  • 1/48 Tamiya Republic P-47D Thunderbolt "Razorback"
    The P-47 was the first single-seated fighter to be equipped with a supercharger paired with a 2000hp engine, allowing it to fly at the same very high altitude as bombers. The P-47 was armed with eight 12.7mm machineguns. With the P-51 Mustang, the Thunderbolt constituted the main fighters of the US Army Air Force. This is the representation of P-47D early production that was nicknamed "razorback" because of the shape of its upper fuselage behind the cockpit. The P-47D was a high-speed, high-altitude capable fighter and escorted the allied bombers that were conducting raids over Germany. Its 1ton payload and its robustness made the Thunderbolt the perfect aircraft for ground attacking missions...
    Paints used: Alclad II, Aluminium, White Aluminium, Polished Aluminium, Magnesium, Dark Aluminium. Tamiya Xf-1, Xf-4, Xf-5, Xf-62, Gloss and semi gloss X-22 (with flat base), GSI: H58, S. Plate Silver, Neutral gray...
    Airbrush: Sparmax SP-35, for more details please visit:

    Dusan, You are a MASTER scale modeler! You remind me of my father who built and filled my childhood ceiling with over 40 aircraft as highly detailed as yours. I was only about 4 when I truly started to understand what he was doing. It was years later that I realized how much work he actually put into them. I did the same for my son when he was about 8, and he is a very good modeler today at 23yrs. I just retired and am returning to this hobby I love so much. Your video not only inspired me, but taught me some new techniques. Thank you so much. I would love to see you build a spacecraft like Apollo Command module or lunar Lander, but I know you do aircraft. Just a thought. Again thanks, your skills are fantastic!!!!

    EXCELLENT P-47! This being my favorite A/C and model, I must say yours came out fantastic. I'm finishing up on a couple of the "M" versions then going to build all of Maj. Robert S. Johnson's five he flew during the war.{all Razorbacks}. Including the "C" version which I picked up the Loon conversion cowling kit. Once again excellent work, congrats! - Bob

    I rarely comment on TH-cam videos, but this time I must. I've recently returned to scale modelling after a 15+ year absence. Consequently, I have a lot to learn and re-learn. But I have to say that this particular video, to me, is invaluable! The collection of techniques you've performed and documented here (in one short video!) far surpasses everything I have thus far 'liked'. The end result is spectacular, in my opinion! Thank you so much!

    I'm curious about why, when you added the small exhaust port at around 3 minutes, you applied the glue to the outside instead of the inside - I see a lot of guys online doing that - applying glue, albeit tiny amounts, to the outside of a model instead of the inside, when there's a risk of crazing the plastic if they mess up. Me, my hands aren't that steady all the time, so this is how I think - but is there a specific reason for doing it that way?

    • @ScaleModelAircraft
      @ScaleModelAircraft  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +MrAlumni72 Yes, You can use the regular glue inside, but with extra thin cement You dont have problems accessing hard to reach areas ( joining fuselage and wing halves together) and this is a First rate adhesive and viscosity allows you to take advantage of capillary action, it dries quickly and does not destroy surface detail at all! All the best! Dusan.

    • @MrAlumni72
      @MrAlumni72 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +ScaleModelAircraft Thanks for the helpful information! I haven't built a kit since the late 80s - early 90s and I'm trying to get caught up on what's new before I start up again. These kits now are so expensive I'm afraid of messing up and wasting all that money.

  • @namvet6971

    Why did you spray model with clear first, before applying the silver? Were you doing that instead of a colored primer? Curious....

    This is a better question for aerodynamics -related videos, but is there a reason they used welding on tanks to save weight but not on aircraft panels? They always talk about how much effort they went to flush rivet and whatnot to give better laminar airflow etc .. why did they not weld panels on/down?

    Great work, inspirational for all of us. I hope one day to reach such result.
    One thing I noticed is your airbrushing technique, flawless! What is the pressure you use in your compressor? I guess it is very low to be able to have such control of the flow.
    All the best and keep on bringing these wonderful videos!

    • @ScaleModelAircraft
      @ScaleModelAircraft  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank You Carlos, I really dont look at the air pressure I am looking all the time at proper viscosity of the paint, If the mixture of the paint is too thick to flow through airbrush smooth, I increase air pressure or add more thinner. (maby around 15psi when using thinned acrylics) All the best! Dusan.

Odpada asi problem ked sa nanesie lep na jednu polovicku a az potom sa polky pritlacia k sebe. Zvykne sa vytlacit lep zo spoja a treba ho zbrusovat.
