i went to their primavera sound festival set and there was actually a mosh when they sang "mayday" it was awesome

And to Wake Up, too! They are the rock queens of kpop.
Hearing this beat drop at an open festival is sure to sound like world domination.
You're the only reactor I've seen who got the meaning of this song on first viewing. Dreamcatcher are first and foremost storytellers, and the stories they tell go past race or nationality to examine the human condition. I recommend that you go back to their beginnings with their debut song Chase Me, which was the beginning of a 7 song story arc about the dual nature of human beings. Everyone is a mixture of light and dark and the story illustrates what happens when people allow their dark side to guide their actions. Haters on the internet have allowed their shadow self to take control because it's so tempting when you can hide behind a screen name. Of course they have a lot of other songs, their B-sides, that talk about other things all of us have in common, like love, loss, and loneliness. Enjoy.

The translations are not bad unless they are auto generated. But the ones from the company are pretty decent

Translations in lyrics videos can be horrible, as people rush to translate songs so they can have the video up first (whoever does it first usually gets the lion's share of the traffic). For example, most of the lyrics videos for Blackpink's Pretty Savage are so very bad... but they were up so so fast, presumably because the first lyrics video for a Blackpink song translates in some way into tons of cash.
As you say, subtitles on official MVs are usually decent. Sometimes they're confusing (for Dreamcatcher, it's "often" rather than "sometimes" and it's not the translators' fault) and sometimes they're awkward (as some Korean phrasing is not easy to translate succintly and naturally into English), but usually decent.

Scream is part 1 of the Dystopia trilogy, which is about cyber-bullying, hateful comments and people losing themselves in the (fake) online world. It is mostly showing the victim's perspective of (cyber)bullying, comparing it to a medieval witch hunt and a burning at the stake. The tree is the tree of language, and it grows black fruit for every hurtful thing people say. Note also the hand gesture, it is the devil's horns introduced by Ronnie James Dio as a symbol for metal, but it originally was a gesture in the middle ages to ward off the evil eye, tying into the witch hunt theme. I really enjoy the music, it's rock mixed with EDM. Dreamcatcher are always very creative, and they are in their own genre by this point.

Well, I don't know about the ONLY, but they are definitely the most-recognized. And other groups/ bands do still have good meaningful lyrics.
I discovered Dreamcatcher through Scream, it practically birthed and raised me. I actually got to see them perform it live at their world tour stop in Louisville yesterday and it was absolutely amazing! Happy to see another DC track has got you hype

scream and the dystopia trilogy it's part of may have been inspired by several high profile singer suicides in recent years, some linked directly to negative online interaction. the main message of the dystopia trilogy is for people to find 'utopia' within themselves and not try to find it in the dystopian social media universe. perhaps disillusioned in real life, people have turned to online communities that may share similar interests but their message is even though this may seem perfect, it's not real and harmful.
you should check out some of their b-sides since they do have either special clips(lower budget videos) or choreo performances for many of them. a popular one is 'black or white'(dingo performance video) which is their tribute to mj. but if you prefer to stay on the rock side, try 'endless night'.

The chorus has something to do with double step guitar, which creates a sound that's like edm. (I've heard it from a producer, but I don't really understand music stuff).

Typically, "band" is reserved for groups that play their own music on stage, like Rolling Quartz (a K-rock _band_ who have done some awesome covers and homages to Dreamcatcher, you might want to check them out).
i literally just commented on your bts video so now that i’m here i’m gonna ask if you can react to stray kids next because they’re my favourite group and they have a variety of songs with different genres where you’ll hopefully find something you like, recommendations are gods menu (the song that they’re probably best known for and the one where they created a new genre called mala taste) miroh which is an EDM song and my pace :)
