That was super nice of you calling the other driver a dummy and then judging him bases on who he drives for.
    You're the future of trucking!

Nice video. My first trainer made me back into a parking space every time we stopped, no pull-thrus. He said do this every time you stop your first year and you will have the skill and confidence to do it the rest of your life. You can't get batter at backing by never backing or backing only once a day at a customer.

    • @7ann7seven13
      @7ann7seven13 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Yeah, my Trainer was patient and he loved to watch me figure out the wheel. Getting your truck in the right 90 degree angle first and make sure the rear wheels of trailer are ON THE Yellow line that you can SEE. Then , back up, so you don't have to worry about the trailer and space on your blind side, blind side is very easy if you do it that way. You can always slide that trailer down the line too close to the trailer out of your drivers window........ THEN pull up and get it all right, but as you get better, just get er in the pocket first , worry later about centering your trailer, ya know?

So i agree with you 99 percent. What i would do different is leave the landing gear off the ground a 1/4 inch, dump your bags to set it on the ground and slowly pull out stopping to make sure the landing gear is good. Being a local driver doing multiple drops a day, nothing pisses me off more than having to get out of my truck to raise the landing gear on a loaded trailer with a shitty crank because its not even close to sitting on my fifth wheel.

What’s so funny is that the experts act like their shit don’t stink and they’ve been driving perfect since day one. They’re the Jesus Christ’s of trucking and think they’re superior to everyone else. This lady did her best job she may have went out a little too far when she did a serpentine but she’s going to learn. Great job, practice makes perfect!

Excellent video. I deliver for Wally World-grocery side-and had 3 flat tires on a loaded trailer. Fortunately, I was at the distribution center and able to have on-site maintenance fix. However, early in my civilian, trucking career I did the ole’ tap-tap thing with the tires. Now, I look as well as listen. Any questions, I get my manually calibrated, tire pressure gauge, with adjusting screw to check the tire pressure.
I went through my company’s 18 day orientation program, but they didn’t provide an example of low tire pressure by doing the tap-tap test. Just like they don’t teach you how to back a rig between 2 TRACTORS with trailers.
    Thanks for your TH-cam Channel.

I will say PRIME in Missouri seems pretty good, I use to deliver parts to their Springfield depot and the trainers/drivers were always grade A personalities. I've been contemplating getting my CDL and heading over there for my 1-2 year pound of flesh before finding something local/regional.
Also 24:15 a neat trick....drive the tire over a ratchet strap, and ratchet the tire till the bead is flush with the rim and then air the tire.....it has saved me countless times on many vehicles and would work the same on a semi tire I wager.

Buy Colloidal Silver water at Vitamin Shoppe. It's only a little bit in a spray bottle you need that kills all Viruses and all Bacteria. My doctor told me to get it, and now we all make our own , with our own kits. Watch TH-cam video to see how to make your own, it's an INEXACT science. You saturate baby wipes with your own ( pennies on a dollar) you make at home. Take baby wipes with you everywhere and keep them in the dark. No need to refrigerate your bottles you make or buy of Colloidal Silver.
If you get a Rhino Virus, a cold, snort the stuff up your nose, sinuses and let it roll down your throat. It kills the cold virus in minutes.
They put Colloidal sliver in newborns eyes to kill any bacteria or Viruses, and they put it in Surgical bandages because no germs can grow in it's presence......... such a necessary thing for all people to keep in their purse and on the truck .
Buy those blue or brown glass spray bottles ..........about a 2 oz. bottle and when you go home load up with new saturated baby wipes and refill your little spray bottle.
It even will kill a lung infection if you take a deep breath while you puff a spray of it into your mouth while inhaling air into your lungs. You will cough for a couple of seconds , but then your lungs are all cleared up.

@B O B Spelled backwards I think he is talking about a trailer dropped way low on the dollies, so that the tractor cannot get under them when hooking up. I try to find the yard jockey to help with lifting up the trailer so that I can crack down the dollies so that I can get in under the truck easier. If nothing at all, you might want to drop your air bags to get under the trailer.

That was fantastic! You both are great! Can the driver see the landing gear from the driver's seat? If not, how do you judge when they are on the concrete? Also, when backing up to a trailer to engage the 5th wheel, first how do you know you are centered on the trailer and how do you know whether you are far enough under the trailer to reach the 5th wheel? I'd like to go to CDL school, but I don't think they'd take a 68-year-old woman!! Thanks and I look forward to any other videos you show.

You line up the outside of your truck Wheels with the outside edge of the trailer and the Kingpin will almost always be centered on the 5th wheel. If you're a little off, the opening of the fifth wheel is designed to feed the Kingpin into the center to be locked in place.

Haha our company's mechanic once changed my airlines into some new long ones but didn't fasten it properly. They told me to go get the load first then they'll fasten them. Being the rookie I am I was like "ok". Sure enough, finally hooked onto my trailer, I pull out the parking and only 10 ft after pulling forward, the long cables get tangled in my drives and they tear up. I wasn't moving that fast since I just pulled out but the trailer's brakes kick on and pulled my truck to a hard stop lol

Refer to as Charging the system
Means your supplying the air tank with air - By pushing in the Red Valve ( TPV) Trailer Protection Valve.

She needs to be whippin' that landing gear up and down herself. 'Quick like a bunny.' That'll learn one faster than anything. Don't forget which way your going though . . I pulled the handle ONE time pickin' up, on a twelve trailer day. No disaster, caught myself, and almost peed laughing .. I work WAY too hard!

Swift isnt a bad company. I worked for them and its annoying when people make fun of them. They have more trucks on the road than any other company, and they treat their employees good.

I got hungup in college point queens anout 21 years ago . It was hell but the worst of it my address was a drop shipper and it took me hours to find a place to park so i could walk around to identify the location under another name. NO GPS NO PHONE . . It took 8 hours to accomplish a 3 hour job
