A great Atari 2600 game, and along with Frankenstein's Monster and Crypts of Chaos, one of the most atmospheric Atari games ever produced.

I liked this game. I thought chasing Dracula into the tower was challenging and unlike most games at the time it gave you an ending.
I also had no idea that the chopper was a mummy. But that is due to the fact that I never read the instructions. 😂

wow I didn't realize how complex this game was (especially with all the difficulty switches). I picked up this game a little while but have yet to try it out or do a video on it. Great review :)

This is pretty rad. I love these multi scene Atari games.

I was kind if hoping this would be a Haunted House sequel. I haven't played this one, but it looks excellent.
Maybe you should do a top ten spooky atari game count down for Halloween?

Such a weird, hard game. It's pretty impressive though. Found a double ender cartridge with it and Spikes Peak on it recently. Glad to find a detailed review of it so that I understand what to do better. Thanks!

This used to terrify me as a 5 year old. I think it was the sounds. Well, the harsh Atari sounds in general were scary as hell to a sensitive little kid like me, whether it was this or a loud car racing game.

Same! It make the hair on my neck stand up. Same with spikes peak and some other games

(As a 7 year old) the title screen and game over screen was really scary for me. Also (as a 7 year old) how was I supposed to know that's what I was supposed to do with the coffins, and crosses, and dracula? Everything I ever accomplished in the game I did by accident. Needed Chuck Norris to come deal with these guys for me. Nice review.

I have the stand alone cart no box or manual I wonder if its actually worth the 50 cents I paid for it at a yardsale.

I'd say the standalone is worth $15-20. Nice find!

i was laughed at when buying a large group of Atari games from these people but I got this as a double ender with spikes peak and then a standalone version as well as a standalone version of spikes peak plus Montezuma's revenge. they had a great selection of games and I got a great deal of them for 50 cents a piece it was the last yard sale I went to a few years ago. I need to get back out to those again some day lol

Had this game as a kid. Enjoyed it back then but I played it recently and didn’t care for it. I don’t mind the game having a distinct ending but then why bother having a point system? That second screen is pretty striking though.

    • @thenosweargamer1449
      @thenosweargamer1449  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Points was a much bigger deal back then. I'm sure if two kids played the game when it came out, they might compete to see who got the most points.

It's pronounced Zō nocks. Long O.
Your Character can push the wall when it moves away from you and score points.
One thing you missed is Xonox games are 8K bankswitching ROMs.

    • @sandal_thong

Why would that give you points? Looks like he cutaway just before the wall or line slammed into the girl.

I'd heard of another 2600 game that used the color/BW switch to do something. How would you know without the manual or someone telling you? I guess there's no such switch on the 7800? Oops.
This is the best of the Xonox Double-Enders and of 258 games reviewed, the only one in the top 50% at 99 (so far: I don't expect much from Motocross Racer). "E 10 and up rating." I'll have to write that down as almost every game gets an "E for Everyone."

Why would you hate 2600 games ? Given most are pretty ugly, many indeed suck and are pretty simplistic compared to modern games, but there are still many, that just play great, despite their simplicity. E.g the 2600 version of Berzerk is absolutely fantastic and still worth playing today. And so is Demon attack, Pitfall, H.E.R.O., River Raid, Battlezone, Star Raiders or Lady Bug, just to mention a few.
If a game is fun to play, it's good, no matter what system it's on. Even the Philips CDi has a few good games (not sure about the game.com though).
