The jacquard woven project was my favorite while I was at FIT!!!! I’m currently sitting on the chair I upholstered the fabric with ❤

I babysat a couple kids back in the seventies in Monterey! I was 16 I think. We lived in Walnut Creek and they rented a house for a week. I loved playing in the water with the kiddos. Lots of fond memories. I’m in my sixties now. Love all things fabric, textiles, crocheting, sewing and embroidery. Would have loved going to school if fibers had been the focus. Instead, I went for secretarial. Ended up hating that. So fun watching you in your growth as a fiber artist. Success.

I like the dark placemat better. It’s not lost against the tablecloth but also doesn’t overpower it. I think the light one gets a little lost.

KNIT LAB! I call dibs for that in the zombie apocalypse, alpacalypse if we play our cards right. M R DUX. I can't pick between light or dark. They're both gorgeous. I am so happy you took care of our nosy needs for your life even though you were so tired. Thanks!

Placemat - The pink from the lotus in the middle - lightest napkin of the last 3 plaid.

Call me lazy, but i think darker placemats and napkins hide spaghetti sauce and sundry food stains better. So you can get away with less frequent laundering (assuming same person using same napkin for several days...I'm not a complete slob!)

And hopefully it's gonna be a good day today. Love hearing this every time

The lighter placemat is so pretty 😍 and I thought the light green plaid napkins fit nicely with that.

I like the dark place mat. I imagine a nice contrast with a white plate…

What an overwhelming week! But also very exciting. Your kelp jacquard design charms me soooo much as well as your tablecloth! That kitty has such sweet meows. That knit lab looks amazing and I can't wait to see you work on your next jacquard project!!

The dark napkin seem to combine it all the best.

So busy! I like both placemats, I like the darker one slightly more, but you are right, they have a more formal energy--I think that's highlighted by the definitely INformal energy of the napkins. Whereas the tablecloth could go either way. I think if the napkins were slightly less informal, maybe a stripe (a satin?), it might all slide toward the less-formal-end-of-formal? Maybe? Good luck!

I think adding one or two of the lotus flowers from the pond onto the placemat could help tie it in with the tablecloth a bit more. I love the plaid napkins.

I like the darker place mat, not sure how they play together. If you want more casual, maybe play up the alligator more....alligator skin print??

What a fun week to watch! I love your alligator fabric- as a quilter I’d buy 1/4 yard! Will you do any quilting fabric design in your courses?
Regarding the placemat- I like the darker one and maybe a striped napkin vs plaid. Either way- you always make things more beautiful than I imagine. Well done! 👍🏼

i would go with the dark one because the base color of your watercolor print is similar dark

I've been following your journey pretty closely as I'm in a similar field as you currently (I even tried my hand in STEM but as a zoology major before transferring over to appearl) and you're tenacity has kept me going whenever I contemplate dropping out or something else. Thank you for being an inspiration, even if it's a parsocial relationship 😅

I just read the top two comments. Looks like you will have the same light dark split on the placemat. Well, I vote light. Light on the dark tablecloth is how I see it. Strips for the napkins using the darker colors. I know you will find some inspiration and resolve your thoughts.

Love this! My personal preference... Love the top napkin (light green and cream stripe) For the placemat, I like the lighter one BUT for me, the dark edge is what throws me.

Do the napkins have to have a pattern on it? I think you could do solids of the colors you are already using in your alligator print, especially the ones that are minimally used. I think it would compliment your piece that you've worked so hard on. Sometimes less is more?

I feel like I must be missing something here, but if the ducks are made of mushroom, how do they not go bad? Anyway, I'm still loving the alligator design. I can totally envision it on a silky blouse.

Hi Andrea, I recently was accepted to FIT Surface Design program and found your videos. Thank you for making them and giving your audience a sense of the program. I have some logistic questions about timing / workload related themes. Any way I could get your take on things? I live in NYC as well.
