They are similar in that they are both used to give reasons, but the structures are a little different as (이)라서 is only used with nounsn wheras 기 때문에 is used with verbs.
@@korean.studio1 That's why you sound a little Australian then. The Australian accent is essentially a blend of many, many other accents which, blended, renders in that flat, neutral kind of sound we make. You accent is similar in many ways. :-) So: 라서 basically joins whole sentences: 라서 ... . (similar to (이)라고, (이)라는) 떼문에 basically adds 'because' to phrases: 떼문에 ... . "기" 떼문에 kind of nominalises the first phrase, making it into a full "to-be" sentence, so that it's similar to (이)라서. Am I on the right track? Great channel: You explanations are really good!! I usually go to Go Billy!. But I'll look for answers at your channel also, from now on! Subscribed! Thank you!
Pretty much, except 라서 has that meaning of 'to be', whereas 기 때문에 would be related to the verb that's attached to 기. Fran, are you a language teacher? I only ask because I don't know of too many non-language teaching people who can say 'kind of nominalises the first phrase' with such ease :)
What a simple and straightforward explnation! Thank you so much!
Great explanation 선생님. Cleared my confusion between the two terms. 감사합니다

Is (이)라서 has the same meaning with (이)기 때문에??
They are similar in that they are both used to give reasons, but the structures are a little different as (이)라서 is only used with nounsn wheras 기 때문에 is used with verbs.

Australian accent?
Mostly UK, but I've been all over the place mixing with people from everywhere so it's becoming more difficult to say :)
