    Hi Kevin, great review, I want one. I have a JVC AXZ 1010TN amp which uses JVC's SUPER-A circuitry which acted the same way, increasing the voltage to the power o/p transistors by feed forward technique on large transients or bass notes. Most of the time it worked in class A and sounded great. It's now got a fault and can't play loud. This sounds like a great replacement. I always enjoy your reviews, thanks and best wishes from the UK.

    Does dirac live mean the SA750 is doing DDC? Digital to Digital conversion?

  • @meshplates
    @meshplates 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Had a minidsp shd with dirac. Honestly, when you engage dirac, it kills dynamics because it is squishing the sound so that it is flatter. A compression isnapplied. It took me a while to be able to admit that it sounded worse. Once I did, I understood that dirac wasn't the panacea it is claimed to be, so I let the unit go.

Oh and Kevin your unbridled enthusiasm is truly infectious in a great way, you obviously live and love Hi Fidelity and your passion for it truly shines through.

    I have had no end of problems with this amp. I bought one and it had a constant distorted noise through the speakers. The dealer happily exchanged it….and send it back to the distributor and gave me a new one. Which after a month frooze during an automatic update. They fixed that by “flashing” it (their term). After that it had the same distortion as the first unit. I think this is an amp made to look good…but poorly designed and build.

    Great content but I got to say, you two lose me at the end talking about 500 hours on break-in like it's no big deal. 😳 That's 20.83 days and nights of nonstop playing!🤯 That's as unrealistic as one can get.🙄 That's Months worth of 2 hour daily sessions. And using a decent sound level. If I'm breaking in the speaker's, I'm not going to have the volume on number two?🙄🤔🥴 Who in the world does this?🤔🤫🤗 Wouldn't an average person think if you're spending $10,000, 25,000, $40,000 on a pair of speakers that they would be designed in a way they wouldn't have to be broken in for 500 hours!🤯🤯🤯 Not 5 hours but 500!🥴😳 And the crazy part is it may be true.😉🤪 If you research the topic here on TH-cam, you can find great videos showing the topic of break-in is not as easy as it may seem.🤓

    Cheap junky lelon capacitors in the power supply for 3000 dollars. Really jbl? You really needed to save that extra few bucks? I expect to see that junk in a 125 dollar Amp. Should only be proper Panasonic, Nippon chemicon or nichicon Japanese caps and nothing else, why not elna semlic II in the audio circuitry? Why is there crummy 5 percent tolerance carbon film resistors... Why not 1 percent tolerance or better metal films that won't go out of tolerance in 10 years, in a design like this, you need precise resistors.... Bet it won't work in 10 to 15 years... If I would buy that, you best believe I'd be putting proper parts inside instead of that junk, I certainly would live stream every step too... Sure, I bet it sounds good, but that cost cutting stuff is definitely holding it back, not only with how it sounds, but also long term reliability... 75th anniversary... Really? Wanna know why 40 year old equipment still works? Because they didn't use junk... This most certainly won't be likee the original unit it's trying to live up to. Granted, a 40 year old or more piece of gear would need to be recapped, but most of them would still work. Any tech who knows about component quality would've took a look inside that sa 750 and would've said, really? I almost wanna just get one to correct it...
