Thank you! My 2016 S550 was declared totaled today and tomorrow I'm buying a 2018 S450 to replace it. I love the power of the 550 but its way more than I need. I think the 450 is a little bit more nimble and without giving up much power - I'm excited.
i know but the Mercedes will lose most of its value and be in the shop with thousands of dollars in repair cost while the Lexus will still on the road with no repair cost
Jerry makes a pretty significant error on this video at about the 4:45 mark. He says that after coming to a complete stop in stop and go driving, as long as the stop is less than 3 seconds, the S450 will resume driving by itself. He must have gotten mixed up with the older stop and go feature prior to the 2018 S Class. In reality, the S450 will resume driving by itself with the stop lasting at least 30 seconds. Some folks that already own the S450 say it will resume driving by itself even if the stop is about a minute as long as one has the Driver Information Package. Other than that one error, this is a good video.
My former wife accused me of being "too practical", so I'd like a Diesel station wagon. It'll be 20+ yrs before Diesel's eliminated from our fuel choices by the PTB.
The STYLE of the car is not impressive, but where it LEADS,(and by a WIDE margin),is in the Technology that is class leading. NOBODY can come close to Diamler Benz, when it comes to safety, tech, and style. Not even Volvo! This car is on my "gotta buy" list for 2018.
Michael Howard V8 is a thing of the past. I traded my C63s for the GLC43 AMG suv And it drives like a dream plus 0 to 60 in 4.1 to 4.2 seconds. 4matic is awesome! I lost $$ on the trade but hey, the SUV puts smiles on my face
Michael Howard u trippin bruh u see the gas mileage on that mother . 19 and 28 my 2012 Honda Accord gets the same thing . But don’t have the 300 plus horse power it has or the same torque . People don’t want Big engines anymore the want gas saving engines with sport as a option . Most people who live in the city (like myself ) can’t even get a straight away to even push the power limit anyway . Merc trim levels for e and c and 4cylinder
Do not put the Mercedes ornament on the hood anymore.lts old fashion!,,,,,,, I drive a. 2017 at present time. Show me the 2020 model... This is the third recall I get on my 17 car......what’s going on. It is very annoying to have to go to service and wait for my car. Jocelyne l. Yanez in Michigan
I doubt it's anywhere close to the number one top selling luxury car in America though. I guess you meant no 1 selling flagship luxury sedan. Please reveiw the new 2018 Lexus Ls 500 which is the same engine as this with more Hp and torque and slightly cheaper base price. The new Lexus Ls 500 has a better interior than this, far more modern and has every single safety tech system you mentioned here plus some not on this car. For eg the world first pedestrian detection with automatic braking and active steering which not only brakes to avoid collision with pedestrians or objects but steers round automatically while trying to keep you in lane as much as possible. This s class is incredible but it isn't the undisputed King in the segment any more. BMW and Lexus now have more tech overall when you look at the controls for the rear executive seating package on all of them. The S class is the only one now with manual controls or physical buttons. The rest including the new Audi A8 have Lcd I pad controls for most features. The Lexus takes it s step up with seat controls through the screen, the rest till have physical buttons for the seats. But all other controls for the rear are controlled by the Lcd remote control.
You're a known Mercedes basher. Get out of here. This has pedestrian detection as well and evasive steering assist. Don't comment if you haven't done your research. This has more tech than the Lexus and 7. Don't even try to compare a Lexus to this. The Lexus systems aren't even close to as good. And this can do more parking maneuvers with no one in the car than the 7. Soooo. You're so wrong. Don't hate until you actually know all the facts. There's a reason why this outsells all its competitors. So go cry somewhere else.
I will add several more features. The semi autonomous (Distronic Plus) is far ahead of the Lexus. I have not driven the LS500 but I have read that the stop and go driving is more advanced than that on the new Lexus. For example, does the LS resume driving after a full stop, for at least 30 seconds, on its own in stop and go traffic? Does the LS have active change lane assist by just by flicking the turn signal? Does the LS have the energizing feature? What about the automatic adjustment for speed limit (I'm not sure about this one)? Does the LS have the Night Vision Assist? These are just a few of the features/options that the S Class (even the S450) has that the LS does not. And the reviews on that touch pad on the LS are awful if not outright dangerous since it distracts the drivers attention from the road. Also, from all accounts the interior of this "new generation" LS is actually smaller than the previous generation even though the new one is considerably longer. Oh yes! The LS does not even have Apple Car Play or Android Play. That's rather amazing. Lexus IS falling way behind the times. I use to own the 2008 LS 460L. However, I could not avoid leaving Lexus and I purchased the 2014 S550 (new generation). Never had any regrets. I was seriously considering going back to Lexus with the new LS 500. However, I was very disappointed on what it has to offer in terms of technology, etc., and I just ordered the new 2019 MB S450 with great options.
I am a tremendous admirant of the S-class but I can tell you from experience the quality is CRAP! There is no way they make them like they used to. Look at the workmanship in the new Audi A8 and I tell you it's superior.
Have had my 2019 S 560 for 6 days now. I’m in heaven. Honest.
We can believe it! Congrats!
This is one of the best car reviews I've come across.

My brains telling me Lexus but my eyes says Mercedes. what do I do?
Lexus dependability. Lexus service is superior to MB
Love my S450 The Best or Nothing😍
Brisdad53 Well you love yours I love mine, what I love the most is its paid for!
@@Massa_pequa I will getting the 718 Cayman in 2 years. We both will have luxury cars
@@realkingrav2265 Congratulations!
Do you still have your s450 ..any problems .thinking about buying one .do you recommend
@@Rootsmanskanking yes I still have it, never any problems. Best car I have owned, highly recommend!
Thanks for doing an EXCELLENT infomercial on the New S Class
The best review of the new s class
Lexus can't come close to the design of this s class
I'd go for the MB but Lexus make reliable cars which should be respected. Also the new Lexus LS is a huge improvement from the previous generation.
Actually the new 2018 Lexus LS is so much better looking and driving. I love Mercedes but I'll take the LS for everything and it's #1 reliability.
i know but the Mercedes will lose most of its value and be in the shop with thousands of dollars in repair cost while the Lexus will still on the road with no repair cost
It’s funny you mention the Benz reliability because consumer reports rated the s class better than average since 2015.
If you guys study lexus a lot more. You will realize lexus is always setting new trends the other luxury brand follows

It’s amazing and awesome
Why it doesen‘t come with the new inline-six cylinder engine for the us-market?!
THE BEST CAR IN THE WORLD SIMPLY
👍Fantastic review i have ever seen❤
Is the S450L the same as this one or is it a bit longer?
Does not exist😉
in the US the 450 is already the L version
Great overview

Is the S450 rear seat legroom same as the S560? I wish this video showed that
sure it's the same, why should there be a difference because of the engine?🤦🏼♂️
What about sport +
Great review!
The 2018 S450 is supposed to be an Inline 6!? How come this car has a V6?
The Euro spec will get the M256 I6 motor. The S in this market will get the V6 found in the other "43 AMG models".
going to get this soon! but the V8 S560
Wich v6?!
I would mind getting a ticket on that car 😁
the 450 is a straight six engine, not a V6🤦🏼♂️
V6?..keep it

Jocelyne Yanez what was it recalled for?
Me too 2020
Well, in luxury standards it's like a Roll's Royce. They have the similar ornament on their hood as well. I won't see anyway why they would remove it.
Background rock music serves no purpose whatsoever!
Self steering, lane keep assist, AND automatic stop.... Ehhhh.... SO does a Kia optima. Lol
Then YOU keep the Kia!🤣🤣🤣🤣
