldn't be hard.
it’s people like the duggars and karissa collins that really make me wonder if their reason for having so many kids (having, not taking care of) is not loving kids but loving being pregnant. her words and the way she talks about how bad she wants to be pregnant really does just make it all sound like a pregnancy kink :/
I grew up around lots of quiverful families. Some of the moms had horrible pregnancies and kept on having kids anyway - they considered it their duty. I know some who did love being pregnant, but it’s entirely about raising as many people as possible who believe like they do. It’s driven by a belief that they can out populate the world of heathens with Christians. One of my friends was the second oldest in a family of 10. By the time she and I were both 32, I had one child and she had 7. She stopped at 8, but I wondered how many she’d end up having. I always felt so horrible for women who had fertility issues because there was always an underlying sense of failure when they talked about it. I’m just grateful my family wasn’t quiverful and I moved away-physically and mentally-from the evangelical mindset.
"Quiverfull" refers to a biblical passage about a "quiverfull of arrows"; in other words, the kids in these families are essentially intended to be foot soldiers in their Gilead Christofascist theocratic fantasyland. It's about spawning a massive army of indoctrinated Christian fundamentalists to take over the USA, and then probably the fuckin world or something...it's not like the kids as individuals are important to this deranged goal...
As someone with a pregnancy fetish... I feel its less fetishization of pregnancy and more fetishiaztion of how you are treated as a pregnant person. Some people really enjoy how people react when you tell them youre pregnant, the extra attention and care you get as a pregnant person can be exhilerating, etc
Sorry to say this, but Karissa is so uneducated. Most likely a product of her environment. The fact that she does not know that food left outside rots, the fact that she ignores so many medical emergencies, the poor care of her baby (and to be pendantic, her poor writing skills)... I can only imagine what those kids are being taught at home and what skills they'll emerge with as adults. I'm so disturbed and sorry for her kids.
Pretty funny how the people who are most vocal about how important it is to have kids are often the least qualified to be having them in the first place
I'm so glad the moments with Kyra aren't cut out. They're such a breath of fresh air in between all the horrible blog posts. That doggo is the sweetest
I remember hating washing my first cat bowl as it was “gross” and surely the cat wouldn’t notice - my mum asked how I’d feel if I was given a plate with mouldy food and fresh food I then would always clean the bowl I was 10 TEN AND I QUICKLY LEARNED WHY CLEAN BOWLS ARE SO VERY IMPORTANT
At 1:02:34, she’s able to say she’s never hit her children because fundies don’t believe that spanking is hitting. It’s wrong, but that’s how they justify it. So for her, it’s not an inconsistency.
Yep. The Pearls have said "we'd never hit a child!" publicly as a response but their book openly advocates physical punishment. They just call it behavior correction. It's disgusting.
Mandrae had a Train up a Child shirt on on a recent Insta post. That is the manual written by Bill Gothard for child abuse. They encourage spanking & corporal punishment as well as blanket training
I feel like Karissa is intellectually disabled. She honestly seemed to think that giving her dog treats and talking her for a walk, when she had trouble walking, was a good idea.
as someone who works with those with cognitive disabilities, the lack of intonation in her voice also gives me that feeling. so sad because those who lack or have lessened critical thinking skills, are so easy to be indoctrinated, which i think is what happened to karissa.
I see a lot of signs of autism. Sad to think that if they weren’t so anti science and didn’t believe that autism is some disease that needs curing, Karissa might get a better understanding of herself and be less insufferable.
Wanting a premature child isn't normal, but wanting to not be pregnant any more definitely is normal. I remember when I was about 8 months pregnant, telling my husband to just cut me open and get the baby out. I wasn't serious about it. I was just an expression of how tired I was of being pregnant and how sick I was the strain pregnancy was putting on my body. So I wonder if she really meant she wanted to have a premature child, or if she was just expressing a frustration with how awful pregnancy is and how much she wanted it to be over.
It’s insane that she openly shares so much information. Terrible parents usually keep quiet about how terrible they are, she freely shares it with the world. Makes me question her mental stability.
I find people do tell on themselves. Quite often. The problem is no one seems to hear it or it's shrugged off as a "joke". Sometimes it's so unbelievable we ignore it because 'they couldn't be serious'. All that said, even the ones who tell on themselves, keep the worst things private. Abusers tell on themselves because it inherently normalizes the abuse. Especially if you're a child, you don't understand that everyone around you thinks your abuser is joking. You just think the abuse you're enduring is so normal people can laugh at it. Everyone already knows what's happening to you so what's the point in telling someone?
Clout is like a drug to peoples minds- she does anything for clout and attention so ofc she has no problem admitting her horrible parenting in order for more people to talk about her.
I wonder if her “visions” and the times that “God talked to her” were simply hallucinations from the fasting and sleep deprivation, especially during pregnancy. I went to a Christian university and basically every chapel speaker talked about the time that “God talked to them” and even then I wondered how many of the chaplains had simply hallucinated and how many were lying. It’s also unsurprising that a person who has no grasp of grammar or syntax can’t teach how kids how to write.
i've read that poor kid's name "aynjel" a couple times before, but i still have such a visceral reaction to it... i mean most of the other names are also awful but that one in particular is a straight up war crime
It's so displeasing to look at, let alone say 😅 not every name needs to be spelt all quirky and this is one of them, she should have just left it 'Angel' 🤦🏼♀️
they wil have to spell their names for the rest of their lives and people will still mess it up. It's annoying and bothersome, I have a similar problem with my last name but at least my mum didn't choose it.
I’m literaly only 38 seconds in and I’m losing it over some of the kids’ names. Armor, Annistan, Anjalie, Andersyn, Aynjel, Ansyr (which took me forever to realize they’de supposed to be pronounced “Angel” and “Answer”) and Anchor, are you kidding me?? 😭😭 white fundies are truly out here giving their kids keyboard smashes for names
I so hope the kids turn out alright in the end. With how things are looking they're probably already severely traumatised (filming a birth, wtf). I am hoping they can get the help they need before it is too late
May God save them from the sin of homosexuality (if, that even happens). He did it to me! Everyone gets lost, whether it’s by being homosexual or whatever else but no matter what there is always a cure and that’s Jesus!😊
As someone who has an eating disorder and just went through a treatment program, I think there is a huge difference between having an illness and advocating for things that can make others sick. For example, someone struggling with alcoholism talking about their previous behaviors and mindsets is totally fine. Someone struggling with alcoholism that isn't seeking treatment but knows they have a problem and don't encourage others to also engage in excessive drinking is also okay. Struggling with alcoholism and being in denial about it while publically demonstrating their alcoholism is also okay. The problem is when someone with alcoholism is spreading misinformation or encouraging maladaptive behavior to their large audiences. For example, telling your audience that consuming large amounts of alcohol daily is actually healthy or daring your audience to engage in risky behaviors like drinking a handle of whiskey in one sitting, that isn't okay. For ED, I think spreading misinformation about nutrition while pretending to be an expert is like advocating for your audience to drink excessively. It's pretty common to see people on Instagram promote dangerous restrictive diets and perpetuating myths about food. EDs kill and content like that is actively harmful. Discussion of influencer "dietitians" who promote ideas like that was a common discussion point for people in my ED program. They frequently would relapse into restrictive or purging behavior as a result of being triggered by harmful diet culture content. We can hold love, compassion and empathy while also taking measures to protect others, especially young people and people also struggling.
This is a really good way to draw a line. Some of these channels can be quite dangerous, and they lie and pretend everything is okay and that everyone else should copy them.
Yeah, Eugenia Cooney took a lot of shit when she didn't encourage anyone to have anorexia (and in her case, she has an extremely severe type of anorexia). People are angry she doesn't seek help when she actually did, but her illness is extremely difficult to treat and months of work can be ruined by a little sentence. Now, she's harassed just because... she suffers from anorexia.
I can't speak for everyone who struggles with ED, but Eugiena Cooney actually did come up in a group discussion. The other people with EDs didn't find her triggering actually at all. They found her obvious struggle and appearance actually eye-opening to them that they have a problem because it was easier to see in someone else than in themselves. I agree. Obviously, they don't represent everyone with anorexia, but I will say with confidence that influencers that promote toxic diet culture and misinformation are FAR more damaging. @@BasilissaKleo
This exactly! Mental illnesses in and of themselves should not be condemned or punished, but promoting habits and behaviors that could put other people at risk, regardless of what kind of a place such ideologies are coming from, should definitely at the very least be called out.
Exactly. I don't know if you're familiar with the late mlmer Jessie Lee Ward, but she's a good example. She choose not go through kemo with her cancer and instead used every pseudoscience under the sun which resulted in her death. But that is not why she was harmful, what was harmful was her advocating other people to do the same
At the end of the "I would die for you" video the kid saying "I'd die for you too" sounds unscripted and even Karissa seems a bit confused by it. It also makes it even more obvious, that the kids have no understanding of the whole context. They should never be used as props in her pushing this agenda. I feel so sorry for all of those kids.
What I love about Rachel and her videos, is that she has so much nuance, care, and grace in every video while still being very critical of the person. I loved what she said in the beginning about not wanting to be mean. I think this grace and kindness is what a lot of the commentary community lacks.
Hot take: it doesn’t matter what someone’s mental health looks like or how much sympathy you feel for them when deciding whether they should be de-platformed, what matters is the inherent harm in what they are posting and the people that their messaging stands to harm. You don’t have to be able to judge whether they’re a good or bad person, or whether their mental illness is the source of their behavior, all you need to be able to judge is whether their content harms others. if it is harmful, it should be removed. I don’t care what someone’s mental or moral condition is if they’re promoting marital abuse/rape. I don’t care if they’re a good or bad person if they’re telling impressionable young (or old) people to physically harm themselves, or disregard their financial situation and have as many kids as they can anyway, or that forcing themselves on others or having someone force themself on you is ok. I don’t care who they are on the inside, what matters is their behavior and the fact that it is damaging to the people who read it.
I agree. Karissa is clearly a very VERY harmful person to her children, animals and the people around her. One can empathize with her mental illness all they want but that doesn't take away their severe abusive and neglectful behavior. Karissa is a prime example of the people we should watch out for in this world.
Fully agree. This is a reason I’m highly concerned about Eugenia’s platform. Her mere physical appearance is encouraging to those prone to anorexia-one of the deadliest eating disorders ever. To top it off, there’s a case to be made that TH-cam made Eugenia’s condition worse. It’s a relief she has recently taken a break, but I’m really concerned that multiple social media companies don’t even so much as blur her photos for sensitive content. Especially stuff like her skeletal Hawaiian photo shoot on Instagram a few months back.
I agree. I actually sincerely believe she is low IQ. I would be surprised if her IQ tested above about 80. I have literally never even known a CHILD in my life that would be unintelligent enough to let wet dog food sit out for 2 weeks and then dump more on top once it's rotted. I have never in my life met a grown adult who wouldn't understand that a child losing control of all their muscles and not being able to hold their head up is an INSTANT trip to the emergency room. I mean come on. This is beyond mental illness. This woman is clearly mentally delayed. She seems to genuinely not understand the most basic things.
Blaming mental health for bad parenting is like blaming mental health for mass shootings: you're ignoring that they are choosing to be a bad person. Even on my worst mental health day I would clean milk off a baby.
@@sannh And in my worst mental health year I wouldn’t. I couldn’t even take care of myself, not to even mention people around me. At a certain point you can be too sick to care for your kids. Acting like that’s impossible and you should just try harder is how people end up neglecting their kids because they’re so ashamed of not being able to do it themselves.
The footage of Karissa and Mandrae is PAINFUL to watch. They clearly hate each other. Why does she think people want to watch them argue and act immaturely? So cringey. As always, your videos are so well done Rachel, thank you!
Watching that makes me think that Karissa has SEVERE PPD or just regular depression. The flat affect is very very noticeable and exactly how depression exhibits in a lot of people. Mandrae is at least trying to seem engaged and she is deadpan, despite being the one who organized this on her socials. I wish she would get treatment, honestly.
Rachel - amazing video as always. just want to point out that UTIs in children is a red flag for CSA. this is not always the case obviously but it is seen as suspicious. i sincerely hope these kids are safe in every possible way.
Yes. We learned about this in my peds class last semester in med school. We learned about how to identify cases of CSA, it was a heavy and horrible class, especially when we had to learn how to see if a little girls himen had been damaged. And we talked about UTIs being a red flag.
I homeschool my two kids and will homeschool my baby as well when he’s older and it’s a struggle!!! I couldn’t imagine more😭😭😭 it’s hard enough with three. When I was pregnant with my third I struggled a lot!! And my kids have pretty good age gaps (4 years about between each) I decided not to go for a fourth for a while because idk if I’ll be able to give my kids the birthdays and Christmas etc that I love to give to them… and the time!!! I love big families but this woman is clearly struggling and it’s so sad for the kids :/
her daughter was SLUMPED in front of karissa, no control over her muscles, unable to lift her head, and she thinks, "let's all get lunch! :)" jfc what a parallel to taking the obviously dying dog on a walk to see if that will "help it" feel better. her head is empty. also lmfao i absolutely do not believe any doctors told her they "thought her daughter had TB" when she is clearly going into septic shock....
that part absolutely astounded me. especially the part where she claimed it was just a "small fever" before it "all of a sudden" turned into septic shock. i'm currently recovering from a uti and man. the fever is absolutely Not small. my fever reached almost 40 degrees and i was shivering with chills the entire time. how on earth could she not notice the severity of those symptoms in her child? the downplaying is quite honestly insane.
@@ten1982 I have frequent UTIs from kidney issues, and have gone septic a few times. Gotta say, even a regular UTI you're right. The fever kicks your ass. And there's no 'oops, sudden sepsis!", you have to have been brewing an infection for a while. I go fast because of my weak immune system, but even when I was little enough to not gave control my parents knew 'pee changes + fever = doctor NOW' and I was a baby before google existed.
Growing up in a super conservative Christian home, I genuinely started to believe I wanted to have a big family. My partner and I decided we were going to start with two and go from there. We ended up only having one and I haven’t regretted the change in plans for one second because we’ve been able to do so much more for our child than we ever could have if we’d had more. I love that Rachel mentioned this mindset. I love our little family and I wouldn’t change a thing.
The absolute medical neglect that fundies display is staggering to me. It's not just anti-vaccine stuff. It's straight up neglect. Ruby Franke is by far the most recent worst example of this, but Karissa doesn't seem too far behind. Especially if she's just willing to let her poor dog suffer through food poisoning. It sets a bad precedent and no wonder poor Anchor hasn't had his tendon re-attached (and had Covid twice, that baby is gonna end up with Long C.)
I'd say that for some xtians, the death of someone, especially a child (and maybe a dog), adds to the martyr scenario. I'm sure that if one of her kids dies due to her neglect, it'll be never ending...I'd assume she'll miss the child a bit, will probably use it for a lot of content, and then forget because there are so many kids she'll just be too overwhelmed to miss one out of a dozen.
I think people say "who cares if you're poor?" aren't thinking of actual poverty. They are thinking of money being a bit tight and having to watch their spending a bit vs. being carelessly wealthy, not actual, actual poverty where you may not know where your next meal will come from or whether you will have a place to live next month. I honestly think people like this are so far removed from reality that they don't even consider that kind of poverty. That's the only reason I can think of why anyone would say that.
Well said. Being strapped for cash isn’t a walk in the park, and it’s definitely uncomfortable. But uncomfortably tight finances are NOT the same thing as having to choose between electricity, rent, or groceries, or going to bed so hungry your stomach hurts.
People who claim how marriage is a struggle are the people who should not be together. There is "having issues but they are resolved in a reasonable period of time" and "it's a constant unresolved issue", the latter needs to end
@@ThatRedhedd the heteros are not okay and it's so horrifying how normalized it is not to be okay. "it's NORMAL to hate each other, not like each other, etc.".
I honestly hate that shit, my partner is often how I get through shit. I couldn't imagine the lack of self-respect it would take to have a partner who is constantly putting me through shit instead.
Always people who try to convince everyone else to be married too. They're just trying to convince themselves and bring others down with them. I mean, I'm married, I love it. But it literally is a huge pet peeve for me because 1. it makes marriage look like it should be suffering and it doesn't have to be. They're actively trying to convince (mostly women) to stay in harmful or emotionally draining relationships. 2. they're always insulting unmarried or belittling unmarried relationships. My parents have never been married. I waited 7 years to be married to my husband. Many people I know are unmarried. And all are happy and real relationships.
@@LeapThroughTheSky I hate when they are dismissive of unmarried relstionships - my partner and I have been together for 18 years (so, since we were 13) and we still aren't yet married because we just haven't had the opportunity. We have lived together since we were 19 and we are best friends. Marriage isn't necessary to having a good, strong relationship. It's disturbing to see people like this insisting that relationships come with constant suffering as if that's a totally standard and expected thing. My partner and I have been through some nasty shite, but it was never against each other, we are always strong together.
As an elementary teacher of 10 years, I am SHOCKED at the homeschooling 'curriculum', if you can call it that. Predicting the weather and writing about your five senses? This is something common in a Kindergarten or first grade classroom, but this curriculum is asking HIGH SCHOOL age students to do these tasks.... This is absolutely disturbing. These poor babies. 😭
having a child in between them while they are taking jabs at each other and screaming to imitate how they sound when they are angry breaks my heart. This is what they deem appropriate for the internet to see, what must be going on in their homes behind closed doors...? those poor kids... they are witnessing and being subject to abuse... where is the CPS? is it not severe enough for them to intervene...?
They probably have no idea what to do with all of the kids… I’ve seen it happen firsthand. Really sad. You never know, but that’s what I’ve experienced
The issues around Eugenia Cooney that Rachel mentions starting around 29:00, to me really speak to the need for a basic minimum income. If someone can make a career out of being sick, they shouldn’t then have their income taken away for it (or conversely for going into recovery). It should be possible to deplatform people who spread harmful values without putting them in financial peril, which is an incentive not to reconsider their beliefs. I see the idea that everyone has to generate an income at all times as a core issue.
I don't agree with the cancer comparison. Someone with cancer having a platform doesn't encourage others to have cancer. Eugenia is promoting her harmful skewed mentality to others and serves as a role model. It's not just that she's ill.
Problem is, Eugenia is rich at this point. Millions (billions?) of views, probably millions from streaming. She buys luxury brands. She owns the house her parents live in. She would be fine without income. She wouldn't be fine being stuck with her family though. That's the only thing I'd worry about. I don't think her family has her best interest or safety in mind (there's something terribly wrong in that house). But would it put her financially at risk? No. I don't think it would.
Sigh. Seeing the video of Mandrae joking with the kids about how he hits them makes me think of my neices and their father (who is now in jail). When they were around three or four, they were visiting at our house and playing in the pool, and the kids were racing (wearing their little floaties of course, so adorable), and my younger sister said "Yes! Beat her!" as encouragement. This resulted in the eldest daughter turning around and raising her hand to hit her sister in the uncoordinated way that a child might do that with floaties on, because the only meaning of the word "beat" to her was to hit someone. Abuse and exposure to violence at that young of an age does irreparable damage to a child, it is never, ever excusable. My mom spanked me as a child, and I think there is something to calling spanking abuse, but violence so pervasive in a child's life that they identify an object whose primary use is to beat them is absolutely despicable, in no way debatable.
My friend with over 25 years in tourism industry: "Let me help you understand covid and vaccines". Me with 23 years as a nurse: "Did you forget what I do?" One FLAWED vaccine study (admitted by those who did it) and everyone listens to an actress warning people.
One study which has been disavowed by all participants except the lead, who started the study to invent a disease so a company he had been approached by could increase their market share for single disease vaccines instead of a combination one.... accordingly to the investigative journalism done on it ever since the study came out.
Andrew Wakefield is like the stone landing in water that has caused never ending ripples. he fed into a subculture that was just waiting for a spokesperson
The cute couple photos paired with rambles about how hard relationships are...I remember this phenomenon I would see, particularly with extra-religious couples. One of them, usually the wife, would post on social media about how amazing their partner was, how much they loved each other, etc, often accompanied with photos of the two of them. Then a few months later, they'd announce they were separating. It was like it was an attempt to convince everyone else, or themselves, that things were fine. So now my instinctual reaction when people gush about their partner is to ask if they're okay.
I’m a labor and delivery nurse. There are some selfish people who just want the baby to be born early because they are done with the discomforts of pregnancy, no matter the consequences of a preterm birth. Sometimes younger girls think the smaller babies are cuter, and it’s more about sheer ignorance of the risks.
My husband has 17 siblings. Granted it is a little different because 14 out of 18 were in foster care and adopted. But i will say it speaks volumes that all of the older children that are now having kids are stopping after one or two. Non of the siblings I talk to want to have a big family. They have really bad memories about growing up in such a packed household. And now they are dealing with their parents not able to be grandparents to their children because they are still too busy raising the 8 left at home. It has put a huge strain on the family.
My grandpa used to take in kids like these or neglected kids all the time. He only had 2 kids bio & one adopted girl but one time my dad said there was 30 kids living in their house with 5 adults. They were starving most of the time. They on the average had between 15-18 kids living with them. At 8 my dad ran away & my gran only missed him after 5 days.
@@beewest5704 that is so sad. A part of me wants to believe they just wanted to help all these kids have a better life. But my husband and his siblings have told me they felt like they grew up in a child mill. As soon as they graduated high school they had to move out so there was room to take in more kids. Never mind the fact that you can't even rent an apartment in Nebraska until you are 19.
Okay, so I've made it almost to the end of the video (oof.) and I have to comment again because I'm so horrified and ANGRY for that poor kid that I'm literally shaking. Firstly, there is NO SUCH THING as an undetectable UTI, that is a BS excuse to cover up the blatant parental neglect, "no way we could have known" my arse. If the kids pee was brown in the hospital then that's old blood, so she 100% was peeing fresh blood before that point and they did nothing. Secondly, as someone who almost died by ignoring a UTI as an adult, I can guarantee you that that poor child was SERIOUSLY SUFFERING and will have been in absolute, unimaginable agony for a considerable amount of time before going septic and finally being taken to the hospital. That is way beyond excusable ignorance or an "oops!" at that point, that is deliberate, wilful neglect that almost killed their daughter.
I also had a bad UTI in Nicaragua that turned into a kidney infection. I was in so much pain. I had a full body fever and was shaking uncontrollably (not shivering, but shaking). And even then, the blood was still red, my pee was still pink because it was fresh blood. It hurt so bad. I was vomiting and crying and drinking gallons of water. I was even taking some off brand Tylenol and it was still unbearable. It took two days for the antibiotics to kick in. There is NO WAY you wouldn't know your kid was in trouble. I imagine the child had similar symptoms, but I haven't arrived to that part of the video yet. There is no way the mom didn't know. Also concerning is that it can be a sign of 2 specific types of abuse (s*xu*l and neglect), but I hope that's not the case for the poor child's sake.
Ive had a minor uti and my pee was cloudy and stank so bad. My kidneys ached for weeks. You can tell you can bloody tell when its a uti and she was ignoring that poor kid for so long??? And you can get long term kidney issues from it getting so severe
i had a UTI at 8 which i didn’t tell my mom about because i didn’t know it was bad, and it escalated until i needed to stay at the hospital with an IV, at that point i was crying every time i peed and had a fever for days
absolutely 100% agree, it's so ignorant. i've had a uti turn into a kidney infection, it is EXCRUCIATING pain. it hurt to sit down, bend over, etc. i was so miserable, exhausted and just wanted to sleep all the time. i've had UTIs several times but never did it get so bad that blood was ever visible in my urine. i fear this poor, poor child was neglected and in anguish for such a long time to have it even get to that point....
@@m4tta i'm sorry, that's awful. i can see that happening easily. my mom always trained me as a child to tell her if peeing felt different (if it burned, diff colour, etc.) for this exact reason. kids get embarrassed about bathroom stuff sometimes and don't know how serious it is.
The note at the end that was written by the 13 year old. Omg. I thought it was written by a 6-7 year old. I’m not kidding. That is so far behind. My heart breaks for those children. It’s going to be hard to get normal jobs when they grow up, or even get into a college. I feel so so bad for them. And so mad at those horrible parents.
That's part of the point honestly. Can't go to college, can't get a job, cant get influenced be "the leftist propaganda", perfect for spitting out more uncared for babies though 😥😥😥
So, I run a program and had high schoolers write me a 5 paragraph essay. There's a few homeschool kids, but mostly schooled kids. Firstly, I had to give them examples of how to write a 5 paragraph essay. I should have given them examples of basic sentence structure because none of what I got back was highschool level. There were grammatical errors, spelling errors, and a basic lack of sentence structure.
I can see the fundie excuse for not educating girls because they just need to be moms (obviously i vehemently disagree, but i can at least understand their reasoning). But the boys will need to be able to get jobs to support their families. How can they do that if they can barely read?
How on earth did this woman let her newborn go 40hrs without feeding?? That is a medical emergency. A newborn shouldn't even go as long as 6 hrs before feeder because they will literally begin to starve (I know because my kid loved to sleep so much the doctors warned us to make her wake up for milk.)
The dog story is horrific. One time my dad accidentally left an ibuprofen on the counter and while I was in the shower my cat (Tansy) got ahold of it. She bit into it and got some of the gel in her mouth, luckily she threw up immediately and continued to do so for about 2 days. Meanwhile I am frantically calling vets for help and NO ONE would take her. Our vet at the time said they wouldn't take her because they wanted me to go to an emergency vet which I understood but wouldn't even allow me to make an appointment for later in the week for a second check/follow up. The emergency vet wouldn't take her because they would need to monitor overnight and "dont do that anymore ". I was so angry and devastated, I cried for nearly 3 days straight and everytime she threw up because I felt horrible. Luckily my beautiful little tiggy is a happy, healthy kitty now. I had just lost another cat months prior due to a "vet accident" as she passed under anesthesia. Naturally I have a distrust for most vets but I can't imagine not taking my pet when they're in crisis. (I want to add my area has a reputation for poor veterinary services but luckily have found one I trust)
I'm glad Tansy/Tiggy (I couldn't tell which from your post) is alright, and I'm sorry you lost your other kitty. Vets can be difficult sometimes, we really need better care for animals systemically.
@@NeoNovastar ya its honestly quite scary. Luckily my sister started working at a vet clinic near by and they do great work. They bought her dog 6 months after she was diagnosed with cancer and a tumor on her spleen. Thats where we are gonna go next time my cat needs a checkup.
It’s especially disturbing considering that somebody this careless at raising a pet is not only reproducing at high rate, but also serving as the sole educator for their offspring. The poor kids :(
I don’t know how a dog wouldn’t have just gobbled it up within the first little bit. You cannot keep food out with my one cat, that’s for sure. A half can of wet food (the serving size for his weight and age) is eaten within ten meds tops…I don’t get this story. Plus. I can’t imagine a dog being just inside ALONE for two weeks. Bathroom, energy, more dry food even…I wouldn’t even leave my cats more than 24 hours without a food/litter box/brief companionship petting or cuddle or playtime. And cats are typically a lot more self sufficient…
@@MusikGirl23right!?!? I couldn’t imagine leaving my dog for even 1 day, let alone 2 weeks wtf? I don’t leave my cat for more than 24hrs either, unless someone can visit and spend a few hours with her. But dogs shouldn’t even be left for more than a few hours. I’ve never left my dog on her own, she’s still a puppy but I don’t ever plan on leaving her for more than a couple of hours. If you work long hours or feel the need to go on long trips, don’t get a dog… unless you bring the dog with you. that’s my opinion anyway
PSA UTIs are super common, especially in little girls. Something like 6-8 in 10 little girls have something called urinary reflux, where the valves in the urethra don't completely close. It's the same idea as how heartburn happens, but with urine going back up the urinary tract. My parents were super vigilant with me as a baby, and I still landed in the hospital for a week at 18 months old with a kidney infection. Be vigilant about bath additives; bubble baths aren't great for avoiding UTIs, and don't make your kids hold their pee if they don't absolutely have to.
I was infuriated during the story about her dog and the cruise. I had a very similar experience with a neighbor. But instead of a cruise, they just moved. Not sure how long they had been refusing to pay the bill, but I noticed the dog about a week after the power to their property was cut. The dog had no more food, and the water was disgusting. We were able to get the dog to a safe home after I broke it out.
I remember when a childhood neighbor did that. And one time I found a half paralyzed cat because the owner threw her in the trash pile as they moved out.
I'd never heard of Karissa until this video. Her posts on the thumbnail led me to believe this woman met an early demise by being pressured into "being fruitful and multiplying", and that Rachel was going to discuss how religion hurts women; it definitely still does but to hear Karissa herself endorse a thing that demands every moment of her life anyways is chilling.
Rachel is just so great for not only calling out the misinformation but correcting it and explaining further and/or referring to her more in-depth discussions without judgment.
Really relating to what you said about how it’s cruel to the existing children to keep having more kids when they already aren’t provided for financially. I grew up poor, like free school lunches, no winter coats, running out of groceries, and I cannot imagine how much worse it would’ve been with MORE siblings. Just such a lack of care for her children
my take on the ED thing is my take on my bipolar: Im mentally ill. I shouldn't be deplatformed SOLELY for that. But if I was continually lashing out, attacking people, insulting people etc, I should be deplatformed. If you're doing bad actions you should be taken off the internet BECAUSE OF THE ACTIONS.
As someone who was also raised by missionaries, and my dad has studied Hebrew and Greek so he could read original texts from the Bible, she is WILDLY misinterpreting that verse. That verse is essentially saying that we should take care of our bodies and keep them healthy and "pure." Not to mention, the context of the passage as a whole has absolutely nothing to do with child birth or raising children. It was about sexual immorality (i.e. adultery, child molestation, etc).
Mad respect for your father. I grew up learning Hebrew in school. I have made mild attempts at Greek. I applaud everyone who puts in the effort and has such desire.
Almost 4 hrs?! Girl you amaze me!! Take care of yourself and mental health ❤ thank you for all you do for us so we don’t have to watch Karissa herself 😭
Thank you Rachel for bringing up the struggle of being a child in poverty and working class parents. The constant worry about them and the loneliness I felt as a child where intense. My parents worked often 10 hours or more to odd times to support us. I was mostly alone at home and had to take care of cooking, cleaning and such because I felt obligated to. My parents did so much for me and I had to give back somehow. My best friend was in poverty themself and I helped them with their newspaper delivery job after school. When I started my training to be a hairdresser, I had to work at night for my family too. In my teenage years I worked almost 12 hours a day. I mean yeah their are protection laws normally but... There was no other way sadly. Now as an adult I had to take a long break from work and live an unemployment pay and work on my mental health. (And even then I had months were I only had rice to eat). So honestly: Thank you for bringing it up. No child should live in such suffering. Moreover, I think we often get forgotten by people.
I was homeschooled for the first 3 years of high school. It was amazing for me because I was able to heal and grow out of debilitating social anxiety. (I went back to regular school for my senior year). But I had regulated workbooks for biology, history, language arts and Bible study. I read books and did reports for English, I took dance classes for PE. I struggled with math, so twice a week I went to my grandmother’s (who was a retired teacher) and we studied the chapters and I completed the chapter tests. No one person was responsible for my education, even though I wasn’t in traditional school. One person being responsible for ten children’s education at the same time while not even being qualified to teach anyone is appalling.
My sister and I were incredibly well-planned. My parents were married 8 years before they had their first kid, and I came 2 years later. They always planned to only have two, and they even timed the pregnancies so we’d be born in the summer, since my mom was a professor and could get a few months to care for us. As an adult, I understood just how much birth control and prophylactics must’ve been involved in that, and it’s baffling to think about, especially considering how many couples have unplanned children or just decide to start trying for a kid and let nature take its course.
I'm half Indian, and it's very ingrained in the culture (higher castes and people with resources of course) to prepare for pregnancy 6 months to a year before trying to get pregnant. The importance of prenatal vitamins in preventing neural tube defects was impressed on me from a young age. I am always surprised at people who have and keep "oopsie" pregnancies.
By the way the skin lightening claims are referring to her using filters/editing to make her children's skin look lighter. That's separate from the "skin bleaching" claim.
That was the impression I got as well, but I think Rachel’s overall point still stands - it’s hard to definitively prove that this is being done intentionally, if at all, and it very well could be chalked up to natural variations in skin tone throughout the year.
Karissa's kids have different hair textures from each other and she doesn't bother to learn them. I live in a part of the US with quite a few biracial kids and you can tell whose mom is white by how bad their hair is cared for. Very few white moms learn how to do their kids' hair when it doesn't come out straight like theirs
I am literally FLABBERGASTED by this woman! Cannot believe someone with these beliefs and these actions actual exists!!! I literally had my jaw dropped for so much of this. I didn't think it could get worse & it just kept going.... eeeeeeks!!!! I hope those kids get the care they need somehow! P.S. Rachel, you SLAYED this video! Your hard work does not go unnoticed! So much impressive dedication in putting together nearly FOUR HOURS of enjoyable content! You keep my attention alllll the way through. I’m so sorry but being pregnant for essentially 14 years straight sounds like a nightmare
My grandmother had 13 kids and 6 miscarriages and they wmonce calculated she'd been knowingly pregnant for almost 15 years
It will shorter your life span for sure. It takes so much form the body. And every pregnancy increases the risk of complications. It is to me, horrifying.
I agree & I had a very very easy pregnancy. Still wouldn’t want to be pregnant that many times. It’s so damaging to your body/health as well.
Fat shaming the baby inside you is a new level of something.
The part about her not being able to eat because of the procedure with checking her heart and coping with that by saying she needs to lose 20 lbs because of her most recent baby 😢 oy vey
Unfortunately it sounds like a new level of an eating disorder which is a mental illness she needs serious treatment for
@crissy4445 but these people believe mental illness is made up. So she never will seek it.
It’s definitely hard to wrap ones head around

As a lifelong American, we do NOT know what is wrong with our bathrooms! The gaps are the worst and we hate them!
There are over 40,000 toilet-related injuries in the U.S. each year according to Wiki Answers. With all the hard surfaces in a toilet stall, it makes sense to be able to see if someone gets hurt." You just are incorrect on this one.@@kirbysthiccthighs
@@kirbysthiccthighs I don’t feel like the gaps underneath or a problem because I can totally see you needing to know who is in there for safety reasons. My issue is with the gap between the door and the stall wall.

Yeah, it is.
She sounds like she has a pregnancy kink 😬
Looking at you nick cannon
Very good point.
She doesn’t gaf about these kids, she only cares about using them as her little money makers. I never once see a video of her showing love or affection to her kids just shoving the camera in their face and telling them to impress us!!
When you have more kids than days of the week or even days off...
*_You probably have too many kids._*
I think 6 is the MAXIMUM the average person could POSSIBLY have time for.

WTF?!
This whole vid is horrifying so far, but it's hacked up having even a single child, when that neglectful of a a pet one supposedly loves!
she doesn't carw for changing her babies diapers so she certainly doesn't care about the dog bowl
Crazy as hell... would she open a can of beans, serve herself a plate, and put it in the cupboard?? Of course not 😳
also, who in their right mind would leave their dog wet food and go away for 2 weeks?? mind-boggling 🤯
I would've recorded
Scream prayers???? 😮
the children are very neglected. for example Karissa will let her baby sit in dirty diapers all day…you can tell she doesnt change her youngests diapers in her reels on instagram.
Like Bonnie Franke does..all these family vloggers scare TF outta me lol
karissa's story about almost killing her dog had my jaw on the literal floor. when she revealed this was WET FOOD and not even kibble being left out for more than 2 days... that is insane behavior. i have cats and i dont even let their dry food sit out for more than a day. my stock of kibble is stored in an airtight container and wet food is in airtight containers in the fridge if i have leftovers. and the way she was watching her dog suffer and die like "i wish i could do something" and then telling the story like this isn't INSANE, PSYCHOPATHIC BEHAVIOR is beyond comprehension. you can tell exactly what kind of person someone is by how they treat animals, especially their pets.
My cat started sitting on his covered litter box to watch me cook and I worried he had urinary problems. Spent nearly $100 dollars to be told cats just like sitting on stuff! I don’t regret getting him checked out though
As someone who has had 3 high risk pregnancy, someone deciding on their own (without a doctor) to go into preterm labor IS NOT NORMAL.
Unfortunately nothing about Karissa is normal
Considering the way she was comparing her baby to her cousins baby it sounds like she wanted her baby to be a premie cause of “aesthetic” reasons 🤢

I was born 3 months early along with my twin and we were in the NICU for 2 months. My mom to this day hates hospitals. She was told to take pictures every day in case we weren't there the next day. Before I found out my cat had WFIP, I drove 4 hours each way to the only vet able to help me when I called at 1AM. Then I went on a 3 hour trip to get medicine for her. @@validark That was part of why my Oona passed. She had chronic URI and was 7 months old. She was also the runt of the litter. The fact she took such terrible care of her dog it’s honestly a miracle her that kids have made it past the first months of life
Well she can't force the dog to pray and marry them off into a life of servitude and cranking out more god bothering babies so I guess the dog doesn't rate in her eyes like the kids do
they’re anti-vaccine christian scientists who dont treat their childrens illnesses so im shocked all 10 of her children are alive, including the 14 year old. multiple of her children have serious illnesses as well.
I remember the Reddit post about how she lightens her children’s skin in photos. When I tell you my jaw DROPPED when I saw the unedited photos versus her edited ones. It is SO frustrating that that information isn’t accessible any more 😢
Oh wow, I’ve not seen that! Wish I’d been able to!
WHAT?!
Right!? She said she wouldn’t choose to die if the child was still in the womb!
If a mom isn’t willing to take a car head on for her child she is an evil person.
never heard of this chick but i don’t trust anyone who says they are “black in their hearts” 😂😂
For a good reason!
What does that even mean? 😂
Also, as a former Christian - her entire vibe (and all the flip-flopping and story changing) really feels like she's reframing herself as a martyr. Not necessarily intentionally, mind you.
Early posts: "Always wanted kids, even more than my husband."
Recent posts: "I gave up all my hopes and dreams in order to follow God and have infinite children because of how good a Christian I am :D"
"I did a *natural* birthing, even though people have created things that alleviate the dangers."
"I continue to have children against the recommendation of all my doctors. Look how much I sacrifice for my children and my god. :'D"
I'm getting a lot of "look how many souls I'm saving" vibes alongside that. First with how she met her husband and also with her arguing that all those unborn souls that are getting aborted just want to live. So it feels like she's having all these children so they can be souls to go to heaven and she's sacrificing herself for it
Everyone talking about God’s Will, but I am pretty sure that she isn’t gonna leave me anything at all…
I just had my ten year anniversary and I totally agree. We don’t fight, we communicate as adults. And we still adore each other.
"She had a fever, she lost all muscle control and her face drooped and her eyes didn't look right.. so we went to lunch"
B*tch WHAT?!
it’s people like the duggars and karissa collins that really make me wonder if their reason for having so many kids (having, not taking care of) is not loving kids but loving being pregnant. her words and the way she talks about how bad she wants to be pregnant really does just make it all sound like a pregnancy kink :/
I think they like the status and big boobs. Sadly.

Just a whole sports team of adults with the aptitude of a 6 year old.
Honestly, I think at times like this it's okay to call people stupid
Not only that her 13 year old can’t read properly nor spell properly. She is putting those kids on the same path as her.
Horrifying that there isn't stricter home schooling laws
Pretty funny how the people who are most vocal about how important it is to have kids are often the least qualified to be having them in the first place
100% this. It's like they can't do anything else.
So for her, it’s not an inconsistency.
but it is. karissa equated hitting with spanking when she joked about spanking her first baby and then saying she would never hit her kids.
This is an excellent observation.
She honestly seemed to think that giving her dog treats and talking her for a walk, when she had trouble walking, was a good idea.
i agree, the way of reasoning and logic seems like it
im sorry but with all due respect, thats ableist as fuck. people with intellectual disabilities are disabled, not abusive monsters like karissa.
as someone who works with those with cognitive disabilities, the lack of intonation in her voice also gives me that feeling. so sad because those who lack or have lessened critical thinking skills, are so easy to be indoctrinated, which i think is what happened to karissa.
I see a lot of signs of autism. Sad to think that if they weren’t so anti science and didn’t believe that autism is some disease that needs curing, Karissa might get a better understanding of herself and be less insufferable.
woah, we got a lot of psychiatrists in chat!
Everyone already knows what's happening to you so what's the point in telling someone?
makes me wonder what sort of heinous shit she's doing that doesn't get posted
Clout is like a drug to peoples minds- she does anything for clout and attention so ofc she has no problem admitting her horrible parenting in order for more people to talk about her.
B/c she truly believes that she's carrying out God's will. She's delulu

At least those kids aren't gonna get made fun of in school for their names. The one upside of their homeschooling I guess.
they wil have to spell their names for the rest of their lives and people will still mess it up. It's annoying and bothersome, I have a similar problem with my last name but at least my mum didn't choose it.

Former foster kid here.. thank you for being an advocate for the actual lives of kids 😁
I don’t care who they are on the inside, what matters is their behavior and the fact that it is damaging to the people who read it.
true. The real world damage of these things is clear, and needs to be stopped.
I absolutely agree with you
I agree. Karissa is clearly a very VERY harmful person to her children, animals and the people around her. One can empathize with her mental illness all they want but that doesn't take away their severe abusive and neglectful behavior. Karissa is a prime example of the people we should watch out for in this world.
I 10000% agree.
Rachel delivering a very different sort of horror for us this halloween 😮
Ooo, I’ve got a spooky story:
Once upon a time, there was a person who needed health insurance. They lived in America.
Right? It keeps getting worse.
💔
It’s always been very obvious to me that Karissa has a learning disability on top of other severe chronic mental health issues.
She seems to genuinely not understand the most basic things.
didn’t know we had a psychiatrist in chat!
I wouldn’t fully blame her behavior on mental health. Maybe it plays a part of some in her behavior but however that doesn’t excuse her at all.
Lol they are very unhappy. They can't even pretend.
Rachel - amazing video as always. just want to point out that UTIs in children is a red flag for CSA. this is not always the case obviously but it is seen as suspicious. i sincerely hope these kids are safe in every possible way.
Agreed
I was thinking the same thing
Yes. We learned about this in my peds class last semester in med school. We learned about how to identify cases of CSA, it was a heavy and horrible class, especially when we had to learn how to see if a little girls himen had been damaged. And we talked about UTIs being a red flag.
How do you care for so many kids while being constantly pregnant - and homeschool? There is no way you can do that and meet your kids needs.
It's easy when you don't care one bit about your kids' needs. That's how these toxic people operate by default. 🫤

She knows exactly why Anthym was septic. She also knows why she ended up in the PICU.
that part absolutely astounded me. especially the part where she claimed it was just a "small fever" before it "all of a sudden" turned into septic shock. i'm currently recovering from a uti and man. the fever is absolutely Not small. my fever reached almost 40 degrees and i was shivering with chills the entire time. how on earth could she not notice the severity of those symptoms in her child? the downplaying is quite honestly insane.
christian scientists always have lots of children only to neglect them. you cant pray away illness.
@@hbernaiche01exactly, the kid is being abused.
I love our little family and I wouldn’t change a thing.
as someone who was homeschooled i swear not all homeschooling is like the “education” this kids got
Yes. The problem is there is no regulation whatsoever
I was using this video as a sleep aid and woke up very confused and dazed durning the abortion song
They're the Darwin's award winner 🏆😂, love it
I think people say "who cares if you're poor?" aren't thinking of actual poverty.
Right? She's all, "All relationships are painful..." Excuse me?
@@ThatRedhedd the heteros are not okay and it's so horrifying how normalized it is not to be okay. "it's NORMAL to hate each other, not like each other, etc.".

In regards to the CPS part
They don’t even seem like they have chemistry.
Great point
@@BeautifulVojonyer You’re not too bright are you, chum.
I don't agree with the cancer comparison. Someone with cancer having a platform doesn't encourage others to have cancer. Eugenia is promoting her harmful skewed mentality to others and serves as a role model. It's not just that she's ill.
@@slavbarbiefrom what i know she doesnt talk about her ED or promote things actively or encourage others to be anorexic
*niece. my goodness, it is late

My friend with over 25 years in tourism industry: "Let me help you understand covid and vaccines".
Me with 23 years as a nurse: "Did you forget what I do?"
One FLAWED vaccine study (admitted by those who did it) and everyone listens to an actress warning people.
One study which has been disavowed by all participants except the lead, who started the study to invent a disease so a company he had been approached by could increase their market share for single disease vaccines instead of a combination one.... accordingly to the investigative journalism done on it ever since the study came out.

They really try to do that to cover their own secrets. I feel really bad for them
I’m a labor and delivery nurse.

So, I run a program and had high schoolers write me a 5 paragraph essay. There's a few homeschool kids, but mostly schooled kids. There were grammatical errors, spelling errors, and a basic lack of sentence structure.

Birth control saved my sis from bleeding out on her period. Karissa thinks that’s not needed?☠️

My sisters and I were very sensitive and the wrong material in underwear or even certain brands of toilet paper would lead to infection down there.

Im mentally ill.
I shouldn't be deplatformed SOLELY for that.
But if I was continually lashing out, attacking people, insulting people etc, I should be deplatformed.
If you're doing bad actions you should be taken off the internet BECAUSE OF THE ACTIONS.
And if you were encouraging people to go off their meds and only use prayer, that would be dangerous to others besides yourself
I admire your ability to calmly analyse these triggering people.
It’s wild that this isn’t considered a form of negligence and some sort of silly quirk.
My white mom did NOT know how to take care of my hair so she took me to someone who did
I am literally FLABBERGASTED by this woman!
Everything is organized so well, even when it's a mess of a story like this one! Thank you so much! As long as you keep posting, I will always plan to watch! xoxo
P.S.S Love your sweet pup's random cameos! I hope they never stop
