My Husband just called me a NERD for watching this. I have been an Earle fan for many years..... discovered Justin his first Album. Probably saw him play with the Dukes. I have always loved Steve's Mandolin playing. One of the first times I saw him was in NYC at the Guinness Festival, sandwiched between John Prine & Shane McGowan. He was solo and played Mandolin alot! It was Heaven....we've met a couple times and he was lovely. I loved Justin too, different yet similar. I have friends in Recovery who knew JTE. There are a lot of folks gutted by this 💔💜🐦
@@jamesbishop3898 Why leave that comment? Is your life that bad you need the attention? Does making others feel like shit make you feel better about yourself? If it does ask yourself why. Some seriously broken wiring going on in your head. Hope you find peace.
@@joshski85Because that's what Townes told Steve Earle when Earle was battling heroin addiction. You know, the person Justin is named after. You know, the son of a heroin addict who was friends with heroin addicts. Good job on being there for your son, Steve, or being in his life at all. That's more than the equivalent of telling an addict simply to use clean needles and you'll be fine. Miss me with that righteous indignation.
@@jamesbishop3898 Again, what do you get out of this? You got massive issues were coming online a judging complete strangers and leaving comments about their dead children seems like a good idea. Ironic then that you'd use the phrase "righteous indignation."
Steve - In the wee hours this morning I discovered from the Recording King website that your son had passed. I burst into tears as if I knew the people involved in this tragedy, but I am a rank stranger to you and your family. The closest we have ever come is that I was the handsome guy in about row 14 at the show you played in Seattle last August. I didn't get a chance to personally thank you for a great night of music, so instead I bought a Galway Girl t-shirt. I was the XX-large. I put that t-shirt on this morning since it seemed the the only thing I could do to recognize the sorrow this news caused me. Spent most of the day playing mandolin. I am a stranger to you, but you are not a stranger to me. Through your music and those things you do that show the world your heart I feel like I kinda know you. I've followed your career and sometimes struggles, and rooted hard for you to beat them....or at least outlast them....in part because I was fighting a similar fight against some of the same demons. Always happy to see others get in the lifeboat. I became aware of Justin only recently, and discovered that he was in recovery. I rejoiced in the thought that the example us fathers set might short-circuit our sons' needs to experience the full pain and consequences their addictions have provisioned for them. My son tonight is sleeping in a car somewhere in Seattle. I hope he'll use his talents to unhook from his chemical enemies before he runs out of opportunity to do so. Settled down to eat dinner and watch some TH-cam, and in that creepy way our internet overlords seem to know how to do, this video popped up. Thanks for playing "Galway Girl". Did I mention I have the t-shirt? Anyway, I have to wash it now - it has Pad Thai and tears all down the front. Brother, my heart aches too.
im twice as handsome as this man and i second his entire statement. thankyou for all the beutiful music, from all your family. thankyou for the memories of Townes.
Steve, My heart breaks for you. I remember you talking about your son at the Park West in Chicago in the early days. A smile just came over your face that was so sweet. Life is hard. Sometimes it is just minute by minute.
All peace to you and yours. The music you have made has gotten me through my own recent losses. I wish with all my heart I could offer anything meaningful in return.
I had the pleasure of seeing you and Justin last fall in Nashville at A Night for Kelley Looney. The heart and soul that Justin put into his few minutes of stories and songs absolutely floored me. He became one of my favorite performers of all time that night. The inspiration the two of you have had on so many is absolutely immeasurable. I only wished I'd delved into Justin's talents sooner. There are people out there who're just discovering Justin this week, and by extension you yourself. Their lives, like mine, will be forever changed for the better because of that. You and your family have been in all of our hearts, thoughts, and prayers the last several days and will be in the days and weeks to come. Much love.
I've listened to Steve for years. I've probably heard everything he's ever put out 30 times, at least. I've seen Steve live 3 times (so far). I listened to JTE and enjoyed it immensely but I didn't dive into it. I have been since I heard that he'd passed and I'm kicking myself in the ass for not having done it before. A true talent and taken from us too soon.
Thank You! Thanks for having the courage to connect with your fans, and the folks who love and value you so very much, and doing it with such enthusiasm, strength and Grace. Thanks for allowing us to grieve with you. I love you and your family so much, and for me, personally, just those few minutes of watching you hold it together, gave me so much strength and hope, We will get through this time together, as friends, family and fans... We’re all Copperheads. From Sea to shining Sea, we send our love to Nashville, to be with The Earle’s. I love you, Buddy.
If I could have giving a thousandth of what you didn't share I would say thanks, you have giving so much to so many that our Thank You can never stop coming in to you and say enough Steve you have us a life time of a chance to learn a be somebody

So so sorry for your loss. I love you and have followed you for 30 years. I listen to your music everyday actually your music is about the only music I listen to except some John Prine. But you are my hero. I love every song you've ever done. I pray for peace in your heart. Love you.
So sorry to hear the sad news. My deepest condolences. I got the chance to see Justin perform at “Hardly Strictly” & opening up for John Prine in Santa Rosa,CA several years ago. He certainly had his own unique sound & style apart from your own. The world is a poorer place without him.
Steve, I feel very fortunate I was able to see Justin & you back in August 2015 at the Interstellar Rodeo in Winnipeg. I remember you stood by the side of the stage & watched Justin & his band perform. I know this past year has been dreadful with the loss of Kelley Looney and now Justin. When times are better, I'll be there like many of your loyal fans to see you & The Dukes when you tour the Ghosts of West Virginia album. My sincere condolences to you, your family, and Justin's family. RIP Justin Townes Earle

May you find peace in whatever healthy way you need to heal. Best wishes from very close to home. Marion isn’t far from Schertz.
Love the mandolin. Galway Girl is a favourite song of mine. So is Copperhead Road. Love the use of the mandolin in it. Copperhead Road will be played when l leave this world.
