I went hunting this past weekend and found Space Camp on DVD at a local Goodwill so I picked it up. I’ve never seen it but I remember it being mentioned on one of your lists so I wanted to check it out. I enjoy these types of videos as it gives me an idea of the market in other areas. Those prices seem out of the norm being so high. I can usually find DVDs for a couple bucks, blu-rays for $3-$6 and 4Ks for roughly $10-$15 in my area. Anyway, keep up the good work!
2nd and Charles is a pretty cool store, lots to look at, but they could definitely do better witht the pricing. Another good place to check out if you can is McKay's used books. Not sure how many of them exist but worth looking into.
Wow, you said you haven’t seen The Batman with Robert Pattinson? It’s an awesome film and that 4K disc is 🤌🏽 I knew that kid had chops when I first paid attention to him in David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis.” He also rocked in “The Rover.”
I got the boogie night dvd set you showed. Also I got the bluray too. Usually when I go bluray hunting, I go through every rack and usually find good movies. Two weeks ago, I picked up a few fox studios blurays. This week I'm hoping to get the Brewster Millions shout factory with slipcover. I saw that one on the fye shelf. I got the Order on bluray. Also I have the american pie and legend dvd set you showed. I think I have the legend arrow boxset too in storage.
The pricing and selection are about the same for the couple of 2nd & Charles in my area. I have found some good deals but I find you really have to dig for them.
My Criterion case of Benjamin Button is just like that and the ones I seen on ebay look like that too so I think when they first started blurays they just used standard cases
Chase! I saw that Legend Ultimate Edition at Goodwill today. It broke in my hand when I opened it. So I grabbed the booklet. I will gladly send it off to you. If you want to send back surprise pick, I'd love it.
It is amazing the high prices on some of the stuff. I have ran into it myself alot. In my mind, used DVDs should be no more than 3-5 bucks and Blu Rays 8-10 Dollars. There are so many DVDs out there that you almost can't give them away, lol.
Aaaaahhh. I would have gone crazy with impatience in that store! Lol Too much and too much of non interest I think. Maybe I would change my mind if we even had stores like that. Gotten too used to hunt online. Lol I actually have that same dvd of Legend. Such a cool film. I think one of the first to use prosphetics masks that looks much more alive than traditionel madks. Like a puzzle mask you glue on to the actor. Ridley Scott knows his trade. Also it was all filmed indoors in Pinewood Studios. Aftrr a break in filming the set had caught fire and the whole studio burned down more or less. Dramatic project. Love the look and feel of the movie. Enjoy your finds! Cheers!
I don't have a 2nd and Charles in my state, but I have heard they are high. We have a store called Bookmans and they are just as bad with their pricing. Every DVD or Blu is $6.00 and up, ditto with CDs. They even sell used DVD's that you can get in the Walmart $5 bin for $7.00 and up.
That looks like the Roswell store. I dropped off a bunch of books and movies there last year and they gave me next to nothing for them. I opted for the store credit and got a DVD copy of Cocoon but there really isn’t anything else there I wanted. It gives me a neck ache looking for a 4K title in all of that.
Those prices are insane, in the UK most 2nd hand retailers charge a buck at most for a DVD. A lot places do 4 or 5 for a buck, especially the thrift stores because they cant sell them. Cheers Chase the Ace
UK has moved on more from physical media and theres less collectors and buyers so businesses are more desperate. Some of these American stores are still greedy and trying to take advantage of people who dont know there are better deals elsewhere.
The fact that Spiderman and Star Wars are displayed facing out more than any other title worries me. It's all common and mainstream crap. I would be very disheartened by this place.
I think Burt Reynolds turned on Boogie Nights because he didn't ultimately win the Oscar. If you go back and watch the segment from that years Oscars he is visibly disappointed when they don't read off his name as winner. He went on a lot of shows that year promoting the film and more so his performance. He stated many times it was the best thing he had ever done. He more than likely knew it was his last shot at the award.
I came across that criterion Benjamin Button the other day at Disc Replay. I said the same thing, why is this in a blu ray case? I passed on it because of that reason. I said this must be a bootleg. The price wasn’t jacked up like they usually do when Disc Replay gets a boutique. So I was kind of hesitant. Couldn’t pull the trigger on it.
@AVAPopCulture oh cool, didn't know there was one in Roswell. If you come to the one in Kennesaw let me know. I live 10 minutes away and go frequently.
At least you 2NC is relatively organized. Mine is just a mess... almost no attempt to sort or alphabetize. You have literally search all the stacks to maybe find anything interesting.
. . Burt loved it until he didn't win the oscar, then he got some distaste for it. He did win the golden globe for it, but I think he was still miffed by not getting that oscar. Oh well. . . 🤪😎
There is no shame in still collecting DVD. You could have a blu-ray or 4KUHD actually look worse than the previous format. It all comes down to whether or not it is a fresh print from the original camera negatives / positives / interpositives. What I like most about old school DVD's is the artwork. Some of them retain the original '80's hand drawn poster artwork that you just don't get anymore with newer releases. People who have never watched the VHS documentary 'Rewind This' just don't understand why cover art matters. 'Hobo with a Shotgun' is an excellent example.
This store sucks. Terrible pricing. I shop at vintage stock/movie trading company and almost all their DVDs are $1-5, blu rays a bit higher but usually 4-13, usually no more than 6-8 for most non OOP common titles, and their 4k prices are actually not that good but there are some deals 15 and down sometimes, and if you go on a 2 for 1 sale you could get 3 4ks for 30 or less, some of their used 4ks are still like 20+, dont get much 4k from them.
@AVAPopCulture yeah I know which is unfortunate cause you'd love it. They have buy 2 get 1 sales multiple times a year including next month. Might finally post a haul video so you could see an example of what you can get. They're all over southern Midwest and a lot are close to each other, so on a sale day or weekend you can hit up multiple stores which is what I do, and you can search their inventory online so I go with different lists for different stores.
Hunting 4ks and BluRays on my furst ever trip to 2nd and charles! Pop that tape in, let's go do this!
It really takes the fun out of the hunt when everything is overpriced…

i bought that Bad times at El Royale because of you. Havent watch it yet though.
@Swampdogg82 I like it! Hope you do too! It is a bit different ...has a different feel to it
@@AVAPopCulture also found Identity. I love movies like Clue and Knives out and all the Hercule Poirot movies.
Bad Times at the El Royale is not very good.
Chase, you should head up to McKays in Chattanooga. You’ll need a whole day to go through there movie section. It’s pretty unreal!

Hey Chase, a few days ago the movie Zoltan Hound of Dracula in 4K arrived at my home and brother that movie is incredible!
Nice! Is a good looking 4k?
@@AVAPopCulture Yes it is a fabulous looking movie, I can't thank you enough for recommending the 4K's

Good will prices have gone up as well used blu ray are now 7.99 in my neck of the woods
@@chrissoto6331 3.99 here. I rarely pick any up there. Pawn shops in the country $1. :))

Used 4Ks are a real crap shoot. Even new tend to glitch. Blu-rays I’m with you.
I like that Legend DVD. That's one I have written down on my Fantasy genre films that I'm eventually going to get. 👍
Arrow has a Blu-ray of Legend but I’d bet there will be a 4k before long since I got the BR 😂
@stickywicked447 I'd only go as far as Blu-ray anyway. Thanks for letting me know. 👍
They claim they can't do a 4k because of some of the elements but they said the same thing about Lifeforce directors cut lol

Chase, I just bought the Blu-ray of Legend from Arrow and I used your 5 dollar off code. Thanks. Let me know if you get a notice showing it was used.
A movie museum :D
A dvd museum for sure!

I sell 4ks if i get a steelbook version
