Yes that’s awesome! I think very common back in the day. I want to drive mine behind my drafts so glad I was able to find an all original. Thx for sharing! Dave
Nice to see your restoring some history. Yes I have one as a yard decoration it was my dad's. They used it with horses then converted it to be pulled with a tractor. Will be interested in seeing the finished product.
Thats a great thing to have in your front yard, a family heirloom! This girl wont need much, Ive already got my parts list together to take to Ohio on my Amish visit. They still use these regularly so they have lots of parts! Thx for watching, Dave
I have one of these mowers . I started mowing with one of these mowers when I was 12 yr old , I mowed with it & my horses till3 yrs ago , I am. Now 77 yrs . Old I kept about 50 cows & use todo most of y mowing with my horses .
Good evening Dave, well l for one think its a beautiful bit of machinery l truly do.l seen them working on videos and they do a great job of cutting grass, hay whatever.Your very luck to have found it.lts going to look AMAZING when its restored, but it dose look as it is,l love it.Keeping this short !!
Hello Joyce! It is nice as it is but I will get her all dolled up just because I'm anal! Thx and hope all is well acroos the pond, rainy and cold here!
My grandparents had one just like that that I played on as a child. And of course she sold it when I was a teen for yard art. But I still have a hay rake, and a corn planted. I think the corn planter is a two row hawk. Maybe.
We just acquired one says new osborne auburn .However the tool stamp seems to be the same as yours IH. Let me know if i can email you some pics? Thanks!! would like to know the year etc.
yes you can email me pics for sure. Or if its easier just email your number and Ill text you and you can just send that way. Whichever is easier. Thx Dave
If you are wanting an operational one to use the you need to go to any of the larger Amish communities and ask around. That’s what I did, but if your wanting a yard art then you can find them pretty much on any rural farmland just grown over with weeds.
I got my parts up in Ohio from an Amish guy. His company is called Farmers Equipment. My email is in description of video, shoot me an email and I’ll make sure you get all his correct info. If you lay down at back of mower and look underneath on axle by toolbox, the date is stamped into frame. Mine was October 18, 1945. Look forward to hearing from you and thx for watching! Dave
Very interesting. The sickle mower is in good hands. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Thank you so much Mish!
My Grandfather converted an Albion sickle mower from horse drawn to tractor drawn in the early 1960's,to go behind a new grey fergie TEA 20

Get all the rust off of the cutter bar or else you'll break the pitman arm. I learned this the hard way.

Nice piece of history! I have one also. Where did you get the parts? I damaged mine last year. 😢 How did you determine the year?
