Thanks Ben. Lived at my parents house just over in Farnworth for a long time. Lots of walks and good sunrises round there. Love that you got the little wooden bridge in. Sad to see the towers go yesterday. Excellent shots my man
Hi Ben. I hope you and Sarah had a lovely holiday. No, I'm not familiar with the old towers at all. The end of an era and beautifully photographed and documented.
This mate, yeah all good this side, and we had a fantastic holiday, thank you. Yeah it’s a big part of this area and some will miss them. That’s again mate, all the best. 👍
Absolutely magnificent shots there Ben, they really are. I do understand your connection with the towers, as a kid growing up there was always a view from the top of our street of the Waitakere Ranges Mountains along the horizon in West Auckland, NZ. Even after I left home, whenever I went to visit my parents I would alway stop and soak in the views which always felt like coming home.
Thank you so much, that’s really appreciated. Yeah there is almost an instant welcome home isn’t there from these locations. Sounds a love place too. Thanks again and all the best. 👍
There's a conundrum for the philosophers: Do you prefer an obsolete power plant to another housing development? I, too liked the picture of the footbridge leading into the shot. And the frost was really cool (no pun). Anyway, good to see you back, Ben, and hope the trip to Venice and Slovenia went well.
Ahhh Ben, a lovely video with strong images. This was clearly an important shoot for you to do, a last hurrah and a slightly sentimental (in a good way) goodbye. I travelled from the south coast to Steetley Pier on a solo girl tour earlier this year and the feelings and fondness that you give out here are so familiar. They're tearing that old girl down sometime but the dates keep changing so I had to go up and photograph her in the final few weeks (as I thought) of her standing. My video was similar in my affection for the place. I'm sorry I never got to see your location but thank you for the posthumous introduction.
So sorry Louise, I’ve only just seen your comment, not sure how that slipped under the radar. Thank you so much, that’s really appreciated. It’s such a shame when these landmarks are removed, certainly something like a pier, we had similar in north wales a few years ago but I couldn’t get there to photograph it before it was too late. Thanks again and all the best. 👍
Great video and images Ben! I know it's been in the works for a while, but I'm sad to see these towers finally go myself. On my visits to Warrington, the towers were always a bit of a landmark for me to acclimate myself as I traveled in and around the Warrington area. Fantastic series of images starting at 7:50 and the footbridge image at 17:00 with the frost was absolutely stunning. Great tribute to a local icon, definitely sad to see them go (especially for a housing development). Hope you are doing well!
Thank you so much Paul, as always really appreciated. It’s all a bit of a change, I drove past there in the early hours yesterday and it’s very different, but it makes the main building look massive without the north end towers being there. All good this side mate, on the build up to Christmas now! Hope you’re doing well mate? 👍
Hi Ben great to see you back on YT I thought you'd packed it in 😊 I was gutted to miss the demolition but also kicking myself for not getting some images of the iconic structure. I work in the electricity industry and we visited the power station when I was at the training school back in the mid eighties!! I was actually travelling back home last Sunday evening and my wife mentioned about the demolition so I asked when it would be happening.......she said 'This morning' 😢 Do you know when they are planning to demolish the other towers? I might try and get some photo's before they do. For me they were iconic and didn't bother me as I live in SE Cheshire but I could understand some who live closer being glad that they've gone or soon to be gone. I had actually tried to plan capturing the full moon above the towers but never worked out where to shoot from. Nice tribute at the end
Thanks mate, no, I’ve not packed it in, just extremely busy with other bits and a failed vlog due to high winds at Ladybower Reservoir. I’m not sure when the others are coming down, but there was nothing to see when the north came down due to the fog again.🤭 I always find the canal path from spike island at the back of the power station a prime location for the remaining towers. Thanks again mate, really appreciated. 👍
@@BenMcDonaldPhotography OK thanks I'll check that location out 👍 I know what you mean about being busy. I don't even have time to process my images. I've got folders going back 18 months - 2 years that still need to be processed! I really don't know how you find time to process your images AND the videos

Thank you so much Tim, so glad you’ve managed to take something away with this. Really appreciated mate. 👍

Thank you so much Gary. Yeah it certainly does its job and never misses a beat! 👍

Absolutely Bill. Thanks mate, yeah Venice and Slovenia were amazing, no vlog from there though, all will be explained soon. Thanks again buddy! 👍

Great photos big bro 😎 as an Australian I can confirm I’ve never had ice on my gear.
Thank you so much, really appreciated. Haha nope, I guess not. 👍

Lived in Widnes & Runcorn
They've allways been there.
The coal the trains went
though Ditton Junction
to the Ferry.
Some great shots there mate, well worth getting a frozen jaw for 👍
Thanks mate, really appreciated. Yeah the jaw has just thawed out now! 😂
It is sadly no more. The towers have been brought down.
Yeah I’ve seen the videos of it, very interesting to watch and the end of an icon.
