Sadly he reminds me of a guy I work with--great voice, plays guitar, banjo and dojo. But his kind of music doesn't really make much money except for a handful of artists, and he had a family to support. So he drives a truck and occasionally him and his buddies (all of whom have similar stories) get a bar gig.

I was doing a PhD in Spintronics based Quantum computing. I had to perform TA work and listen to the scolding of Prof every now and then. For the immense anount of mental frustration and working like a dog I used to get around $400/per month. I had to pay my college fees and House rent in that at the age of 26. Then I quit and moved abroad. When I see people doing nothing like this and earn so much, I get frustrated thinking about people research scholars who put so much effort and get paid negligible amount.
From one former TA to another, I feel you. This is criminal.

@@Robert-no3ds I do not agree. There is a big difference between what Joe says and what tiktokers do. He is at least able to observe and accurately analyze the environment. He can think and has a clear point of view that he shares with us. In addition, he has intelligent thoughts and can put them into words. This is a lot compared to people who put paper clips on their faces or fart into a microphone. And yes - I'd rather watch people painting as it requires a lot more effort and talent which I admire

Respect is something you earn, not something that can be bought, and these people making those videos don’t even respect themselves, so nobody else should either. I had parents who actually did their job as parents, and taught me to have respect for myself, and they taught me values, good manners, and good morals. The younger generation today acts like they were raised by zoo animals. We used to say in jest when someone was acting fooIish, “were you raised in a barn?”. With the young people today, that’s a legitimate question, because they act like barn animals. In fact, barn and zoo animals have more respect for themselves than these morônic young people do. Whoever raised those degenerates needs to be held accountable for failing their offspring.
