It is a big problem. It's as if having a special someone is a crime. And if you're introducing that someone to your parents,most parents look for the caste and religion before the personality. Maybe your parents are not like that but that doesn't mean that no parents are like that. My parents are good too and I doubt they will discriminate based on caste and relegion, but more than 99% of the parents do.
