As my fav role is Janitor lemme give a few more tips: If you put on the biohazard suit - you can put the trashbag in your suit attachment slot If you want to play Janitor right - ignore everything in this video: - (exception) replace the lights because assistants broke em - find the maintenance robotics room - get proxy sensors and buckets (preferably from fabricators and maintenance exploration) - make cleanbots (remember to unlock and set all their options on ESPECIALLY patrol station (remember to lock em)) - pimp out your new robotics room - invite the other janitors over to show off - make more cleanbots (remember to sell one to the cook for around 150 cred) - tell the ai to set the bastard who keeps destroying your cleanbots as wanted - replace the robotics department because they've been robusted - make ripleys for yourself and your jani-bros - replace sec because they got robusted - grab clean granades - if against blood cult - check apcs if against clock cult

You can also fill buckets and your cart with space cleaner rather than water, so you can use the mop without making the floor slippery. The spray bottle is still faster, but I kinda' like doing it with a mop instead. Even if you just want to use the bottle, you can fill a bucket with cleaner and take it with you (make sure you put a lid on it so it doesn't spill when something inevitably knocks you over) so you can refill on the fly without having to go back to the closet. Making the floor slippery is a great way to get yourself murdered early, but I do like bringing a fully-loaded janicart with me because the more (non-obnoxious) elements for potential chaos in SS13 the better. If somebody snags it that's just more fun for the round.
The holographic sign projector can only display about 5 signs or something at a time. You (or someone, doesn't matter) will have to damage them and make them disappear to be able to place more. There should really be a timer on it for as long as a water spill lasts so that it automatically disappears by the time the wet floor dries up, but maybe someone will eventually cry to the admins for this feature. You don't have to remove broken lights, just click on them while holding the Light Replacer tool and it will replace it, and the broken light will be on the ground. You can fill up your Light Replacer using regular glass, broken glass shards, or broken light tubes/bulbs. If you have a detective actually doing their job (shocker) instead of being useless or going around shooting people with his OP revolver (so, being useless), don't mess with dead bodies. Don't even clean up the blood or bloody footprints until a competent detective scans everything he needs to scan. Once he's done, go ask a doctor to bag the body (or take it to cloning/hydroponics/robotics, preferably) and you can clean up any gibs/limbs left behind with the trash bag. Just remember that a LIVE person with dismembered limbs IS STILL ABLE to have them reattached in surgery. If you're not tight on time and there's nothing urgent going on, use the soap bar to clean up messes rather than the mop and water bucket. The soap bar will clean up a mess without making the floor slippery (ironic considering it's soap) and people will not try to have your head on a spear for making them slip. The soap bar takes slightly longer to clean than a mop, but who cares, it's not like your time matters since you're the janitor. Just absolutely make sure nobody steals the soap, otherwise you're gonna get blamed for shit you didn't do, as it's a very robust tool for traitor to run away from shitcurity.

every server i join i start on the arrival bay or something. so doesnt matter what ocupation i choose i dont even know where to go or what to do like for example you are showing the janitor and i dont even know how to get to that room so GG. the onlything i know how to do is bashin people with fire extiguisers until they die but i got banned for that so gg
Go to the head of personel's desk and ask for a job assignment(or door access) to a role you want to learn then see if you can learn it on your own if it's easy or ask someone to show you the ropes.
My first game as a janitor i was riding around on my cart useing my presser washer to clean up the station. Than the lawer threw a person in the path of my cart took my keys and beat me up. Than drove off, and sec couldn't help me because of the food riots.

Extremely robust play
My first game I played as an AI and got into a spat with both security and the traitor lizard supremacists.
Watched as the place blew up and everyone was getting killed in surgery while security lambasted me.
