- Today, I taste and review "Jim Beam Devils Cut." This bourbon is a nationwide release, is readily available and can be found for around $25. The question is: is it good? And what is "The Devils Cut?"

I enjoy the pricey/Unicorn bottle reviews, but these bottles that sit on shelves across the US getting some spotlight is great for the budget conscious buyer! Thanks Matt!
There also a lot on the shelf that get overlooked as well.
mother-in-law should work for Jim Beam 😂
Agitate the Devil out of those walls... LOL
Thanks for the review. I love seeing affordable, available reviews.
Pray for Matt. He went public with what every husband thinks about mothers-in-law… 😮
Love these reviews on everyday shelfers, Matt. Keep them coming. 🥃
try watching at 1.75 speed. had limited time so tried it. informative as usual and even more entertaining
Taste the Devil's Cut again in a 2 weeks. I always thought that the flavor starts fading and it's pretty flat after a month or so. I still love the stuff for that first few weeks!
Thanks for reviewing a whiskey I can actually get my hands on, thanks Matt! Your awesome!
Devil's Cut and the Black are the two bottles that got me started in my bourbon journey. They still hold a sentimental place for me. Glad to see a lower tier bottle review! Thanks Matt!
Very interesting you doing a review on a bottle I definitely would not have given a second look. Thanks for doing it. I learned not to prejudge a bourbon.
Is Jim Beam holding your family hostage?
Has to be.... this stuff is undrinkable
Blink twice if you aren't safe!
For $25 I'm still picking up a liter of Early Times BiB. If I can find it - for some reason it's been MIA on shelves around me for over a month. Managed to find a couple bottles at a liquor store I never go into usually.
That shirt reminds me of a watermelon rind. Cheers Matt!
i’ve been picking up more and more cheap bottles like this. weekday drinkers and save my limited stuff for other occasions. and most of these cheap bottles are great to sit and sip while playing a game when you’re not there to be critical but to have a great flavorful pour that you don’t mind if the bottle gets low because it’s a cheap replacement.
They use a centrifuge. It's not actually cost effective to do it to all of your barrels, which is why you don't see more of it done
Oh that makes sense! A huge SJ!
Ah yes! Ye olde spin cycle!
Love the shirt!
Women knowing what they want to eat, there’s a good one! 😂🤣
The Jim Beam Distiller's Choice that this replaced in Jim Beam's Core Line-up was the Bourbon that got me into Bourbon not mixed with Coke. The disappointment when I tried Devil's Cut was deep!
What sort of alchemy is this? Sounds like bourbon fracking.
Evans Williams Bottled in Bond is the tastiest low cost bourbon in my opinion. Finally getting to stock my shed bar😊
Love this stuff
Is that a googan squad polo?? That’s awesome
"Rind" is 100% a real word, Matt
Semantic satiation is a psychological phenomenon in which repetition causes a word or phrase to temporarily lose meaning for the listener, who then perceives the speech as repeated meaningless sounds
Rind rind rind
Great. I have read and reread your comment and I no longer know what satiation means
That’s funny
I struggle with the word SURE from time to time. Can’t explain it
Had this one early in my “bourbon journey” and enjoyed it. Have kind of forgotten about it as I have started buying more expensive and harder to get bottles, but I should revisit it. I also remember it having more of a spicy kick than other whiskeys at the same price point.
Nice, I have heard that early bottlings of this are really great as well and can be found collecting dust on some shelves.
The watermelon rind note is something I always got from Ben Holloday
A big giant robot squeezes the oak staves like a sponge. It's obvious bro.
They talked about this on whiskey pursuit. They put a little water in the barrel and sweat the barrel so it gets pulled into the water and then cut the whisky with that water.
my bourbon walls need happiness extraction.
Beam 7 year isn’t horrible for its price.
I got the 1.75 for $38 recently.
I didn’t write home about it… but it was decent.👍🥃
Nice Googan squad shirt. Need to follow up and get Outlaw on, I know not part of GS, but they’re all buddies.
I can't get ahold of the dude 🤷♂️
@ADHDWhiskey I'll keep commenting on his videos to push him.
Well, I must say that is a very nice black widow you have in the background.
This was my go to for hears
Meal planning is the worst, we always run out of ideas too Matt.
Screw tops are my preference in wine and whiskey. Because they work. But I still love mimicking The Big Boss, the HMFIC, the WTWT, the Gigantor of GigaChads (i.e., Matt) and saying “America” when I ploop a cork. 🇺🇸 😊
Nice Googan Squad shirt…a link to your adhd fishing days.
I still like the baby buffalo line from Benchmark
Does liking Devils Cut make one a Devils advocate? 🤔😁
😂
The 7 Year is very good. Not sure if it's just the repackaged "Extra Aged" (which I never tried). Whatever the case, it's very good.
Help! There is bourbon living in my walls!
My mother in law could extract WAY MORE bourbon out of the barrel than yours can 😂
Oof that mother in law comment is gonna resonate hard with a lot of your viewers. 😂
I’m surprised by this review. I’m a JB fan but really don’t go under KC personally. I’m interested in the new 7 year but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. To many other bottles I’m interested in.
Jim Beam has a lot of other brands that I really like but I have never had a bottle that had Beam on the label that I like. Devil's cut, Black and single barrel have never floated my boat.
Centrifuge
Chuck those barrel staves in your washing machine and put it on spin cycle
Sounds like a decent inexpensive bottle. Did you ever try their Distiller's Cut? I stashed away a few extra bottles of it some years ago when I found them $18. I just opened the last one of them this past weekend. I may have to get Devil's Cut now.
Did you look into whether or not they use the walls of Jericho to extract the bourbon from the barrel walls?
How exactly Jim Beam removes the wood-trapped bourbon is a closely guarded secret, but Jim Beam noted when the bourbon was first released that it was done via a proprietary technique involving "agitation." This extracted whiskey is then given time to regain its balance before being added to extra-aged bourbon and bottled at 90 proof. Tasting Table
I am agitated that they will not tell me how they do it. Damn them.
I think years ago I heard something about pouring in very hot, in fact boiling water, basically water vapor into the barrels... This way they get out water with low ABV and some extra ashes which then is mixed with bourbon. Something like that, this explanation of the process seemed quite possible to me...
Steam
They use a machine that looks like a giant paint shaker, they add boiling water and barrel staves to it to extract the alcohol.
Please blind this “Devil’s Cut” with their “Double Oak”, Jim Bean 7 Year, and “Old Tub” to see what you think of each, and which is best. Thank you!
Is that like Fracking Oil out of Shelled Rock? Works for the Oil industry , so this could be very interesting....
They have this machine that looks like a giant paint shaker, they put the oak staves in with some hot water and shake the whiskey out.
But if they take the Devil's cut, then the devil would no longer have any... Then at that point would it still be considered "Devil's cut"?....or maybe it would then be the humans' cut of the devil's cut? IDK 🤷♂️
Jim 7 is good
At one time I liked Jim Beam Devil’s Cut but I’m not a big fan of it these days. In that price range I think Evan William’s 1783 is so much better.
That one is a winner. I like that so much more than the EW BiB.
I couldn't drink it. It's so astringent and dry.. Just a hard no
Chip the staves and press the juice out? Just spit ballin'
Sonic vibration for extraction?
How they extract that from them sweet walls Matt
Does this make it a finished bourbon?
Don’t quote me but I thought they turn up the heat and sweat out the devils juice from the barrel.
I figured out what B524 means as well as the other Heaven Hill codes......Forget I asked....
Sorry. I didn't see that comment, Scott
What is your league average? Perhaps it’s 222 (which multiplied by three games is 666… the Devil’s preferred number)
Sounds like finishing in a used bourbon barrel...
Old tub babay🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 lol
Was this a sponsored review?
Pretty sure the Beam did.. this stuff is swill 🤮
#motherinlawagitation 😅
Pretty sure this is just shtick-skey
Woo HOO
🦅👑
I think people's taste buds are fried if they think Devils cut is above average.
