I like the emphasis on how secure and privacy-conscious SuperBacked is, that it's not SaaS/subscription-based, and that "You are NOT the product" -- which definitely helps distinguish it from other modern software solutions!
Sun, this is amazing! And no, it's not expensive at all. Who thinks this is expensive? It's half a letter written by an attorney. Or half a year of gym membership one never uses but has to feel better haha. Keep up the great work.
Why didn’t you open source it though? Can you talk a bit more about your licensing choice? In the current business model only someone that bought the app can audit it. One cannot audit it to decide buying it or not.
In a nutshell, it is extremely hard to earn a living developing open source software that doesn’t require hardware to use. I have dedicated thousands of hours doing research and publishing educational content on TH-cam (without monetizing channel). I have spend hundreds of hours on Superbacked. Everyone has to earn a living… would you work for free? Superbacked can be audited similarly to how one audits open source projects (when arguably very few actually do). Keeping code proprietary (meaning others cannot monetize my work on Superbacked) while making it auditable is the only sustainable way forward.
@@sunknudsen You know that yyou can release source code under a proprietary license, right? Also @Twometer proved on the last video that it does not take "hundreds of hours" to build something like Superbacked. He did it in a weekend and his version is opensource & cross-platform for Mac, Windows and Linux. It's on his github under twometer/hyperbacked (can't post links here) Also it is very unprofessional, especially as a security-researcher to literally ban people for posting criticism
Open source software is no guarantee for an audit. It is hard to make a backdoor in the code as data is stored in paper. Governance is everything and open source definitely improves it, but it can be achieved in different ways.

12 countries already 😮🎉
Yes, interested in the business side of this endeavor. Thanks for offering to make vids on this subject if there is interest. Very interested.
Thanks for feedback… please consider subscribing to www.youtube.com/@superbacked.
Thank you for making this!
Price is fair. TBH it is pretty low. Expected $500. Will share with friends and family.

Thanks for the confidence boost… appreciated.
@@sunknudsen you‘re welcome. that backup service really is an amazing idea.
It's expensive for "software" but as a "money safe" it's not expensive at all
I wouldn't decrease the price
Even though I can't afford it🤣😭
The price is extremely fair. I would have expected it to be at least $500

Yeah it is a bit shady. He did not really reply about the open source matter.
At the start of the video he mentions that since Superbacked is an Electron app you can actually audit the code yourself.

it is definitely not a product for me but wish you great success
Thanks for the push!
I would go for it if it was $100
Airs
That word… damn
The price is definitely fair
Verify, don't trust. This video: "trust us."
Fully open source, or nothing.
Exactly what I thought!
Not at all… Superbacked is as transparent as open source projects… but you have to pay. Sorry… can’t afford to work for free on this one.
