I feel like most of the time these country homes are uninhabited. A groundskeeper/gamekeeper might visit now and then to keep things tidy and all the animals fed, but these houses are mostly art pieces in themselves, meant mostly for preservation for the sake of preservation. And the odd weekend getaway.
