I used an Orthworm I had for a few tera raids and it worked great. Here’s the build I used: Orthworm- Level: 100 Ability: Earth Eater Nature: Impish (+Def, -Sp Atk) Tera Type: Stellar (Fighting can work too, but I use Stellar for the extra defense.) EV spread: 252 HP, 252 Def, and 4 Sp Def Item: Shell Bell Moves: -Body Press (Maxed) -Iron Defense -Iron Head -Protect Honestly, a pretty self explanatory build. The old reliable “Iron Press” set. Iron Head is there to build up your Tera Orb charge, and Protect is for when Dragonite resets your stats and suppress Orthworm’s ability. (I learned that the hard way…) I’m sure this build can be improved, and there are better Pokémon to use for this raid, but this is what I used. Hope this helps someone get their Dragonite the Unrivaled.
I did very similar; swapped out Iron Head for Mud Slap in the early game. Used Mud Slap to build Tera/stall until after Stats are reset and I’m up to +6, then Tera Fighting to clear. Took 2 tries though. I clicked Tera and immediately got Crit by Extremespeed 😵💫

Just a note for Pokemon using Corviknight, I've found more successes using Stellar Tera since you are already the perfect type to fight Dragonite (flying to avoid earthquake, steel to resist extremespeed and dragon moves). I also run Rock Smash instead of Screech so you can get defense drops once the shield goes up. Hope this helps!
A tactic I've seen on Discord is Flutter Mane holding an Air Balloon. As long as the Thunder and Hurricane uses don't hit you (Soft reset if they do) then Dragonite just cannot hit you. The moveset is Moonblast, Calm Mind, Stored power and a filler move with the Air Balloon item. You reset if Hurricane or Thunder target you but if it doesn't, just Moonblast until, it does the stat wipe, then max out on calm minds, then go tera and use Stored Power until you win
I'd recommend Sunny Day as the 4th move. You use it on Turn 1 to drop the accuracy of the incoming Thunder from guaranteed hit to 50%, so even if you get targeted, chances are good that it'll miss. It'll also gives a boost if you use it before starting with the Stored Powers
I don't know how many times I've been hit by the Hurricane, but it feels a little over 100% of the time. Haven't even gotten to the Thunder, I'm basically attacked every single time making this strat impossible.

Hammerlocke and Motostoke were well done, but places like Ballonlea and Spikemuth were full of untapped potential. Wyndon and Postwick deserved better. I usually forget that Wedgehurst isnt Postwick. I forgot Hulbury existed. I did like Circhester.
Another fun option: Tera fighting Contrary Malamar w/ Leppa Berry. 252att/252def. Skill Swap, Reflect, Superpower (3 PPup). Skill swap out of the gates, then sac yourself as quickly as possible to get contrary back, but right before the sac set reflect. Once you come back in, use superpower. Do an attack cheer at +4/+4, then finish with more superpower. This build WANTS to take the hurricane or the thunder. Not the fastest, but a different flavor to what else is out there.
Used a farigiraf (armor tail) to deal with the extreme speed, foul play for dragon dance attack boosts, reflect/light screen, and sunny day so that hurricane and thunder hits aren't guaranteed hits. It's generally quite helpful
The problem is that when the shield comes up taunt stops working. It then spams dragon dance and you lose. You need three pokemon that are all spamming chilling water and putting up reflect.
@@josejuncal2882yeah that was a strategy against the tornupto with farigiraf. So you are immun to all his attacks. But this only works if he has no shield.
I just posted my Malamar build. Unfortunately, the AI is good enough to not Dragon Dance after the skill swap, but it effectively neutralizes it. The strat requires you to sac yourself, which is hindered by teammates that like to heal you so keep an eye out for Gardevoir. And an unlucky crit after setting up is really bad.
I have only had the last week or so free from hunting the Shiny Gimmighoul due to thankfully finding 2 I'm willing to believe legitimate raids of them due to them NOT having 6 perfect IVs and, just this morning (just a little after 12am), I finally got several shiny Comfey, 1 big, 1 small and 1 marked, all from the same outbreak, on the same sandwich, with my marked one appearing literally before the outbreak dispersed. So, I'm now very much looking forward to this new outbreak, especially the Hisuian Sliggoo. Was honestly worried initially I'd have to risk missing them to continue hunting for shiny Gimmighoul and Comfey. The fact I solved the latter problem literally hours before the new event began is hilarious
You're the reason I was looking for Turbo controllers, back I wanna say during the Mightiest Mark Empoleon raids, and coincidentally, that also introduced me to the controller of my dreams, CandyCon. They have Turbo, Macro programming, and the face, d-pads, and joysticks are fully and easily customizible. Although they don't have adaptive vibrations or NFC compatibility, they are almost a direct upgrade from a Switch Pro Controller for around the same price as one. Love the content, and keep up the amazing work.
If fluttermane got a fighting move, it would be perfect. Especially with an air balloon and stellar tera type. You would have to be unlucky and get hit by one of the random extra moves to take any damage.
I had Levitate Bronzong with Protect and Psychic Terrain because that should in theory block Extreme Speed and force it to use Scale Shot to weaken itself BUT there was a raid where it still used it anyway (and I don't know why haha).
Struggling with Corviknight a little bit. It's inconsistent right now. Every Extremespeed is slightly different damage and my Shell Bell doesn't let me recover enough. Then after the second Taunt is over and Dragonite uses Dragon Dance again I'm toast. Not sure what I'm doing wrong 🙃 EDIT: Tried a run with Orthworm, defeated Dragonite on the first try. Always appreciate the comment section.
I always enjoy taking these out myself, then going to see what others came up with to take it out. Corvinknight looks good. The orthworm strat looks fun too. As for me, I used terra-ghost Zamazenta / Shell Bell / Impish / 252 HP & DEF -- Body Press/Iron Defense -- Turn 1 Iron defense, next 3 turns body press. Time it right, and the shields should go up and stats should be reset right around then. Then terra to ghost to avoid extreme speed and iron defense back to + 6. It will probably drop its own defense with scale shot once so body press should be doing enough to heal you. I had Arboliva with me too so that helped.
Stellar Malamar with contrary ability swap it onto dragonite then get yourself k.oed, after it resets your stats at 80% timer health wait until your contrary ability is back and then superpower/tera blast

Pokemon needs to try and increase the longevity of their games.... once you beat the game and DLC thats pretty much it. Catch legendaries then battle online... I wish pokemon had more to it

Maybe also some advice if people are struggling: I had the Austin NPC with me (how fitting) with Arcanine, who spammed Flamethrower to burn Dragonite, lowering his attack.
This is almost the corviknight I have already built just hanging out, probably HP instead of SpDef and some other skill besides taunt, but....looking forward to seeing how she does tomorrow when I have time to check it out!
I thought of an idea to solo it just to see if it works. I used Flutter Mane w/ Air Balloon and the Stellar Tera Type - My moves were Moonblast, Calm Mind, and Stored Power... And I was laughing because Dragonite was helpless and wasn't able to hit Flutter Mane at all and after using +6 Sp. Atk / +6 Sp. Def Calm Minds, I did heavy damage to Dragonite.
this legit works really well as long as you avoid being hit with hurricane and thunder early on, you can bring sunny day as well for protosynthesis and maybe a lucky thunder miss
It does. It only took me two tries to do Dragonite solo. When you do online raids with Flutter Mane, it's a nightmare because all of your allies faint causing the timer to deplete fast. What I like about it is that the Thunder and Hurricane take place near the beginning of the raid so if you do get hit by either, you can run and go back into the raid pretty quick.

I’m late as hell, I deadass forgot about the raid. This video was fun to watch, but the build I used was so much fun. Metagross-lvl 100 Max def and some hp Leftovers Reflect Magnet Rise to avoid the earthquakes. Iron Defense Body Press Just finished this run and I got hella lucky, Dragonite didn’t use dragon dance at all. And once I was built up, bro died in 2 hits.
Air Balloon Flutter Mane w/ Stellar Tera If you aren't hit by the Hurricane or Thunder in the beginning, you are completely immune to all Dragonite's attacks
Thats not a bad raid. My best one was a Vaporeon where i ended uo getting 2 of every herba mystica. I spit my drink out and started coughing and when my wife was confused i showed her and she spit her drink all over me.
here's another Strat only catch is set up takes time we use Quagsire 252 HP 252 Def impish nature Ability: Unaware Item: Shell bell protect drain punch body press curse step 1: 3 drain punches (You can do this til he resets step 2: after reset protect step 3: 6 curses step 4: Body press away til you win use drain punch if you need hp of course this works but it's time consuming just heads up not my Strat saw this in a Pokemon group on FB
Turn 1 2 3 - EQ for terra Fairy terra makes you immune to scale shot and eq Heals you making you immune unless you mess up somehow? Turn 4+ - coil until maxed out then body press for win
Just in case it hasn't been said yet, if you're worried about a shiny beldum suddenly thanosing itself in front of you, Golduck has the ability damp, and can learn skill swap and outspeeds beldum. Lead with that, then go to your favourite false swiper/sleeper, and as long as it doesn't struggle itself you're basically home free. (I have since looked up the learnset of Beldum and realised that all it does is tackle. In fact, it hasn't learned a self-damaging move via level-up for two generations. Yay.)
I feel bad for not keeping up with the events... sadly, after the Mewtwo fiasco I lost a lot of my drive to keep playing, but I might jump in on this one.
Would the following starts be effective against this dragonite? Farigiraf (Armor tail to stop extreme speed. Does it protect other Pokémon in the raid?) Stellar Malamar (skill swap contrary and die or do I just keep using superpower/stellar tera blast) Psychic Terrain (to stop priority) Drifblim? (Can only hit you with Draco Meteor and Scale Shot)
So, this is an idea I had while watching it. But, what if first turn of the Tera Raid, with a Malamar, you Switcheroo a Choice Scarf or Choice Specs the Dragonite? Or as someone else here recommended, just Skill Swap I think the Switcheroo might be better, because then you can keep Contrary and use Super Power during the battle. Never mind, do not try this strategy, Switcheroo does not work on Raid bosses.

I used Orthworm Fighting Tera Impish nature Shell Bell Earth Eater-Earthquake won’t hit and heals Moves: Iron Defense Mud Slap Body Press Use three Mud Slaps, Body Press until Shield comes up, three Iron Defense, Tera Body Press until he faints.
How about Stella Archruladon with max HP and Defense Ability stamina Item Assault Vest or Shell Bell As for the outbreaks, I found 4 shiny Bagon in one sandwich

I saw someone mention orthworm as a choice for this raid because of earth eater, then it uses the same strategy as this corvinight.
Might keep that in mind if this one doesn't do well for me

What I like about it is that the Thunder and Hurricane take place near the beginning of the raid so if you do get hit by either, you can run and go back into the raid pretty quick.
Finally I tried to breed H sligho and couldn't get it right so this helps out a lot

I found Groudon Body Press, iron Defense, getting drought so hurricane and thunder are both lowered accuracy, with will o wisp

Just finished this run and I got hella lucky, Dragonite didn’t use dragon dance at all. And once I was built up, bro died in 2 hits.
I had join a raid and turn 1 Skill Swap with my Malamar, everyone else Iron Defense and Body Press and or Drain Punch

If you aren't hit by the Hurricane or Thunder in the beginning, you are completely immune to all Dragonite's attacks
Thats not a bad raid. My best one was a Vaporeon where i ended uo getting 2 of every herba mystica. I spit my drink out and started coughing and when my wife was confused i showed her and she spit her drink all over me.
The only way this strat can fail is if dragonite crits you: which it did to me twice and once through a para -_-

Stellar Tera Archaludon with Body press, iron defense, focus energy holding a shell bell would probably give you good results.

Fairy terra makes you immune to scale shot and eq Heals you making you immune unless you mess up somehow?

Just in case it hasn't been said yet, if you're worried about a shiny beldum suddenly thanosing itself in front of you, Golduck has the ability damp, and can learn skill swap and outspeeds beldum. Lead with that, then go to your favourite false swiper/sleeper, and as long as it doesn't struggle itself you're basically home free. (I have since looked up the learnset of Beldum and realised that all it does is tackle. In fact, it hasn't learned a self-damaging move via level-up for two generations. Yay.)

Would the following starts be effective against this dragonite?
Farigiraf (Armor tail to stop extreme speed. Does it protect other Pokémon in the raid?)
Stellar Malamar (skill swap contrary and die or do I just keep using superpower/stellar tera blast)
Psychic Terrain (to stop priority)
Drifblim? (Can only hit you with Draco Meteor and Scale Shot)
Armory with sturdy works too in case you get crit

So, this is an idea I had while watching it. But, what if first turn of the Tera Raid, with a Malamar, you Switcheroo a Choice Scarf or Choice Specs the Dragonite?
Or as someone else here recommended, just Skill Swap
I think the Switcheroo might be better, because then you can keep Contrary and use Super Power during the battle.
Never mind, do not try this strategy, Switcheroo does not work on Raid bosses.
