I want to see y'all pull some 1/4 Oz. Nuggets? You've given me the fever. Lol. I really enjoy watching your videos I wish that I had a little bit of the knowledge when I lived in North Carolina that I've picked up watching your videos. I used to take my brother in law to a place out there it was a little mini river that they would dig buckets of sand and rocks from the river and put it on the bank and then you go get a 5 gallon bucket or however many you wanted and they charged you 5.00 dollars a bucket then you take them to the vibrating table and put it on the table and let it wash out and clean it. You'd take your little brush and as the table would vibrate and the water running through it, it would separate the gold from the sand and gravel then just put it in your bottle and take it with you. I never did it but I watched my brother in law sit there and go through many of buckets while I drank beer and called him dumbass. He did get a few little Nuggets but mainly real fine stuff. But watching y'all I used to go fishing alot out there way back in the mountains where nobody else would go and I've seen so many places that I would've been looking for gold instead of fishing because the places I've been alot of them looked way better than some of the places I've seen y'all at. It's about 9 hours from where I live now but I am considering taking a mini vacation and I could stay at my nieces house and go check out some of these places I'm talking about. One of them is probably about 8 or 10 miles from that place that sells the buckets of materials you pan. And on top of Spruce Pine mountain there are 2 of the rivers, large creeks which they consider rivers out there are below Spruce Pine and its a place they have gem mines and old gold mines up above the 2 rivers I fished in. So what I'm thinking gems and gold mines in Spruce Pine my fishing rivers are below so the chances of finding something in the rivers are pretty good. Jim said they used to pan in the one well hell the other one runs directly from the side of the mountain above. Back then I was in my 30s and drank alot of beer and never thought about gold I was more interested in those big rainbow trout I was getting mounted on my wall. But after watching y'all I am really thinking about it hard. How about leaving me a message and tell what you think? And then Linville Falls isn't to far away from there either.

Great gold, that’s some nice looking ground you guys are working. I took a small Excavator down on our claim and moved about 10 yards of gravel and a bunch of boulders that were about four feet tall and cemented to the bedrock. The detector was going off so much it was hard to find all the targets lol best day I’ve ever had mining! Good luck out there, and awesome video!

I'm thinking about getting a detector, provided the Mrs. signs off on it for me .
A few questions if I may. In terms of square footage approximately:
1. How much ground would you say you cover before you decide to detect?
2. How much ground do you end up covering with the detector before you decide to dig?
3. How many holes do you dig before 1 produces any amount of gold?

I start detecting when something catches my eye. If the gravel looks good I will detect every spot that can hold a piece of gold. I dig every target. Some days you find no gold, some days you do great, you dig quite a few targets ( 10 to 20) to each piece of gold on a normal day.

I just spent the last 3 months on a prospecting adventure through 10 states and had so much fun. I found gold everywhere I went thanks to you and Pauly, Chris Bogus, Dan Hurd, Jeff Williams plus others. Someday I hope to find some bedrock like this. Part of my trip was through the Sierra mountains but I was in a motor home so back roads were off the list. Take care.

Thanks! I’ve been looking at mine lab detectors and it’s great that you are using the SDC. I’m a visual learner with detecting experience in Canada and Australia. I bought a Minelab to have with me in Australia. I learned how to use it there. The Australians did not have better machines than me but they all had wide knowledge of all the sounds their machine made and until I learned my machine they were teaching. Yes, I eventually found gold and it wasn’t that difficult even in areas that had been pounded for years. It’ is great to watch an experienced hand work with a machine that is new to him.

Thanks 2 toes..... I'm really happy to report that I found my first nuggets last week... lots of flower and really flat.. when panning, they want to surf right out of the pan.... That 22 pill you found looks like a 22wcf. If you measure its diameter and it is .228”, it is a 22wcf, the granddaddy of the 22 hornet.

Could you possibly do a video on dredge tailings? There are some near me but I'm not finding many videos on them and am interested in how they are in the field. I'm mostly finding forum posts on them but videos allow for much more understanding than forum posts do.
