- Cars can be an expensive hobby, but what if money wasn’t a problem? This story follows Walter Wolf, who used his wealth and desires to reinvent the Countach, inspire countless enthusiasts, and aid in saving Lamborghini altogether.
While researching past videos I stumbled across rumblings of a Countach within the infamous Mid Night Racing Team. I decided to dig a bit deeper, but had no idea this would turn into such an involved and interesting story - I hope you enjoy it!

The Japanese was actually real crazy about the Countach that it's not only appeared in many movies and Circuit Wolf, it actually appeared in another manga that's about a boy who somehow got a LP400 from an odd source and began learning to drive well with it, even facing odds like the Ferrari Boxer and the rare Jota and the manga's aptly named... "Countach".
Also, since you brought up Wolf's Kremer K3, I think you need to dive deeper into Whittington Brother's 935 K3 team also. One of the biggest weed smugglers in America in that time by using their IMSA team to do it. Also, the 1979 Le Mans win? Yea that's the same team that got implicated in the drug bust. Also, besides motor racing, they also raced planes at the Reno Air Races thus this team certainly needs a vid explaining their motives, on why they do it and how they do it on top of their racing history from planes to how they managed to win said 1979 Le Man races you mentioned and how did they move their "drugs" across the US.
Why WM anime not have a character racing in a Countach is beyond me
Ah yes the 112.

This channel is the very definition of underrated
I just absolutely love your content!! I really appreciate the amount research that has gone into these videos
Thanks Karl! I really appreciate it!
Same here. I am a real car guy but I saw some new stuff for me on this Walter wolf video and now I am subscribed for more content. Cool thing is the many photos/video with the stories

I made a Mid Night style Diablo on GT7 so the thumbnail had me shook
The reason the F1 wing didn't work was that the Countach is naturally balanced already. The wing made too much rear downforce and caused it to understeer severely. The ones you see on the production Countach make next to no downforce.
The quality and professionalism of production on TH-cam exceeds a lot of mainstream output. This channel is one those. Great work.
This has to be my favourite car story ever. Japan, rich racing team owners, Lamborghini, passionate tuners, and full circles, so so cool
That pagani story sounds sick, can't wait for that!
I'm glad someone's finally made a video on the Mid Night Countach.
Just started the video and I already know it's gonna be a good one
I live in British Columbia and often see Mr. Wolf out with his daughter having coffee, I’ve spoke to him on occasion and he’s an interesting individual to say the least and the last of a dying breed. I’ve known who he was since about 8 years of age after receiving a slot car racing set from Santa and it having f1 wolf car. I told him the story up a the ski hill about 4 years ago and his eyes lite up.
Wish i could meet an interesting man like that.
I LOVE that you find “hidden” car stories that feel as magical as when i first started learning about cars. Always stoked for your vids, KEEP IT UP!!!
Wow! This is a lot of information. I knew about the Wolf Specials being very important for the Countach (and by extension, Lamborghini's survival in the 70s) but this is way more than I knew about them before. Also. Anyone who played Gran Turismo 2 remembers that Lotus Europa!
@yellowbird yeah It was one of the colors of the racing modification for the Europa. Also the rm car was used in the grindelwald special license test
I know you are always asking for video ideas. There is already a great short documentary, but I think this story deserves a HuntersMoon version.
The crowdfunded record at the Nurburgring with the 2017 dodge viper gtrs organized by Russ Oasis. And you could even throw some more facts about the incredible dodge viper and all of its still current lap records that it holds!
What I love with your recent videos is it made most of us realized that we only know surface-level of information and realizing some unexpected connections of several known personalities in car world.
You make some of the best documentary style videos I've seen, you've done a great job!
Such a cool story dude! Very well done honestly! Love your video stories!
Thanks Zypher!
Protect Hunter's Moon at all costs! this is legendary research, truly.
I’m a lifelong Porsche and Lamborghini fanatic and I love retelling the stories of my favourite marques to friends and family. Your videos make it way easier to introduce my passion to folks who aren’t as deep into the lore as I am.
Keep it up! Your channel is incredible.
I was a fan of cars and JDM stuff but man your vids gave me more insight and tbh made me love the culture more also great job you're improving every video
You just don't miss man! Soo awesome to get to know the countach on this level. Thank you for your quality content :)
Thanks Chris! I'm worried I'm burning through all the good stories but I'll try to keep em coming!
The only Mid Night Countach I've ever heard off up until now was a red one on a Speedhunters article a while ago. Had no wing, but was parked in some sort of parking lot. Good to know there was another one in white and was quite active. Speaking of white cars, I wonder if somehow this particular white Countach inspired the white Testarossa in Wangan Midnight. Albeit, in a small way?
Probably, for an example the tuner mentioned here that could tune anything, seems to have been the basis of Kitami Jun.
Really interesting to see where the slight bit of truth to the Wangan Midnight franchise comes from.
Man, your content is top notch! Thanks for all work you do to entertain all of us car people with the stories and history!
Absolutely amazing. I love old, obscure supercars from the 80's and 90's and the stories surrounding them. I enjoyed every second of this. You deserve many, many more subscribers!
The countach is from 1972. It looked like a UFO In 72. It was produced until 1989. So it's a 70s car.
@@jasonmeehan1269 I'm very well aware of the history of the Countach, thank you. No need for any lectures, good Sir. I was merely stating my own preferences regarding cars. However, few would argue with the fact that the Countach is an 80's icon (despite its roots in the 70's). Have a good day now 😊👋
@@86Hasse it wasn't a lecture, just a fact.

Best video on Walter Wolf and his contribution to that great Italian marquee. Well done.
Haven't been this early for a documentary. Dang
I love the research you poured into this as well as the lucid narration. Nice tease for a Pagani video! Looking forward to it someday!
I love your channel!!! I am here since your first video. And I absolutely love how you made a video about the Belgrade Phantom! Big love from Bosnia!

Another amazing documentary I've tinkered with countàches for the last two years making the GT1 car a few times and even making one as a representation of Areoflash from Hotwheels highway 35 world race and man this just reignites my love and struggle with the car
Anyone that uses home as a soundtrack and makes car videos is a friend. Thak you for sharing!

why does every story involving lamborghini have to be such tearjerkers
You are doing you’re best, thank you for all your R&D that goes into this. This is like old school tuner magazines mixed with donut and it’s easy to sit through even though I have adhd
Yes! Keep making these mate.
Been craving for new chapters of the Countach manga for months now, this temporarily filled that craving~
This feels so exclusive. Excellent video.
the pagani teaser sent chills down my spine, its like seeing a new villain after the movie is finished

I absolutely love your videos. There is so much quality information here and so much I've never heard of. Your videos also have an immersive quality to them, as if stepping into a time machine and reliving these moments.
Thank you.
Seeing this great people with their great passion makes me want to take my hat off and salute them.. Great video, worth every second of my time!
Years ago I went on a day trip to Legendary Motorcar with my dad and we went on the full tour of their facility. When they brought us to the workshop they were talking us through their GT40 PR, C3 Corvette racer, 1977 race winning Wolf F1 car, and a handful of other cars. Being the sneaky kid I was, I hung back from the group and climbed into the Wolf as soon as line of sight was broken. I only sat in the thing for a minute or so because I was more interested in the GT40 that the group was looking at because endurance racing is just way better!
The amount of information in this video and research that went into into this video must be insane truly loved this video and your story telling
I love your videos and i really appreciate all the time, passion, and effort put into it. Keep it up!
Great video! I used to work at Terai Engineering with Teruaki Terai, the guy who made the yellow racing Countach. Terai San was formally an engineer at Leyton House F1, and later the AO racing Spice GT car that ran in the Japan Sports Prototype Championship Series. He was also a member of the Japan Lamborghini Owners Club. That Spice car was meant to get a Lamborghini V12 and race at Le Mans but after much negotiations with the Lamborghini factory that dream never materialized. As the club’s dream was to one day go racing with a Lamborghini V12, they eventually got the idea to convert one of the club members Countach in to the yellow car we see in the video!
I remember Terai San saying the Countach was a terrible chassis to go racing in...poor brakes, terrible aerodynamics, and heavy. But he put in a little Terai magic and made it work. And that the sound of that V12 screaming on the circuit made everything worthwhile!
The garage was located on the outskirts of Shizuoka city, Shizuoka.
always look forward to these
Finally an in-depth video about these beauties, thank you very much !
This channel deserves way more subs and views, it is so educational, i love listening to it in the background while drawing/playing. Listening to legendary japan stories is such great content that needs so much more views on. I've made a really great choice to click on your channel 3 month ago, keep it up 🙏❤

One of those channels you can tell is only gonna get better. Loving these videos. Congrats on the sponsorship keep it rocking brotha.
Fantastic documentary. Thank you
Paganis story is amazing. I love your take on car history.
An absolutely AMAZING short documentary! This shouldn't be Hunter's pet project, this is what he was meant to do PERIOD!
Give this man a blank check and watch the amazing content he will create.
I LOVE any and all _Midnight Club_ videos by you.
Money "Can" buy happiness, it just depends on what makes you happy, the one thing that is true is the fact you cannot be happy "Without" money
To keep it simple…
Your videos are something else!
They are documentaries!
❤
Walter Wolf is such a fucking bad ass!! He is the Lawrence Stroll of the past. I love his cars and only knew about his racing team before. I love that he put some of his Canadian pride on each of these cars he had. Thank you for this masterpiece!🇨🇦💪👑
I would love to see the story of 40 RA on this channel, you produce some awesome stories, keep it up!
I’m so excited to watch this
Man! amazing storys! thanks for putting it out there
Ever since playing Test drive, the Countach has been one of my favorite cars, along with the Ferrari 288 GTO.
I literally love your videos, your voice is amazing
Keep these coming. You’re well on your way.
My first Exposure to the Countach was _The Cannonball Run,_ That exact car is what I see as the epidemy of Lamborghini's vision as a supercar manufacturer. It's crazy to think that a Swiss Oil Magnate would be the driving force keeping Lamborghini going with their innovation and then to see multiple Countaches in Japan, its influence in manga and a ghostly white variant with the Midnight moniker stickered on it... quite the bedtime car story.
NEW HUNTER'S MOON AAAAAAA
This dude deserves 100x more subs. Seriously.
Unironically my favorite TH-cam channel atm. What a video!
hunter your channel is rad, man. your stories got me wrenching again after swearing off racing more than 15 years ago.
TH-cam's algorithm brought me here, and holy shit am I glad they did. I ended up late to work because I was glued to this video.
Amazing as always love this channel
I thought this was a nice summary of the Wolf Countachs. I introduced Walter to Fukuda-san in 2014.
Thank you so much for this video.as a kid I had the countach on my wall and always dreamed of owning one.this was so awesome to watch.thank you
This was definitely a neat story. Your videos always keep me locked in with interest. I can't wait to see what else you put out. And I'm looking forward to that Pagani story you hinted at near the end. Keep up the good work.
Wow, so many things I never knew. Thank you for the history lesson from someone who has loved these cars for years. I can imagine how much time you have put into researching your videos and it's much appreciated.
Dude no one keeps my attention this long, that was AWESOME
There are so many times when legends become so big, they disappoint you when you dive into the truth and what inspired them in the first place. Mid Night however is one of the very few that has the opposite effect, I'd know about the Porsche Blackbird and Devil Z, but didn't know about the Z32 or Lamborghinis as well or the Wolf story. That's why I love mid night and this channel! Excellent work as always.
Devil Z it's only been the name in Manga, Series, Movie ...
The real car wasn't named that.
@@ducedevlstear2471 no shit asshole, I referenced it's nickname from the manga/ movie because I liked it and there’s another Z so I called it that to cut down on confusion, no need to be so fucking pedantic.
You deserve alot more subscribers, and you/your channel will end up growing to something much bigger. I've been watching your stuff for about half a year now, and I love both the production quality, the dedication into getting these unknown portions of car history out for everyone. Hope to see more soon, keep up the quality content and don't give up!
Only one word: fantastic!
I didn’t know how much I needed your channel. Its great
Amazing video and quite inspirational
I saw your video about the Serbian 911 and fell in love with your videos! Keep it up man!
I'm shocked to see this youtube channel with only 35k subscribers when I thought it had more
Your videos are amazing. I hope this inspires future generations to keep car culture alive in their hearts and minds…
