    Have you thought of marking where the the holes should go, removing them, drilling holes, bolting it down, then pulling the vehicle on again? 🤔

    • @cwisted5308
      @cwisted5308 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      That's the proper way to do it. They have tutorials on instagram explaining how to properly install. All you have to do is put the vehicle in the spot you want it and use a sharpie or some sort of marker then back it out and bolt them in. They aren't supposed to be installed with the UTV on the trailer which ending up bending them

    This video made me curious about the product, so I went and looked at it on Amazon. The listing goes through a great deal of trouble to talk about "supporting a USA based family business". That being said, the first question someone asked about the listing was "are these made in China?" The answer was listed as "yes". So they are Chinese crap. I think your review was very fair, and showed the problems and low quality that these really are. Thanks for the honest review!!

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah I know it, at first you see all of this proudly engineered in the USA but then in small print on the box was 'assembled in China' Thanks Chris

    • @toddbuh
      @toddbuh 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      when I called them out, all they would say was that it was designed and engineered in USA. I initially asked about a rope shackle and got the "but it was designed & engineered in USA" answer, my 1st thought was you can't make a rope? they've been around for a thousand years, just how do you design and engineer a rope? cavemen made them and now you tell me your not smart enough to make a rope?. but their design is to copy other companies already making the same thing, and the engineering was painting it a different color and giving it a new name. I'm sure it was very hard picking lime green for the color even though it's the same green color as all their other chinese made (by 10 yr. old girls) products are. all you have to do is buy another brand already available, then measure it and send the specs to china to make one like it. which they probably didn't even have to do that, I'm sure china already had the specs from stealing them or making them for 1 of the other companies that used china to make theirs too. I wish I had done my homework and found out before buying them. I won't let that happen again. Buy American made products everyone!!

      Rhino USA seems to want to come across as making their products in the U.S.. It is like the iPhone: Engineered in California, made in China. Mac's tie downs are more expensive but made in the U.S..

    Your video reinforced my decision to go another route. Instead of a $120 set for 4 wheels, I went to HD and bought 8 D-ring tiedowns and bolted them to my decking for a little over 1/2 price. I had to buy the bolts to anchor them down (just like you had to do anyway). I had some 1/8" scrap metal for my backing plates. Each D-ring is rated for 3,600 lbs - more than enough for my 1700lb SxS. Other than that, it's similar to the Rhino set up.
    Their instructions could be better. Locate and drill the 1st two mounting holes on each chock as you did. Then remove all of the chocks and back the SxS off the trailer. Then the remaing holes can be located, drilled and all bolts installed.

    • @kapperoutdoors

      Well the decking all depends on the manufacturer and how they secured it, but most are quite secure, being fastened to the steel frame. If you use all 4 wheel chocks like this I doubt you'll have any issues, regardless of the decking. They are made to hold down a UTV with just 2 chocks, so if you go with all 4 like I did you should be just fine. Thanks, and good luck.

Perhaps, the "skunk", because they stink, and you feel like you got skunked by purchasing them. Seriously though, they are way to lightweight to give one any sense of solidity or ability to last for any length of time. They certainly don't inspire any confidence in the strength required to keep a $25k+ toy safely secured to a trailer that will be bouncing along for the potential of upwards of 50 to 500 miles. All in all, those things look like they're made out of something only twice as thick as a dole pineapple juice can. They should go back. And man, those screws... Holy smokes. Pot metal garbage.

    A smart person would have just put the sxs on the trailer where you wanted it, then put the chocks in place and marked all of the holes, then backed the sxs off and drilled and mounted the chocks, you guys made it look like 2 monkeys doing you know what to a football.

    Let's go Brandon!! Also, good review. I've got a set of straps for mine made by SpeedStrap. I've been real happy with them so far. Combine the speedstrap bonnets with some ETrack rails bolted to your trailer flooring is a quality setup in my opinion.

      Lol. Well it looked like it was worth a try to me. I looked at that set I think when I was shopping and was wondering if it was a good option. I just ended up going with the speedstrap option.

      @@kapperoutdoors me too, I just learned of speed straps today. why dont the rear straps look like the front straps? I read where one guys rear straps thru wheel got cut from the bouncing while hauling it. but you never know how to believe replies on here or reviews on amazon, I've bought highly rated products and after getting them I wonder why anyone would give that junk a high review? it's obviously crap. that's where the return option is so handy, send it back and try again with a different brand

Try using your metric crescent wrench instead of a ratchet.
