Sara, you are becoming a natural in front of the camera. This was wonderful to watch. You also did such a beautiful job on those tables clothes for Stephanie. Such satisfying corners ❤
I had no idea what encaustic art was. Part way thru the demo I dashed to Google and got to understand what was going to happen and then came back to the demo. I love the technique. The idea of building up layers to provide a sort of 3D effect would be amazing. Do please show some of Elka’s bigger projects and what can be done. All I saw on Google was ancient examples. This fascinates me. It interests me as there’s a bit of image manipulation in that to have a true representation you need to reverse the image to get the single layer image. But if you are doing a multi layered project you will need to crop the image appropriately to give an accurate representation of the subject, cutting foreground, midground and background, and then doing the art work in reverse order ie back, mid and then foreground to get the perspective right. I’m really fascinated in this technique. I also wonder how big this technique could go and could it be done on stretched canvases with thin pours of wax, rather than thick pours on wood. I can see there would be a tendency to crack but that could be made to be intentional with different coloured wax layers filling the cracks with the next part of the image. Sorry my mind is racing and I can see so much fun and beauty in this technique. I just wish I didn’t live on the other side of the world and being disabled won’t make it easy to attend a workshop. It’s such a frustration but I loved every minute of this vlog and loved the playful water fight! You both are a delight. Love from Neil in Australia 🇦🇺
PS It just occurred to me this could really lend itself to spooky gothic art. The different layers could be of increasing transparency as though looking thru a light mist in a grave yard. Sorry, my mind is in SuperDrive. Forgive the long comment
Nice editing/soundtrack on the finale there, Steve! Bit of a messy technique, encaustic ... but fun to try new stuff. Maybe find a local painter for a class, next? You know plenty of them ...
Thank you for sharing, what a wonderful video, will have to explore Google for further information. Really loving your vlogs Sarah and Stephen, your chateau is enchanting and I look forward to seeing future renovations. Best wishes from Tasmania, Australia 🇦🇺
Very good and interesting, never seen this done before so was new to me... Well done.. Might give at a try if I can source everything here in Bulgaria.. Xx
I loved both tiles and so you both win! Thanks for showing us this technique ❤️. As winter is coming, have you a coffee machine in the bedroom yet? To go with your chairs? Regards from Susan at Hobart.
I’m sure this was loads of fun. Looks like everyone learned a lot and got new skills but it didn’t translate well on the video. Sometimes the sound was not great or it was easy to see what exactly was going on.
💕You need to make a arts & crafts room in one of your outdoor buildings💕
So fun, and beautiful! What a lovely way to showcase some gorgeous photos!

What was the ratio of encaustic to wax?
Good job girl's but you need a lot of patience one thing my wife don't have much of lol
🥰🇨🇦
I this not more about ordered technique than actual creative artistic talent, like the ability to sketch and paint ?
Completely different to the encaustic art I have done in the past.
There are many techniques to experiment with in encaustic, as I am learning from Elske. ;)
