      The Superman TAS Flash too is Wally West. Barry has completely different personality, and that one behaves almost exactly like JL/JLU Wally. Also... Since when is different costume an indication of a different person wearing it? In comics Wally had like 4 or 5 versions of Flash costume. Flash's design just changed for new series, and that is all.

      You know it was supposed to be Barry Allen in the JL unlimited show, right? The reason they didn’t do it is because he died years ago in the comics, wally took his place, and Warner Bros. care a lot about continuity.
      This is why there’s so many nods to Wally being Barry like how he acts similar to Barry, how Lex Luther as Flash took off his mask (Wally takes off his mask without touching his face), how Wally has a lightning freak accident as an adult, etc.
      Barry is serious when he needs to be because of all the problem he’s in, Wally never really went through what Barry has and that’s why he’s practically never serious (until 2016)
      TL;DR. They wanted Barry but Warner Bros. didn’t let them, so they made Wally into a red head Barry but even less serious.

    • @anthonypotato1252
      @anthonypotato1252 6 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Ginger Gordon Wally is never serious because he never went through what Barry has? Hahahahahhaha. He has went through worse and he definitely knows when to be serious and when to be relaxed. In Geoff Johns Flash he watched zoom kill his unborn children. And don’t forget his uncle that he saw as a father figure died. Let’s not get condescending because you like Barry.

      “Let’s not get condescending because you like Barry”
      But you could get condescending because you like Wally... Ironic.
      Barry’s mom died, Father went to jail for his childhood years, never been in his children’s childhood thus having them hate him, has a nephew from the 25th century wanting to ruin his life, was “dead” for 20 years... must I go on?
      Let me guess you’ll come back saying “you only like Barry because of the CW” which isn’t true, and even if it were true I’m able to say the same argument as “you just like Wally because of your blindness to Nostalgia”
      The Creators wanted Barry but they couldn’t because they needed to represent the characters in the comics during the time of the release.
      Please tell me more about how your favourite public service of the Keystone Police Department got his powers as an adult while he was in a Forensics laboratory.

    The reason why it took so long for Richie's Bang Baby powers to surface was because it took along time for the Big Bang Gas chemicals to affect him. It was revealed in the episode where they discovered he was a Bang Baby. While he wasn't anywhere near the Big Bang, Virgil was and his clothes were coated in the chemicals of the Big Bang. So Richie came in contact with the chemicals in Virgil's clothes but it was a smaller dose then the huge air born cloud so it took longer to work it's way through his body and change his DNA.

    • @devinnall2284

      If we count that one chapter from JLU tie in comics, Jay is the first Flash and Wally is the second. DCAU's Wally is a combination of himself and Barry. Wally never was a scientist in mainstream universe, not to mention CSI. That was Barry. The closest he was to being a policeman was when during Identity Crisis he worked as a mechanic for Keystone PD and repaired their cars.
      We may also speculate that Wally is actually the third Flash, Barry is dead/retired and Wally is just trying to act as if there never was third Flash.

    They're not mentioned or referenced at all, but some characters who are oddly absent from the DCAU also include Blue Beetle (specifically Ted Kord, Jaime didn't exist yet), Adam Strange, Firestorm, Black Lightning, and Reverse Flash. I know Blue Beetle couldn't appear due to some rights issue with a radio show that fell through a couple decades prior, and I think Black Lightning couldn't appear because DC was still on bad terms with Tony Isabella. That's why Static Shock introduced Soul Power, who was originally supposed to be Black Lightning. As for Firestorm, Adam Strange, and Reverse Flash, who knows.

    Thanks for this video! I knew most of these already, but it's nice to this video regardless. Of all these hidden heroes in the DCAU, its the existence of the Teen Titans that bother me the most.
    I don't hate them, but their existence in this universe raised a lot of questions that were best left to never being brought up in the first place.
    1. I brought this up in my last comment, but who are the members of the Titans in the DCAU? We know a few since Tim Drake (who in this universe is really Jason Todd with Tim Drake's name) and Beast Boy were mentioned. Possibly Starfire as well, but the Batman & Harley Quinn movie never stated she was a Titan in this universe though it never stated she wasn't as well.
    Also, multiple people were Titans in the comics don't exist in this universe at all like Garth/Tempest, Donna Troy/ Wonder Girl, Mary Batson/Mary Marvel, Frederick Freeman/Captain Marvel Jr., Victor Stone/Cyborg, and Raven;
    Or if they do, are given no indication that they were ever part of the Titans like Roy Harper/Speedy, Wally West/Flash (this version is essentially Barry and Wally were amalgamized into one character) and the Kyle Rayner Green Lantern who apparently went off to training shortly after getting his Power Ring (he was a member of the Teen Titans briefly in the comics),
    Or did not debut into comics until after JLU ended like Miss Martian and the Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle.
    2. Would it be worth it? Those Titans references in Static Shock were only put in the hopes of one day doing a crossover with the Teen Titans cartoon. However, the Teen Titans cartoon went into a different direction than originally planned. To make a version of the Titans that is compatible with the DCAU, one would have to diverge quite a bit from the source material to make it work. An adaptation doesn't need to be exactly like the source material and can be quite liberal with it if it still retains the spirit of the original work. A notable example would be Jurassic Park. The movie is quite different than the novel, but many would still say that it is a good adaptation.
    That's not the case with the DCAU Titans though, the changes that would have to be made wouldn't be done to tell a good story, but to go through a bunch of continuity gymnastics to make sure it doesn't cause inconsistencies with the other shows in the DCAU. The membership of the team would include some notable characters, but as I outlined earlier a lot of the characters that were members in the comics don't exist in this universe, and if a person were to try to make things more similar to the comics, he would have to make a bunch of ham fisted and increasingly convoluted retcons to make it work that will strained credibility very quickly.
    I really wish the producers of the Static Shock cartoon could have gone back and edited out those references. It wouldn't have been the first time, they would have had to done this. I remember early in Static Shock's run, Virgil once said the line, "Even Clark Kent had a day job." Superman was originally a fictional character, but once Static Shock's place in the DCAU was established that line was edited out. I think even Paul Dini once said that the references to the Titans in the episode Hard as Nails was a mistake since it was written under the assumption that the Teen Titans cartoon was going to be in the DCAU.
    I just don't see any good solution with the problem of the Titans in the DCAU that could keep fans satisfied. It would just be an ugly mess. I'm still looking forward to that video from you though. Whatever answers you can come up with are certainly worth knowing, and you have the best chance of coming up with some sort of solution!

    • @TheCrossSoldier
      @TheCrossSoldier 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think that could work. Tim Drake as Robin, Starfire, and Beast Boy exist in the DCAU, and while Natasha Irons does exist, she was never shown taking a superhero identity. There is an Aquagirl in the DCAU, but she is active in the Beyond era and that version of her is a different character with the name Mareena.
      Also, the remaining characters you have mentioned have never even been implied to exist in any the DCAU shows: Raven, Cyborg, Bart Allen as Kid Flash, Cassie Sandsmark as Wonder Girl, Lorena Marquez as Aquagirl, Cissie Jones as Arrowette, or any version of Superboy.
      Something else I noticed is that in the DCAU the only superheroes who were even shown to have sidekicks were Batman, Superman, and Green Arrow.
      Also, its never been said or implied that the DCAU Nightwing was ever on any team of young heroes. Batman and Harley Quinn shows us that he has worked with some members of the Justice League, but not anyone else.

    • @TheCrossSoldier
      @TheCrossSoldier 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Will N, I would not count test footage as canon since the producers have not finalized the concepts of the show which will likely change in the final product. Some of it can be minor like the Martian Manhunter's design, or major in the fact that the John Stewart Green Lantern is wearing a mask which means that at first the producers were going to have his identity be secret.
      Also, the only reason Robin, Impulse, and apparently Cyborg (Yes, that robot girl was a gender flipped Cyborg not Natasha Irons at least that's what I heard) were in that test footage was due to the show being originally pitched for Kids WB which would want to aim more towards a younger audience. Things changed when the show was pitched to Cartoon Network.
      Furthermore, just because a character exists on Earth 0 doesn't mean the character exists in the DCAU, and even if they do, the characters could have wildly different lives than their comic book counterparts. Nowhere in the DCAU is it ever said or implied that Bart Allen/Impulse even exists in that universe. Also, while Hal Jordan, Natasha Irons, and Cassie Sandsmark (if that girl Wonder Woman saved was her) exist in this universe, they are never shown becoming superheroes in this world (Hal Jordan's brief appearance as a Green Lantern was only due to time travel shenanigans with Chronos that were later reversed).
      Another thing, while I do appreciate you trying to come up with a more compatible version of the Titans in the DCAU, your list still has some problems in it. It's never said in the DCAU, that Nightwing, Babs, Kara, Hawk and Dove, Roy, and Courtney were ever Titans. Of all the members you listed, Tim, Kori, Beast Boy would be the only members of the Titans we know. Also, while it may be more plausible for Static and Gear to be members, I think they would just be honorary members at most since they would likely still stay in Dakota.
      Finally, on the matter of the DCAU tie-in comics, unless the events of those comics are referenced in the show itself, I don't count them as canon either. The comics have their own ideas which can be contradicted by future material, or if they do make it into the show, it's normally an adaptation of a single issue.

    • @TheCrossSoldier
      @TheCrossSoldier 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think Barry Allen exists in the DCAU. He has been combined with Wally West into one character. However, the episode Flash and Substance did have Jay Garrick's helmet which does raise some possibilities. Maybe the DCAU version of Wally West went through a few costumes before settling on the one he uses during his guest appearance on Superman The Animated Series and The Justice League Cartoon.
      Also, the Batman Beyond 2.0 comics are of questionable continuity. If another DTV movie was made that was set in Batman Beyond, I have a good reason to believe the producers would ignore the events of those comics, or take some elements from them but add their own twist on them.

    I'm looking forward to the video you guys put out about the DCAU Titans. There actually was a DCAU Teen Titans show pitched at one point in the 90's, and it included all the original members (Dick Grayson/Robin, Roy Harper/Speedy, Wally West/Kid Flash, Donna Troy/Wonder Girl, and Garth/Aqualad), but it fell through for some reason. There's even concept art for it online. It would've been interesting if it had been made, given what would come later.
    In regard to the DCAU Titans, I think we can probably safely say that it was the first iteration of the team that existed in the DCAU. The original silver age team wouldn't make sense, with the only members who would work being Dick and Roy. Aquaman doesn't become public knowledge until his appearance in Superman TAS, so it'd be kind of weird if Aqualad were running around as a superhero before then. Same goes for Wonder Girl, since Wonder Woman doesn't make her debut until the beginning of Justice League. Wally would be around, but he was always just the Flash and never Kid Flash. The Kid Flash costume in the museum makes that weird, but my recently-developed headcanon/rationalization to explain it is that when Wally first started out as the Flash he wore the Kid Flash suit, and later changed to the red costume. That just leaves Dick and Roy, and while you could say it's possible that they could have a history of teaming up as some kind of consolation, there just doesn't seem to be any way they were part of a Titans team that resembled the silver age version.

    I have a really crazy theory regarding Barry.
    What if there was a DCAU crisis on infinite earths style event in which Barry sacrificed himself ala the original story and time was re-shuffled as in the comics, with Wally possibly being more connected to the speed force than we all thought, this connection causing him to remember Barry and become the Flash to honor his forgotten mentor, later recreating his Kid Flash costume (which would have been erased from history I guess) and giving it to the museum.

    It's kind of a shame that Barry never made an appearance, but oh well. Although I did hear from somewhere that the main reason that Barry wasn't the Flash was because at the time during Superman TAS through JLU Barry was presumed "dead" in the comics and they didn't want to cause confusion if say, a kid bought a Flash comic during that era and his name was different.

    With the "Power-Girl" thing, I have a little theory about that: since "Super-Babes" is obviously not really a stand up place they don't care enough to fact check leading to the menu being labled Power-Girl instead of Supergirl then the waitress is just Galita-a (or however you spell it)

      Galatea wasn’t known to the public, though. She was a Cadmus experiment that only became known to the Justice League after Supergirl’s nightmares. And there is also a Supergirl waitress at Superbabes, so they definitely know who Supergirl is.

    A long time back, I saw a theory on Quora or Reddit which made Superman/Batman: Public Enemies fit in the DCAU. One element of this theory was that Galatea didn't die, but in time heals, turns good, and becomes Power Girl. While I totally reject trying to shoehorn Public Enemies into the DCAU (despite understanding why the theorist would want to with all the DCAU voice actors involved), I do think the idea about Galatea recovering and becoming Power Girl has merit and is as good as any other theory about the origin of the DCAU Power Girl.

    i believe in one batman beyond comic book there's one panel making reference to "an old hero" and the way the hero is drawn seems to be cyborg. plus Ted Kord blue beetle is shown in the comics as a JLU member, so did firestorm, black lightning, space cabby, mary marvel, Guy Gardner, Natasha Irons as the second steel and detective chimp... that is, of course, if the JLU comics are in continuity... which is debatable since it does follow the storyline where JLU left it and the things that happen in them are not contradicting batman beyond.

    About Plastic Man not being able to appear on JLU: I heard there were several issues with characters not being able to appear. Not because of legal or copyright issues, but because WB won't allow alternate versions of characters to appear avoid "confusion". The Batman got Batman's rogues banned from JLU, the Aquaman cameo in Smallville got him and Black Manta banned, etc. They're still doing this stuff to this day, taking characters off Arrow if they think they might want to use them in a movie. It's weird because they allow a TV and movie Barry Allen. And Marvel's aired all of their cartoons with no restrictions based on film franchises. I'm sure you guys could probably dig more up on this, might be a good video topic.

    I would’ve liked to have seen a bunch of the heroes never shown in one of the shows or movies in the last 20 years . Jason Todd just now made it into cannon as a former Robin and now Red Hood . Impulse like in Young Justice trying to not spoil things . Terry’s brother as Robin in another Batman Beyond crossover episode . The Teen Titans of the DCAU with Tim as the leader . Deathstroke as a villian even though he’s just now cannon . I think there is a ton of possibilities if they try to do something with the newer characters they’ve added since Unlimited ended in 2006 .
