I think they'd go well. Some of the E-4 presets have some slightly odd timings but that might even work out OK - a bit flam-like. The main thing may be to make sure you take a split of the drum output so you have some dry signal to mix in with the effect.
The mic input is too sensitive, constantly peaking. But the device has a line input though, with TRRS in the Mix Out, which can be accessed individually with a splitter
I think Erica Synths gear has got me used to overloading inputs - their gear loves it :D I know you're CBC but I didn't have a splitter so wasn't going to let that stop me.
@@RichardDeHove Worth a play, I wired it up to a monitor mix on my mixer and fed a mix through it so I could use it to transition between tracks. I think using it as a vocal unit is a bit limiting and they could have marketed it in a completely different way.
Wait! I just got the E-4... and I have a Malevolent too! Oh, I didn't even consider this. That line box is a bit pricey, maybe I'll go in through the 'mix out' w the iRig2 using that 'secret' line in technique? I'll see if that works.
If you've already got the iRig2 then that's a bit of luck. It'd be interesting to know whether there's a big sound quality difference between the methods.
Nice vid. I don’t get why Roland didn’t put an internal limiter option… the new engineers are not like the ancient ones… which other glich machines are available and good on the mkt?
The closest thing I actually used (since sold) is the Fabrikat by Pladask which are USD300 and rarely in stock. I had a lot of fun with that but somehow it just didn't seem to like synths. Otherwise something like the Red Panda Particle 2 would be a good choice or maybe even the Meris Ottobit. I do think it's a bit funny that this pretty gimmicky plastic Roland thing can sit along these very boutique pedals.
Hey, I'd been wondering how that thing sounds when you use it like that, seems pretty fun! I always enjoy putting external stuff through the scatter on my TR8-S, similar kind of vibe but not the same. I like it!
@@RichardDeHove I'm sure I'll be there when it happens. I've been wondering if you still have the Norand Mono? I picked one up at a good price recently and love it. If you're still using it I'd welcome more vids about that machine. I like your style, this channel is nice and chilled and easy to get along with.
@@adamoliver82 Thanks boa. I did love the Norand Mono. I was very close to buying a second one and using them as a drum machine duo, then along came the LXR-02. Unfortunately I can't afford to buy loads of new stuff without selling old stuff so I have a long list of long lost friends. I still feel a bit sad about getting rid of my Sub-37 and just a few weeks back I sold my OB-6 in hopes of getting a new Syntrx2 when they're released soon. OTOH I look at some videos where people have huge studios with racks and racks of keyboards - I think I'd be completely paralysed for choice. What are your plans for the Mono? I often thought if I could only have one little machine that'd be it, it's so versatile.
This thing sounds like it would be very much at home on a Skinny Puppy album.
By varying the clock rate and switching on the harmonizer you can get much deeper weirdness.
This comment alone would make me buy one
@@Trig242 😂😂😂
Very cool !
Very cool! I'm going to have to glitch some synths now 😊
Hey, cool video! Definitely one of the best on the Voice Tweaker. I'm curious to know how drums would sound with this effect.

It's a fun box. The other useful function is the looper on it. Handy for putting a few additional layers on a jam.
Haven't made it to the looper yet (except by accident). They've packed a lot of functions into this thing!

@@DocBolus Yep, a metal case, a few more knobs and a decent line-in and this would be an incredible machine.

It's fun changing the glitch clock rate too - will get into that next time. I also want to see what horrible noises I can get out of the vocoder :)

what's about the looper?
I never got past having fun with the delay....
Hey, alright. Ive been wondering. For the money the j6 looks pretty cool.
They seem to have quite a lot of functionality packed in. The E-4 absolutely requires study of the manual but the basics are pretty clear.
Black Metal vs. Black Plastic. Der Roland kann die DB01 nicht schmälern.
Ja, zusammen sehen sie OK aus, aber nur der DB-01 hat die Qualität, um in Jahren noch im Einsatz zu sein.
