I do all my own work too. I try to have a factory manual for each bike I own.

If you're capable DIY is always the best choice. That being said...some people should never touch a wrench 😅

I made a rule for myself, if it's taken apart or I hear " I seen it online" I won't mess with it..almost always more trouble then it's worth.
I've seen some just stupid things people tried to fix.

Before buying the bike, I buy the owners manual.
Once it leaves the dealer, they never get their damn mits on it again.
