Cassius Clay, when he went under that name he was young and hungry and was possibly better (speed and power wise) than when he changed his name (even though his greatest achievements were after the name change) The whole title is a metaphor for their hunger and also their challenges forcing their way up, greatness cant be denied, that kind of thing. Also the fact it was a name handed down from slavery , they are using that meaning to illustrate the obstacles they faced/face
