For engines that are extremely dirty inside I use either kerosene or diesel fuel. Both are oil based so running it for a short period will not harm the bearings. For cleaning pistons and valves I use water. Get the motor hot and start adding water straight into the throttle body. If the throttle body is hard to access you can use one of the vacuum hoses and let it suck the water in. I normally use about 1/2 litre. It basically steam cleans the combustion chamber. Like when a head gasket blows and allows coolant in the cylinder. If you have ever seen that happen that one cylinder will look spotless. Adding water does the exact same thing. Just add small amounts of water so it doesn't stall the engine.
Only problem I've heard is that preventing too much water being ingested and you could hydrolock a cylinder toasting the engine. Might be better to get a cheap steam cleaner like you can get from Target or similar, used to remove wrinkles/silicone grouting. Get some steam into the intake and much mower chance of hydrolocking and its already hot steam so engine stays hot yielding a more effective steam cleaning. Really though, a decent engine cleaner is $10-20 and will keep the bearings lubed better than kerosene or diesel will.
I bet if you had drained the cleaner, refilled with a really lightweight oil, like 5W20, and used that to "rinse", it'd have been way cleaner and shiny.
@@Novous If you do the test with an Renault, an Chevrolet, and VW, and Ford, an Fiat and an Honda and Lada. I'd bet my money on the Lada and Honda. They can probably last the longest. And the "water" inside the engine could have helped it last longer as it cooled the engine, as opposed to without any oil. And i've seen these videos before, they run for 5 or 6 minutes at WOT if im not mistaking.
This is probably F23A7, or some other variant of the F23A. Not a terrible engine, but a bit old at this point. Not a good choice for engine swaps unless you already have a counter-clockwise spinning transmission. It was a decent engine for typical soccer dad type vehicles in the early OBD2 days.

I drove a ram 30 miles and back without knowing somone had rigged the breather into the heater core, there was antifreeze in the oil the whole time no knocks, still runs and drives to this day after crashing into a tree. You just gotta find the right dodge lol
This has been proven to be pretty hit and miss since the 40-50's when they used to use it til headers or exhaust manifold got cherry red. Manf. tolerances are far finer today, and aluminum and similar parts will get hot a lot quicker and score than the old iron stuff.
a shop i used to hang out in Mexico would do a swap of oil to ATF and have a customer drive it around a little before swapping to fresh oil and filter to clean out the engine. it worked for cleaning but i have no idea how hard it actually was on the engine. all the mechanics swore by this method but i wouldn't tell anyone to do it lol.
Wish they would have cut open the filter, and refilled it with oil to see how it ran, and if the oil light went out at idle again. It didn't look like there was any metal in the oil pan. Maybe the soap had enough lubricity to keep the metal parts from getting damaged?

I wonder if the steam off that stuff running through the pcv was giving the o2 sensor a bad reading especially since that’s a wideband 5v sensor on that car.
You should have run an oil pressure gage to see what product you put in was making and after all the stuff you've put in how much does it make now with regular oil in it. Did anything help it?
Wonder how it would have done on a longer test with a 50/50 mix of oil? Then you could have used it with some lubricity for a longer run hopefully and a surviving engine?
