I've worked for and employed a lot of crew chiefs in my 28 years of NASCAR Cup racing, and I can promise you that this man is perhaps the classiest and most knowledgeable of most all. Not only do I value him as a friend and teammate, but I equally admire him and how he carries himself. His credibility within our sport is fully backed up by his dedication, hard work and the way he treats his team. It's refreshing and admirable. Any team within our garage will be absolutely lucky to have him join their operation and that goes for Josh Berry, as well. Before this year is fully over, you will see more of what I am talking about.

the issue is the teams dont get enough of the tv contract money in order to pay drivers, crew and engineers like they used to. f1 gets alot of the pie.

Ford needs to put up some scratch to keep Rodney in the ford camp or this is a massive L. In fact they should be working tirelessly to keep all the best personnel. SHR closing is already bad for ford.
The team guys were so close to the situation that I think many of them didn't see the writing on the wall. I thought this was in the works over a year ago. Stewart and Haas both became absentee owners as both had many other distractions taking them away from the Cup and Xfinity. Then Harvick was the only man there who acted like glue for the company. So between S&H distractions and Harvick retiring at the end of last year, all the teams started down the Lame Duck path I don't know if anything has been absolutely confirmed yet on who is buying the charters. Maybe, I just haven't heard myself. But those team will need drivers, pit crews, shop men, to fill they new teams. And these SH guys are al extremely talented. So I would doubt many will need to look to hard to find a spot somewhere. Too soon to know who will get sniped by other teams early during this season or who will stay till the end of 24. If people start leaving in droves will SH still have enough people to complete the season? Either way, I would bet that both Tony and Gene don't care. Both are wealthy beyond filthy and the team ' really isn't on their radar anymore.
I mean this could have been prevented if Gene sold his F1 team. The base cost of operating that F1 team could have fully funded 6 high caliber teams for an entire season with money left over. It’s just sad
Genes primary focus is promoting his ACTUAL business, and his F1 team exists to do just that on the worldwide market. I bet Gene sees a much bigger ROI investing in F1 than in NASCAR. It sucks as a NASCAR fan of Harvick and his former associates but it is what it is.

It's not dumb. Gene is getting somewheres between 20 to 30 million a piece for the charters. Without that it would be the shop, haulers, chassis, Bodies and parts plus tools and that's not much money really
It’s surely understandable that Gene and Tony are now more interested in other forms of racing than NASCAR. If the tv money that Nascar receives were to be paid out to teams more equitably and if it where possible for team owners to receive a reasonable return on their investment perhaps Tony and Gene would have hired someone to run this team and not liquidate it.

Based on Rodney's comments here and Kevin's comments at the All Star race as well as on his podcast, I am extremely disappointed in Smoke. I thought he had a higher character than this.
I don’t think Smoke could do any more. Gene’s F1 team just hemmoraghes money and he insisted on keeping that team instead of the nascar teams. That F1 team costs Gene at a base minimum 135 million a year while a cup team only costs 20 million.
The relationship between Tony and NASCAR has soured over the years. I don' think is has anything to do with Tony's character. Harvick said the ownership wasn't invested in the management of the team. It's probably best they move on.
It's not that people don't want to work especially in NASCAR it's they can find better jobs for more money and better benefits. NASCAR with all races being inund and can't make big changes not much to do to the cars anymore at the track unless need to fix something and another thing is only 1 buy week other than this year so next year they go from Daytona and get off for Easter and then not off again until November
