    How wonderful to see that reupholstering is still done the “old fashion” way- using original stuffing etc . Thank you for this great series of videos.

      @@JAMiltonUpholstery Nice to see a craftswoman do this the old way, not blowing 4,000 pneumatic staples into anything that they see. Thanks.

    Can you tell me why you put on calico, and not just use the top fabric? If I just use foam and no horsehair, should I still use the calico layer? Thanks

      Hi Jessica,
      The Calico helps to keep the dust out of pad and prolong the life of the upholstery. Lining with calico gives a better finish to your work so we always tend to use the calico just before the fabric yes.
      Hope this helps

    I am trying to fold a thick denim fabric around a cushioned seat. Which corner system should I use? as this one doesn't work for me...thanks

      These two types of corners are the only ones needed for drop in seats. In fact, apart from minor variations, all types of seats are finished with either a round corner or a square corner. The process only varies slightly depending on whether the fabric finishes directly up to show wood or folds to the underside of the seat. Whichever method is used the success of any corner depends on making sure that enough fabric is cut away to allow it to sit smoothly. Cutting away can be scary because you have to cut in really tight, so cut off a little at a time. If you have a fabric that frays try smearing a little Bostic clear glue on the back of the fabric in the area to be cut, before you cut it. Joan M

    Instead of using hair, can you use foam instead?

    What size tacks do you use for the calico and top fabric?

    • @JAMiltonUpholstery
      @JAMiltonUpholstery  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi,
      We tend to use a 3/8 inch (10mm) Fine upholstery tack for calico and top fabric.
