my conspiracy theory is the death of VHS, in the early days cassettes were very expensive, but had massive profit from rentals in Japan, busy salary-men who could never get to the cinema or watch TV at a reasonable hour of the day can pick up a rental movie on the way home from work, a new untapped audience. Projects that didn't have the budget of Ghibli or the mass appeal to get a full TV series found a home in straight-to-video. Medium budget movies and limited OAV series that could delve into more niche genres, take risks, be more mature in both senses of the word...no individual project will make the studio rich, but they could turn a steady profit in the 80s, then have a second wind in the West in the 90s By the 2000s low cost DVDs and the internet kinda gutted the industry, a risky medium budget movie could pay for an entire season of low budget kids anime with a guaranteed audience. Its a shame, for a very brief period we had the perfect machine for creating cult classics
Does anyone knows the name of the music in the beginning ? I know the music is made by Hiroshi Miyagawa and Kentaro Haneda but impossible to find any song of the tracklist of this movie anywhere on the internet. This song seems very similar but using other instruments and is from another anime where the music is also composed by them : Hiroshi Miyagawa & Kentaro Haneda - Final Yamato - Aquarius Requiem
Some folks totally need to do something like a fan dub of the full Japanese version. Because I want to see the cut stuff (including the prolog about humanity sailing on the Earth's seas).
Fun fact 😂😂😂😂in 6:51 it shows the ship sailing in laser beam from left end of the screen heading to the right end, while I watched the same movie Arabic dubbed on youtube today, in the same clip the ship is going in laser beam from the right side of screen to the left side😂. is this because Arabic Language is written from right to left, and English is from left to right, I dont get it
@@sarala9794 I think he meant it in that regard. Though I'm going to have to agree to disagree. That's not to say they don't have a leg up on many western nations.
Perhaps it's just me, but as an old armchair historian, this sort of eugenic race hierarchy talk is straight up frightening, regardless of which so-called race is being declared "superior." Read your history, kids, this train of thought leads to VERY dark places.
Hmmmm interesting, you know correct me if I'm wrong but I didn't catch any criticism, comment, news, teaching, scholarship or research? Honestly dude a decent lawyer would take you to the cleaners with that disclaimer, what your really saying is if I bluster enough maybe no one will take my copyright infringement seriously. Obviously you're not the only one and at this point it's all moot anyway as the international copyright laws are breached every second of every day.
Amazing, who says you can't live in the past when you have movies like these?
I finally found it!
Last saw this at age 5. Now 35.
Thank you for uploading these classic anime 😁
This old school movie's amazing and well written but why don't they make anime movie's like this anymore?
Computer animation took all the fun out of it.
See there's this thing, called "change"
There’s also this thing called “budget cuts”, “rigged animation models”, and “laziness”.

When you click "more" under the title, TH-cam now shows a list of the music track.
it is not even full version - introduction for example is missing; full version seems to be like 2 hours & 20 minutes :)
Thanks for the info

I have found this on another internet site, and its still listed as being 1:34 minutes. If you know of a longer version, let me know.
Which is the best version? Seems like they just cut fluff mostly.

himecut…
This art is so amazing , even the smallest blow by scenes. The Japanese are super intellagent and in my opinion are a superior race .
Honorary
Yes, I have often thought the same. Perhaps we could say, a superior culture rather than a race because all humans are the same species.
Weeb :p
