Review of the Zumax OMS 2380 microscope

Pros:
-Great Ergonomics with very easy adaptation to different working positions using the super balancing arm
-the best control of magnification knob and variofocal lens being built in providing access using fingers just a stretch from the binoculars arms
-one of the best dealers in Egypt, highly supportive, always available and really flexible with their services
-availability of accessories is incomparable, mobile adaptors, beam splitter, lens protector, different camera adaptors, built in camera
-the binoculars are adapted on a rotation jig that provides inclined view of operation site
-variofocal lens is built in the microscope head which makes focus control a piece of cake within access of finger tips
Cons
-the arms are a bit bulky taking too much space in the clinic and the arms are with plastic covers that look a bit cheap although when asked the dealer said it's all metal arms inside and the plastic is only for protection
-the built in camera is sharp and very good quality but the field of view is less compared to what u see through the binoculars
-the arms carrying the binoculars from the floor mount are relatively short 75 cms and this makes the space for the assistant quite limited, but the dealer said they provide a 95 cm version
-the field of view of the built in camera is less than the field of view seen through the eyepieces and recording didn't work on the model I was using to the memory card attached due to incompatibility issues
-maximum magnification for the continuous zoom model is less than 20 x which is very limited compared to the step magnification but the dealer said they are working on binoculars which provide higher magnification up to 1.5 times the available one.
-the main concern I had with this microscope was the light intensity and the light tone which was a bit limited in high magnification, it didn't feel like it's 100 K lux and the yellow light provided isn't my preference compared to the blue spectrum light, the company responded to this with providing new models with higher lux intensity.
-I believe pricing needs to become less I believe in the continuous zoom model

excellent video doctor! I am about to acquire my first microscope and I am thinking of buying the zumax oms2360 or the prima dnt from labomed, have you ever used microscopes from labomed?

I am looking for a "beginner" microscope....would you recommend this? Any other suggestions?

Which one is better, the zeiss extaro or zumax 2380?

The extaro is a different level of course.. Both price and quality.
