    One of the greatest lady rulers in the Renaissance era. Her mother Mary of Burgundy should be proud of her daughter's successful political achievement.

      Yes, she was really one of the greatest, she should be about as famous as Elizabeth I or such.

    Farewell Your Imperial Highness, Archduchess Margaret of Austria, governor of the Netherlands, daughter of Emperor Maximillian and Mary, Duchess of Burgundy, and worthy namesake of her stepgrandmother, Margaret of York, Duchess of Burgundy. One of the greatest rulers of the in Europe, you've made your ancestors proud.

      One of the greatest female rulers ever. She should be more famous. There are much more famous and popular female rulers who weren't really as great as Margaret.

      She went through so much sufferings - lost a mother too early,lost a husband and a child and never remarry and has a cruel big brother - Plilip the Fair, more likely Plilip the brad, god I hate this guy, but despite everything she educate some of the most powerful rulers of her time, despite the incest issue

      @@opalfaith3221 Actually, she did remarry, to the brother of Louise of Savoy (the mother of Francis I of France). However, this marriage was also fruitless, she ended up having two unsuccessful pregnancies, if I'm not mistaken. I read it somewhere she even tried to kill herself by throwing herself off a balcony because of the grief of keep losing children, but she survived. I'm not sure if it's true, but it could be. Margaret was probably traumatized by the loss of her first husband John and their daughter, so reliving that kind of pain must've been hell for her. Luckily, life had much more in store for her and she was allowed to still become one of the most remarkable women of Renaissance. Anne Boleyn actually learned a great deal from her, while she was her lady-in-waiting at her court.

    The age when a cut will kill you when today its just an ointment that is remedy. It must be terrifying to live in their time.

    "Setting your wishes before my will".
    He was doing the same thing, setting his wishes/political agenda to his own benefit againts her will.
    If you want to reprehend someone on their actions, atleast let it be about something you yourself are not doing to them, otherwise you're just a hypocrite.

      Well it was usual that the woman should adjust and obey, while the men could do as they liked. Especially if the man was the emperor whom everyone of his subjects and also family members had to obey.

    Charles is quite irritating in this whole series, constantly being distrustful to his loyal brother, handing everything on golden plate to his son while puting his brother aside. Charles didnt deserve his wife and family, not a bit. He was hypocritical to everyone, pushing his will on his surrounding while he alone could break every rule he wanted. Bleh.

      Look who won in the end. Charles kingdom is still ruled by the French/Bourbon until now. On the other hand, the current line in Austria descends from Ferdinand.

      @@johnmercado6436 well technically due to all the inbreeding every habsburg descendant is from charles , ferdinand and isabellas lineage

      well, looks like Hapsburgs in the end, weren't punished or extinct for no reason. Inbreeding which is almost considered a sin in all Abrahamic religions+mistreatment of people that were and could actually be helpful (Juana and Ferdinand) cruelty towards their non-Spanish subjects or taking them for granted. look who won at the end? their enemies and people they looked down upon. while despite monarchy being gone from those countries, but Ferdinand's blood still exists inside current Hapsburgs, there

      All kings are hypocritical.... From the head cutting Henry 8th (the worst thing a woman could do at the time is marry this XXX) to Isabel I of Spain, who would use the Jews for medicine and money after expelling them, or make her children marry whoever she wanted when she herself, when was young, said "I am my own person and I will be the only one who decides who I sleep with". That's the way kings are, some more, some less, but all have their own interest in their mind and are hypocritical (what we can, others can't, and viceversa. Why? Because it's God's will). This serie has put a lot of emphasis on the Spanish part of Charles's realm, it omits a great part of history and, as always, counts, marqueses and even royal princes are portrayed as secondary personalities who only served at court, when they actually had their own "mini kingdoms", where they were the all mighty rulers (also untrusty and hypocritical). You can't see that in a serie like this.

    Do you think Margaret actually wanted to die, or was she just wanting the pain in her foot to stop?

    • @Lily1127channel
      @Lily1127channel  5 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      I think she was so overwhelmed by the pain that she accidentally drank too much.

    • @stoker1931jane
      @stoker1931jane 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Well if she had an infected wound that didn't heal. The pain probably drove one nuts. Gangrene [blood poisoning] would have set in, because Charles V advised his Aunt to let the Physicians amputate part of her leg. Very risky and an extremely painful procedure without general anesthetics. An amputation could kill you and didn't come with guarantee of "success". So I fully understand her choice for an "overdose". ✌🏻😔

      Ese medicamento era utilizado para el dolor, Margarita sufría de gota en una pierna, pero el mal tratamiento que le aplicaron provocó que se le infectara, el opio lo usaron para calmar el dolor pero la causa de su muerte fue una infección que derivó en septicemia.

      Suicidio. El hecho de proponer entre ellos que nadie sepa de lo ocurrido era para que la Iglesia no estuviera al corriente, ya que el suicidio impedía un enterramiento católico y la salvación. Si lo hacían pasar por muerte natural no habría los impedimentos de la Iglesia a ser enterrada en sagrado y por el ritual correspondiente.
